Can you confirm the 80k? I don't think it got that high. I think they raised more money than they ever have before (kudos Todd, shows what can be done by somebody with vision), but I don't think they went to 80 g's.

They did it for Coach Madewell I know, and maybe Tidwell too, but I'm not sure.

One thing I'm not gonna do it get on there and debate specific job descriptions and who did what. I had my role in recruiting, as did others, but I'm not going to air it out publicly for somebody who has no accountability. Some of you believe the coaches didn't work hard enough or didn't emphasize what you wanted emphasized, and, follow me here, THAT'S FINE. I told bburch I have no problem with criticism, IT IS PART OF THE JOB. Although, imo, I think you believe wrong. But my opinion is clearly as biased as yours. AFA record, who's hanging their hat on 4 and 5 win seasons and claiming greatness? How many of those seasons is the limit? 1? 3? Is it win 7 a year or you suck? 8? How much do you consider the surrounding circumstances? 5 years ago a 4 win season was considered pretty darn good, we have the warped goal posts to prove it. So when you're pulling a program out of a 39 game skid, how many years do you get before you should be winning 7-8-9 games? 2? 4? I don't think anybody is happy with 4-5 win seasons, and I can guarantee you those coaches hate it a lot worse than you do.

Is that the criteria now? Ok ya got me, I only have one playing college ball. And I'll be the first to admit it's more because of his ability and work ethic than my coaching. bburch- You know I have no problem with legitimate criticism, but blanket statements like: that totally dismiss the effort and accomplishments of a lot of guys gets to me. Maybe the last group didn't get it to the level people would like it and I KNOW they weren't happy with 4 win seasons, but they got it out of the ditch when nobody else wanted it. So maybe it's time for someone new to try and bring it up another notch, I've got no problem with that, but 'fans' shouldn't sit there and ###### about the last group just because they didn't win the region. (Btw, I know you didn't make those statements, was letting you know where I was coming from)

If you don't know what it takes to run a program then how can you get on here and criticize those who may not have done it to your liking? It's heck of a lot more than 'knowing how to coach and win games'. If you are a coach you're not very classy at it by getting on a message board and calling out other coaches. And as a member of the staff that ended a 39 game winning streak and went to the playoffs for the first time in 25 years I take offense to it because I believe you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

Aren't most facility upgrades handled by athletic dept/booster club initiatives instead of the schools paying for them? Have we had anybody try to get a facility upgrade fundraising drive going? If not then it'll never get done and we'll just sit around complaining that we don't have any facilities.

After reading your posts I think you have no clue what goes into running a program.

The way I understand it is the coaches supplements are negotiated with the teachers' salaries thru the union, and what they wanted to do was take the supplements out of the union hands and put them in either the board or AD's hands.

There was an article in the paper today. Not a lot of specifics, but it's pared down to 4 or 5 people, with Tommy Johnson the only one that doesn't have coaching experience here, and all have head coaching experience.

The supplement isn't the big catching point, the base salary in WC is so low our supplement would have to double many counties' supplements just to make up for it.

what is he thinking over...he knows the situation and he knows the school and the community I agree, this is his second go around with them, if he's gotten this far in the process he should know if he wants it. On the other hand, if he's willing to move but can't because he needs to sell his house first, but can't get it sold right now, that is a different situation than if he isn't willing to move. I can understand that they want someone to live here, but they've gotta think real world about it too 'in today's economy', and should work with him if that's the issue.

Also Chris Madewell was Region Coach of the Year. Smith is Scott Smith. Won a title at Ezell-Harding, then went to Independence for a few years, just resigned from Science Hill after a couple years. If he wants somewhere that's not political good luck finding that anywhere, from what I can tell. People I've heard have interviewed: Matt Snow Steve Matthews Crap, there were a couple others but I can't remember them.
