  1. MCMinn Central, Mark Riden, Travis Loveday Polk County, Couch Walker Valley, Turner, Murray, and Stephens Meigs, both Masons and Million
  2. Buckaloo was the best player on Cleveland's team this year. She has the height that Holly needs to be a D1 player. She is strong and she can shoot. She is fast is a good ballhandler. The thing she doesn't have and I don't know if it can be taught this late in her career is discipline. She and the rest of her teammates at Cleveland knew one offense and that was catch the ball and shoot. Personally I don't think that she can fit into to Harlowe's style of play with is controlling offense. I think that is where she should go if she wants the attention of colleges. The girl is D1 material but is waiting awful late in her high school to settle in and prove it to coaches. I agree with Govman, she was the best player I watched all season. Has so much potential. She had the potential to be close to being another Brittney Jackson but will never be there because she is a senior next year. I think it is alot of talk but I think she will be at Walker Valley next year shooting 20 times a game.
  3. Why would Lewis leave WVHS? His team was second in the district, the same as the girls team. Both were second behind a McMinn Central team that made it to the substates and no farther. Both girls and boys beat Central during the year. Why would Lewis leave? He has Kugler and McGuire coming back. Is it that somebody is undermining him and wanting him to leave? I think he does a great job with what he has. If he leaves my guess would be that Elrod would be the coach. Why would they not give him the first chance at it. And if you want to get rid of a coach because of his record, are you also planning on replacing the football coach there? Evidently there are a couple of parents who are disgrunteled with Playing time and are wanting him to quit or there is a certain coach there that people want in. There is NO reason that Lewis should quit or be asked to quit. If the players from other schools are going to WVHS because of a coach then they need to go somewhere else. Maybe they can try playing at Bradley. I don't think so!! Look at WVHS boys record, and look who they played. They did a good job considering the out of district games that they played. Like I said they were second in district and so were the girls. Whats the difference? The girls had a better record? Records against weak teams? I think the school should be in support of Lewis and his staff or get rid of all coaches who did not have extraordinary seasons.
  4. Who all is on the Breakers team? I know Justin Hare and Wes Suiter are both on the Travelers team. Is Charles Little on there too? What about Pickel, Pugh and Cooper?
  5. I would like to see a complete list of players who made this team. Were there honoorble mentions for this team? I know District 5AAA had four players on the team: Justin Hare, Charles Little, Kellen Pickel and Juan Smith. District 5AA put one---Mark Ridden. I didn't see any girls on the list from 5AAA. Is that correct? Does anyone know where we can get a complete list of AA and AAA players.
  6. Bradley's dream team:( I am not going back before the mid 80's) Chad Copeland would be my first pick. He may be the best to ever come out of Bradley. Josh Hare... not as talented or athletic as some of the players that have come through Bradley but worked and still works as hard as anyobody I have seen. He is strong, can post up and can hit the three. Josh's brother Justin would be on this team. He can play point, wing or post up if need be. Mush better athlete than his brother but doesn't play with intensity. Alphonso Pugh......... Big, strong, soft shot and gets better with each passing game. This would probaly be my starting five with Zach Carpenter, Univeristy of Alabama at Huntsville player as a backup post and Kellen Pickel (best shooter and most hustle I have seen in a player at Bradley) as a backup to the one or two. Probably would have Kent Smith as coach with Earl Rowan as backup. Steve Williams would be team doctor.
  7. Best what? There are no best players on that team. I saw them play over half of there games and from what I sould tell,Each had a roll to play. Hare is probably the best known making all-state. He is strong, can shoot, and plays good defense. He is being recruited by many colleges ( I hear even UT wants him). Weakness, does not see the court well to make quick passes. Pickel can do it all. He is probaly the best shooter and passer on the team. Weakness, his strength on the boards. But he is no better or no worse than Hare, just different. Pugh, what can you say? The kid makes the team go. He hustles 100 percent of the time, scored when needed, made good passes and rebounded like he was 6'5. Suiter, he got better and better over the year. Though he wasn't named to any of the all-state teams, he was a team player. Strong!! I watched him pull his team thru against Cleveland when Hare and Pickel were off. Brown has all the tools to be a standout next year. He can shoot threes all day and rebound like a post. I think Hare will go major D-1. Pickel either small major or mid-major with a possibilty of major D-1, Pugh- UTC, Brown, Cleveland State or Wesleyan type. Suiter still has a year to get even better. So who is best? Sorry bud, can't answer that ? I know that the team was second best in the state and White Station was first. That's the only best I know. I look for Hare to be a Mr. Basketball finalist next year and a possibilty of being two from Bradley with Pickel getting the nod. The Bradley Bears entire team is the "Best" in my book. I loved watching them play this year.
  8. When does the girls all-state come out? The boys is already out. I hope Latham from McMinn makes it.
  9. Student-athletes represent their schools. I think it is very admirable for a coach to tell a player not to have a bellybutton ring. That girl is representing your school. Basketball is an extracurricular activity, if the girls don't like it then they can quit.
  10. How can you say the Bradley didn't even deserve to be in the state? They were the second best team over there. I give White Station credit, they were the best. And they may be the best next year. But when you return two of the best guards in the state (and THE very best duo of guards) along with the experience from the other four or five, then Bradley has a legitimate shot at being the best this year. In the first game of the state, WS had there starters in for less than half the game... In the second game, they played between 23-25 minutes. The starters had to play all but 6 minutes total of the last game. I think that the White Station coaches and players had respect for the Bradley Central squad. Both teams have tremendous players this year and I am sure both have some next year. Time will tell.

    All State

Congratulations to Hare and Pickel from Bradley and Little from Cleveland. You three make our town proud. Being honorable mention out of all the schools in the state is fantastic and making third team as a junior is great. Next year I hope to see all three of you on either the first, second or third team. Is there another all-state team coming out this year. It seems like last yer I saw two different ones.
  12. Skogan is very good. He will be able to play at Mercer. But there is a huge difference between playing A basketball and AAA basketball. Jake Skogan would have stood out for any team in the AAA tourney but he might be the only player for Temple that could have played for a team in the AAA games. It is a whole different game.Congrats to Temple for a great season and especially to Jacob Skogan who is as good as any of the players listed. Just my thoughts
  13. I think you are referring to a different Bradley than what the thread is speaking of. I think the Bradley Central team is what it is referring to. Will they be back next year? Time will tell... Will they have the players to be in the finals? I think so. They made it this year with only two players that returned from last year's team. The other five that played will just get better and better after a years experience in the state. But to get back to the state, Bradly will have to face Cleveland in the district and region again, and either Columbia, Oakland or Blackman again. Then once in the state it would be a blind draw. Hamilton will probably be an opponent for them in the state again and White Station also. It is possible that they will probably be there. But don't count on it as a definite. I do think that Pickel, Hare and Pugh will just get better and better. Brown and Nipper didn't even dress last year and they have improved so much that I think Brown could get a good college scholarship. Suiter is just a sohpmore this year and came through for the Bears in several clutch situations. As long as Kent Smith is the coach and with this much talent, I would not count the Bears out. I would love to see them have a big year next year again with another shot at the gold. Next time I think they will bring it back to the East if the chance is there's.
  14. Corey Brewer Tyler Smith Jacob Skogan Wadelle Williams Kellen Pickel Justin Hare Dane Bradshaw Eric Howard Andy Wyck Matt Malone
  15. I am glad to see that finally a couple of Chattanooga area guards are getting the recognition they deserve. Justin Hare and Kellen Pickel are two of the best and smoothest guards I saw in the state. I sat through five games on Thursday, four Friday and did not get to make it Saturday. I was not that impressed with Bradshaw on Thursday but against Columbia he stepped it up when he needed to. With some work to get a little quicker on defense the kid may surprise some doubters next season at UTK. Corey Brewer was probably the player I was most impressed with. He may be a notch ahead of any player in the tourney. Tyler Smith is the real deal. I don't know if he will be another Lebron James but he certainly will be a bigtime player. Wadelle Williams, Kellen Pickel, Jacob Skogan, and Justin Hare would be my next picks for top players in the tourney. I am impressed with Skogan and Pickel's abilities to shoot from anywhere on the court and with such quick release off the dribbles. Also both kids see the court better than any players I saw in the games with very quick passes. Pickel is a menace on defense too. Skogan and Hare are both strong guards who can drive the ball to the bucket. Hare shot an unbelievable amount of foul shots for a Point guard. Williams was the best ball handler that I saw and so quick. He would be my choice for Mr. Basketball. Skogan is going to Mercer, where is Williams going? Brewer, Pickel, Hare and Smith are all underclassmen who I expect to go major D-1. Another kid who has impressed me with his improvement throughout the year is Cory Pugh from Bradley. Look for him to grow and be recruited next year. Any ideas of which schools are recruiting any of these kids? Also the kid from Hendersonville, where is he going? Is he a senior or junior. Only saw one game of his but was impresses with him too. Most of the best players I saw in this state were guards. What has happened to the presence of dominant post players?
  16. How many players are chosen on the all-state squads? Are there five on first team and five on second or are there 12 total? I would think that many of the ones that made all-state tourney would definitely be on the squad. > [Edited by nick32 on 3-18-03 2:49P]
  17. Don't count Rhea out yet. Being a Bradley faithful myself, I am worried about that game. Rhea maybe the most underrated team in the state. I think I would rather play Cleveland again. I wish it was Rhea playing Cleveland and McMinn playing Bradley. I could breathe a little easy.
  18. Yes, there is a SLIM chance, maybe 1-100 that Ooltewah can stop Little, Cooper, Davis and company. Only ONE team has stopped them all year, and I don't think that the Owls can do it. If they do, it would make Bradley's route to state easier. Me, I am quite worried about Bradley getting through Rhea though.
  19. Either Bradley or Cleveland will be there and has a chance of winning the state if things fall the right way. I can't see both of them winning and making it there. Bradley was almost upset last night. I fear that one of the two will lose in an upset game in the region. Rhea or McMinn either one is capable of upsetting them. I think that the state will include: White Station Columbia Bradley or Cleveland Science Hill Maryville Maplewood Hendersonville Bartlett
  20. Cleveland High's gym cannot seat 2000 though it will hold that many if you include standing room. Fridays championship is going to be between the number two and three teams in the state and is an in-county rivalry to begin with. Probably over 500 fans will not get to watch the game. Not trying to be negative toward Cleveland, I just wish someone in authority had spoken up and had this game elsewhere. Since I don't get off work until after 6:00, I fear that I will be one of the ones turned away from the game. [Edited by nick32 on 2-26-03 10:13A]
  21. BRADLEY CHEATED!!! Now that is a very mature statement. One ref a Bradley grad and one ref a Cleveland coaches close relative. Looks like even odds to me. Just drop the whole thing and move on. You are getting to have the tournament in that crackerbox gym. Talk about cheating!
  22. Pugh, Pickel, Hare, Little, and Sharpe from District 5AAA. Sexton and Dozier from Chattanooga. Britt would be on the bubble.
  23. Although Cleveland High has a great new facility it should not be allowed to host a AAA District or Region Tournament. TSSAA should have some set of standards that need to be followed to host a tournament. I think it is a crying shame that District 5AAA is to be held at Cleveland High. You said the gym seats 2000. That 2000 is very uncomfortable and are standing. The air doesn't work in a crowd such as that and people that would like to see games will not be able to. I don't know the solution, but playing at CHS this year is a disgrace to all involved. Something should be done before the region tournament.
  24. Starts tonight with Rhea and Cumberland playing each other in both girls and boys. The winner of the girls game will play Cleveland and the boys game will play Bradley on Tuesday. My predictions are Bradley/Cleveland boys in the finals and Cleveland/Mcminn in the girls. The list of all-district is as follows Kent Smith Coach of the Year Kellen Pickel Player of the Year Justin Hare, Wes Suiter, Cory Pugh Bradley Central Tim Cooper, Charles Little, Jay Davis and Tray Sharp CHS Josh Smith and Zak Hyatt Rhea County Matt Ray and Juan Smith McMinn County Dennis Gilpin and Bradnon Housotn from Crossville Bob Williams Coach of the Year Kaley Latham Player of the Year Crista Burnett, Holly and Crystal Rogers, and Buckaloo CHS Yanessa Simpson, Ashley Hardaway McMinn Brandi Scott, Tamra Crowe, and Kristen Reynolds BCHS Tiffany Travis Rhea County Staci Foster and Casha Beate Crossville Congratulations to all winners and good luck to all!!
