He sounds like a great fit for a school like Notre Dame...can't get much better academically. However, I don't think it really matters which program he ends up at, he should be perfectly fine. From all accounts, he sounds like a class act, and any program would be thrilled to have a football player of his caliber. From what I hear, Chris has narrowed it down to UT and Notre Dame, which is good...that means we will get to see all of his games on tv.

Is Chris a lock to wear orange and white? I've heard many who think he is UT all the way. But here recently he received a Notre Dame offer, and I've heard its between Notre Dame and Tennessee, with UT expected to reel him in.
  3. Haha......I agree, Coach English hates that kind of stuff. Its good to support your team and state facts, but don't obviously build up or promote one player (esp. a freshman who probably isn't as great as you make him out to be). I'm not saying he's good or bad....because I don't know, but it is quite obvious that you are in someway connected to him, so you might want to pull back on the reigns a little bit. Because you probably don't want the guys on the team to read this or Coach English to read this.
  4. Brooks and Willis are two ridiculous high school linebackers. I've seen Hogsett play, and I saw Brooks and Willis play as well. I will say that Hogsett hits like a truck, but I'm not so sure that he possessed the athleticism that the other two guys brought. I know Brooks didn't pan out as planned at UT, but he was a BAD linebacker in high school.......Just about all the recruiting services had him ranked as at least a top 3 middle linebacker in the nation. I thought JCM had the best group of linebackers in the state that year, when Anthony Echols was a sophomore, Adam November was a junior, and Brooks was a senior. That was a great team. Hope everything goes well for Hogsett and that he excels at the next level.
  5. Yeah, it sounds like you guys are going to re-stock pretty well....between the McCaster kid and Jarvis Jones, Mitchell will be sitting pretty solid for the next 2 or 3 years. It'll be interesting to see how well they develop and play together.
  6. haha.......that makes a lot of sense.........I think if Liberty's freshman guard Ricky Williams had played, they would have won by 10+. Haha I'm just kiddin man, but thats kind of like when people claimed that if Chism hadn't been out for the second half of Bolivar's first game against Mitchell, then Bolivar would have won easily. Turned out they were wrong, you guys beat them again in the first round of state. I doubt Jones would have made a 12 point difference.
  7. Liberty's talent level will not be down.....Mitchell is losing 3 D1 guys and a McDonalds All-American, Liberty is losing Brandon Evans to Murray State and 3 other role players. Don't get me wrong B. Evans will be missed, but the MVP that stepped up his game against ya'll (Jewuan Long) is back next year. 4 out of 5 starters return. It should be interesting, but I would tend to think that Liberty has to be one of the favorites to return to the finals again. Another team that people are going to have to watch out for is Haywood. I know they lost 2 of their best players but thats it. They return some really solid young talent. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think McCaster for Mitchell scored or really did anything against Liberty? I'm not down talking him at all, because I listened to the Mitchell/Bolivar game, and he sounded like he really stood out and played a great game, because I recall the announcers calling his name a lot. I kind of expected him to be a factor in the championship game. He seemed relatively quiet against Liberty. Sounds like he's got a really good future in front of him though, considering that he's just a sophomore.
  8. Just to name a few--Maurice Miller (Raleigh Egypt) the Liberty guys (Jewuan Long, Josh Sain, Devon Jones, Antwan Long), Ken Bingham from McNairy is really good, Randy Culpepper is good from Sheffield, CJ Davis seems like a solid player from Goodpasture, and if I'm not mistakin, Reggie Bomar from Lexington is a rising senior........he's a pretty good ballplayer as well.
  9. Galilee, I give you and your tigers credit for a good, clean, hard-fought game.....I think that every player for both teams left everything they had out there on the floor. I was very impressed with Powell in the first half. Good luck to the big 3 from mitchell as they head off to play D1 ball, and good luck to B. Evans as he continues on at Murray.
  10. Yep, I must admit...........Friday night was a fun night to be a Liberty fan.
  11. I know that Jewuan Long did a great job guarding Thad, and I noticed that later on, when Dexter realized that Powell was HOT, he then put Jewuan on him........notice he went cold after that. Red showed some offense last night but the kid can play some good D too. One of the differences in the second half was that 6'6 Josh Sain and Devon Jones started gaurding Thad Young, this closed the gap on his height advantage and he just wasn't able to penetrate and shoot over guys like he did in the first half. I wouldn't solely place the blame on Mitchell's coach and you do have to give Liberty's D some credit for not allowing Thad to show up in the second half. It's just as much Thad's fault as anyone elses...........true champions rise to the occasion and want the ball in their hands with the game on the line, he should have demanded the ball when the final seconds were ticking away.
  12. Awesome game! Jewuan Long stepped it up BIG time in the second half. That kid was playing with heart and desire and I am so glad he got the MVP honors, he definitely deserved it. I'm so happy for the Long brothers. Great effort by Liberty as a team overall. Great year! I don't think you could have wrote a better script for these guys.
  13. Dexter could definitely shoot the rock.......still can.
  14. Haha, yeah man, that would be a very unexpected suprise.
  15. Galilee come on man............you are blowing things WAY out of proportion. If I'm not mistaken you are the AD at Mitchell right? If so, act like it. How many other administrators get on here and cry about some unimportant people's personal opinions. Like Baseballa said, simply state your opinion or your prediction. No need to get on here and talk like that. I am yet to see somebody get on here and down talk Mitchell and say that they can't beat Liberty. Believe me, everyone knows that Mitchell has some ballers. This game isn't a lock for anyone.....and, yes, Mitchell is the favorite.
  16. Liberty are the state champs? haha......playin the underdog role again huh Galilee?....not quite, pretty much statewide everyone favors Mitchell. Just because a few people on the message board saw how good Liberty was today doesn't necessarily mean that Mitchell is the underdog. Come on, you guys are ranked nationally and you have one of the top players in the nation. I would say statewide and nationwide you guys are the favorite. But I will say, Liberty is a very good team and very, very athletic.........this could be a very interesting matchup. Mitchell has the size and the big 3 DI players, and Liberty has the athletes and the depth. But believe me nobody thinks that Mitchell is the UNDERDOG.......in my opinion this is a toss up, and the team that wins will definitely have to play a great game. Anyways good luck to you guys....and go Liberty!
  17. So your saying that both Bolivar and Mitchell are better than Liberty?
  18. Liberty played a great one tonight and Mitchell slacked off against Goodpasture a little bit. I'm expecting a very hard fought game, and both teams will need to bring their A game tomorrow night. Should be a good one. Can't miss it!
  19. Thats the thing......you guys are saying that McMinn had an off day, well really Liberty wasn't on top of their game. For instance, Brandon Evans (Liberty's top player and a Murray St. signee) scored something like 7 or 8 points. This wasn't Haywood's defense, he just didn't have his shot today. And that says a lot that Liberty was still able to beat Haywood with Brandon really struggling. Also, Haywood played a good game overall. They shot over 70 percent in the first half. Thats unheard of. I will say that they turned the ball over a lot, but most teams do against Liberty. The only team that ever succeeded against Liberty's press all year was Bolivar, and that was because Willie Kemp was running the show and didn't get rattled like these other point guards. And you made a comment that Liberty's depth wont be a factor.........their bench scored over 40 points today......if it wasn't for their backups, Liberty would have lost this game. Their depth gives them a big advantage. I'm telling you, if McMinn only subs in one or two extra players this whole game, they are going to be hurting. I don't believe that they've ran with a team like Liberty this year.......teams other than Bolivar and Haywood tend to really run out of gas against Liberty's uptempo press and depth. Anyways, good luck to both teams, lets hope for a well-officiated and injury free game.
  20. Haha man..........don't bring up that Austin East game, Liberty didn't play well at all.........and I can assure you that Alcoa is nowhere near the caliber of team that Haywood is. Central will have to play a greeaaat game to beat Liberty. Central will see just how deep and athletic Liberty is tomorrow night. I don't expect a blowout, but I think Liberty SHOULD win fairly comfortably....key word SHOULD, but believe me, I know that Central is a dangerous team and nobody can be overlooked in a state tournament. Judging by the AP polls, McMinn is supposed to win this one.
  21. Liberty had a big win over Haywood today, and Central pulled a win out against Alcoa. I know McMinn is solid and they currently hold the #1 ranking in AA, but does anyone think they are truly better than Liberty? Should be a pretty good game, and its hard to pick against a team that is 35-1, but I just don't think that McMinn has faced a team as athletic as Liberty. Also, looking at the schedules, Liberty has played the Bolivars and the Haywoods; whereas, McMinn hasn't faced the stiffest competition. I was suprised how Liberty struggled early on, and how Brandon Evans struggled with his shot as well, but their bench came up big. Alcoa and Central traded blows and went back and forth throughout the game---Beau Brown is a very solid player for MC as well. There will be a lot riding on this game and it could be very interesting, but in the end I believe that Liberty meets Mitchell in the finals.
  22. Alright, now that Mitchell has put Bolivar away---(good year bolivar and good luck to willie and wayne)........lets here some thoughts on the Liberty/Haywood game. I can't wait....this should be a tight game. I hope Liberty has their act together and can come out and perform up to their abilities against Haywood. These are two pretty even teams, and I'm looking for a close one. I'm just excited about the game, and hopefully these two teams can put on a show and go all out to the finish. I'm hoping that brandon evans can stay hot and lead liberty to a win. Either way, I know both teams will have to fight hard to beat the other. Good luck everybody.
  23. Game time is getting closer and closer. Part of me thinks that Mitchell just has too much for Bolivar, but then at the same time I know that Kemp is a gamer and Rudesill is a great coach. Everyone knows that Bolivar is the two-time defending champs and they've been here before, but man Mitchell is so big and talented. This is a very interesting/enticing matchup. Someone is going to have to step up in the clutch for either team. I think it will be close either way, and honestly I wouldn't be suprised if Bolivar won or if Mitchell won. Good luck to both teams.
