  1. After Week 1: Powell (3-0) Clinton (3-0) West (2-0) Oak Ridge (1-0) Halls (1-2) Central (1-2) Karns (1-2) Hardin Valley (0-3) Campbell Co. (0-3) What are some of the district matchups next week? Powell plays Campbell Co. twice.
  2. Are the Bobcats playing at the new field yet?
  3. Powell is pretty young too. Monday they started 4 seniors, 1 junior, 3 sophomores, and 2 freshman (counting the DH). I knew Halls was pretty young. Don't they start about 3 seniors? Should be some good battles between these two the next few years.
  4. Someone correct me if I'm wrong: District 3AAA games Powell (3-0) with wins against Halls twice and Hardin Valley Halls (1-2) with a win against Campbell Co. (0-1) Central (1-1) split with Karns (1-2) West (1-0) beat Hardin Valley (0-2) I think Oak Ridge (1-0) beat Karns (not sure about this one) Not sure if Clinton has played a district game yet. Anyone with more info please add to this.
  5. Round 2 final - Powell wins 10-0 in 6 innings.
  6. Congrats to the Lady Panthers! Great win tonight.
  7. Final.......Powell 8 - Halls 1.
  8. Powell beat Gibbs 4-2 today in a scrimmage game. Both teams played pretty good. Andrew Green was still out with a back injury.
  9. Powell lost 2-0 at Alcoa in 7 inning scrimmage Thursday. Andrew Green was out (back injury).
  10. Powell scrimmages today at AC. Should be a tough contest. I think AC might be loaded this year.
  11. Wow! Your comment about the '08' seniors might be the most ridiculous I've ever heard on Coach T. You've got to be kidding me! Just because they didn't get to State last year you are going to blame a group of seniors that have been there 2 out of the last 4 seasons? They still had a good year in '08'. This was even after losing Cassidy Skeen about 2 weeks into the season with a broken foot. It takes alot of breaks to get to the AAA State tournament, and for Powell to do it 2 out of the last 4 years was remarkable! I'd say in the years to come we will look back and realize just how good that group was. I hope that Powell has a great season in '09' and many more in the future. GOOD LUCK TO THE LADY PANTHERS!
  12. Can't believe these two teams open up against each other. Should be some fun games to watch. Any predictions? Hope the weather is great. GOOD LUCK PANTHERS! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Colby Skeen, Drake Owenby, and Zack Slagle at Powell.
  14. Catholic will not be moving into this district. I am pretty sure that Anderson County will be moving in and West will be moving out.

    Undefeated

The last team that I remember going undefeated was my Central Bobcats in the early 90's. That was Todd Helton's junior year. BTW that was by far the best high school baseball team I have ever seen play, and going undefeated was an unbelieveable task. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Farragut is definitely going to have a great team in 2009. They probably won't even need to practice. Their opponents are going to roll over and play dead. I'd say that they will win alot of games by forfeit./popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  16. I agree that the sky is the limit for these three. I also attended a tournament last year in which these guys were all very impressive. In that tournament, however, the most impressive pitchers were a junior lefty and a freshman right hander. Both of these guys were in the low 80s with command of their off speed stuff and they both notched impressive victories over a nationally ranked team from Ohio. Pitchers come in all shapes and sizes and can be equally effective at different speeds. I guess alot of it also depends on the defense that is playing behind you as well. BTW Norris is no longer with the Jr. Toppers. He has been chosen by the East Cobb Yankees 18U Elite team to play with them this summer. I think this is a great move for Dino. I also think that out of all these pitchers mentioned, that he may be the one that we see on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball one of these days. Best of luck to all of these guys and take care of those arms. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  17. Six district tournament championships in a row is pretty impressive. I would have to say that Halls is the odds on favorite again this year. I know that Halls lost some good players to graduation last year, so who are some of the players they are reloading with? Who is likely to be in their starting rotation on the mound, and who will be their best hitters? Come on, give some of your guys some pub. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> I'd say you are probably right......everyone else in the district might just be playing for second place this season. However, crazier things have happened, so I guess we will have to let the teams decide those things in the regular season and district tournament. I know I can't wait until the weather turns and we get to enjoy some baseball! Good luck to everyone in 3AAA this season! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. I agree...Farragut's a lock and everyone else is playing for second. What about 3AAA? Is it Halls for the 7th year in a row? That's a pretty good run. How about the rest of the district? Any info on who has what coming back?
  19. I'm not sure if any of those rumors are true but if everyone sticks around I think Halls might have a good shot at making the playoffs next year. Clinton could walk away with the district title, and everyone else in 5A may be playing for the other 2 playoff spots. I was told that Anderson Co. and Campbell Co. both lost a ton of senior tallent and might be down next season. Someone from those schools correct me if I am wrong. If that's the case, then Halls, Powell, and Central might be battling it out for the final 2 spots........but then, what do I know? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  20. If folks know where this year's seniors are headed next season, then start posting them on here. What about Houston at Powell? Has anyone heard yet?
  21. Now that you mention it, HTV, I was beginnin' to think that DD was slippin' over to the DARK side.........but I guess it'd be a cold day in 'you know where' before that would happen. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  22. How will Campbell Co. be in 2009? Did they lose alot of tallent?
  23. Will you be playing 16U in the spring of 2009? Where do you go to high school?
  24. West should be tough the next two seasons. You will be competing with Lenoir City and Catholic for one 5A playoff spot in that district. Yours may be the strongest overall district in the state. Best of luck in "09". /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. Mysery loves company! I like Powell's chances to make the playoffs the next few years. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> GO PANTHERS!
