We are still trying for the APSU venue, there are several factors including basketball that have to be dealt with. AP is smart enough to know that it would be good to have 28 High School teams on their campus looking around. CHS is smart enough to know it would be better for the fans to be able to stretch out and have room for coolers, coats, bags etc. TSSAA is used to making money on the event instead of spending money on the event as happens in some other sports. Things to think about, with APSU schedule made years in advance, as is the practice at most schools, would it be worth having it there one year when an opening is there and then back at CHS when some college basketball team is scheduled to be at APSU, could we stand the tight space then back at CHS? What would the cost of the facilities be, could TSSAA stand that cost? CHS loves hosting this event, we can do it in the high school, and have plans to make it better there next year, we could do it at APSU so that every one has room. On my brain is the fact we just had our Region Individuals at a facility that is like a mini APSU, plenty of room to sit, plenty of room around the mats. It was not as exciting viewing the event from a distance, the intensity of cheering for your team when all are spread out seemed less to me. I like the closeness, the noise, the crowds , it makes it EXCITING!!!, but we are still trying to get a deal done at the Peay. Cheatham County did a great job hosting, the excitement was not as high for me and some others.
