  1. Certainly you're not talking about the Milan game?? I thought the Milan QB club member (and TSSAA ref) actually reviewed those plays at the field house after that game and said they were the right call??
  2. I just read the "dirty dozen" in the Jackson Sun and the Cavs had an impressive piece about the Cav Defense. I'm thinking either go and see WV and Crockett or Dresden and Huntingdon. Should be two great games with some high stakes in Weakley County this week. Edited after a good catch by "Beagle"..thanks
  3. I can see that. Westview will need everything to go their way and get some luck. The Cavaliers are loaded and playing like a team ready to make a deep run.
  4. Not a good reference to a school or city...this one needs to be shut down.
  5. No offense about the "frat brawl" reference, I actually took that from one of the current assistants who talked about the mindset that used to be. Nothing wrong with a fraternity.....of men, not boys.
  6. Crockett County travels to Martin for the final game of regular season. CC will definitely be the heavy favorite. Can Westview make it a game? I believe Westview will give them a good test due to the coaches being so familiar with each other??? Run vs. Pass What's the spread??
  7. Accurate post, but there is a difference between a Coach who teaches discipline and those that don't. In the years of Dresden's "smash mouthed" era and that's being real kind today, they lacked discipline and they made more headlines for their antics instead of their play. I'm not saying Rang will ever win State but if he stays in Dresden for the next 3 or 4 years--his W/L record will be better against Huntingdon, because he's better at teaching the game. From an outsider's point of view, Rang has already "earned his stripes" by doing what he has with what he's got to work with. When you treat it like a business, instead of a frat brawl---things generally are more boring, but the result is typically better.
  8. Big Red gets this one...it's getting close to the "real" season
  9. I'm picking the Lions....Huntingdon had a major flaw exposed this past week and can be duplicated. I'll take the Lions by 6. No one was expecting this early on, when the fair weather fans were jumping ship.....Load the box, shoot the LBs through the gaps, and make the QB pass....pretty simple and "no charge". McKenzie made Huntingdon look very pedestrian last week.
  10. Bulldogs by 2 tds....something is going on in Huntingdon????
  11. Dyersburg 39 WV 26 late 4th....it was 24-19 with about 8 to go in the 4th...WV can't run against Dyersburg and too many dropped passes. Dyersburg runs the ball very well and WV didn't tackle too good. Both teams will be in the playoffs...good luck to both on the way in.
  12. I could be wrong, but I believe Huntingdon was probably the most difficult for them so far. That scheme of motion provides the WV defense some problems. Dyersburg is good and I wouldn't be surprised if they got the win, but I believe WV will pull it out by 7.
  13. With all that stuff being said up there and as much as I'd like to see Dresden keep it close, I don't see this being closer than a 28 pointer. No disrespect to the Lions, BUT it is what it is. If D can keep it to 4 scores than it's somewhat of a victory. My hope is 28, but my gut says a little more. I had this one penciled in to what when the season kicked off, but I will probably go see Camden and Huntingdon. Good luck to both squads.
  14. Tough one to pick, but I believe Huntingdon will squeak this one out by 2.
  15. I saw a good game. I wouldn't even say Morris went conservative. The defensive back made a heck of an interception with about 2 minutes to go in the first half when Milan aired it out, after Milan had just picked off WV's QB. If that DB doesn't make that pick, Milan goes in up 21-0 before halftime. That's going for the throat. For all of the "higher" profile matchups I've watched this season, this game was the best. I really like watching the back and forth close battles.
  16. I was on the same side of the field as you and there wasn't any "strip". He got hit and the ball came out of his hand at the top of Milan defender's helmet. Was he throwing?? didn't look like it to me, but the white hat was right there--you're right. Your vantage point must be better than the guy that was 10 feet away....you need to apply to TSSAA and become an official. Good luck against CPA.
  17. I thought it was a fumble as well, but WV recovered it anyway. Momentum shifted and WV's D turned it up a notch in second half. Milan beat themselves tonight...outside of the incompletion/fumble...bad penalties at bad times for the Dawgs. I believe those calls would have had to be made even if they played the game in Milan....too obvious. More importantly, prayers go out to the QB for Milan. Good athlete and good passer. I'll give the WV fans some props too. I was on the South Corner of the endzone on Milan's side and after the crowd applauded the kid, when they were taking him off the field they went to the middle of the WV side and the fans gave him another round as he was being carted down the walkway as the teams had already lined back up to begin play. Classy program
  18. OK..i was off on the score....Mustangs may win out??
  19. Definitely a game of two halves...4 WV turnovers in 4 half and they didn't quit. A big block in the back negated a TD run by Milan and the defensive back got a pass interference late, but he never turned his head around to look for the pass in the endzone and trucked the WV receiver. Both teams are pretty good. Prayers go out to the Milan QB...looked like a fracture right below his knee. Westview's punter might have been the most valuable player of the game..that kid was everywhere and did an excellent job on flipping the field. I expect to see both teams still playing after the regular season.
  20. I'm sticking with WV, but I can see this one going either way. D Lines are about equal..Milan's O-Line is a lot better..."Skill" players are fairly close....who knows...I still say it comes down to 2 or 3 plays....should be a good one tonight.
