  6. Should make Region 7 that much more interesting. 13 AAA vs 14 AAA will go against 15 AAA and 16 AAA for substate/sectionals. So it will be a tough task to say the least this year. It's a lot of good teams out there. Can't wait to see these teams in action.
  7. I'm sorry I wish I would have heard from with you sooner. I've submitted my final schedule for the 2nd time lol yesterday to my AD.
  8. Millington's play day is October 31st and the teams are: Millington Manassas Braircrest Hillcrest Ridgeway Bolivar Fairley Hamilton Munford Liberty Tech Germantown Covington White Station
  9. Millington will have a play day scrimmage on October 31st. I will get back to you on the teams and schedule.
  10. NO SIR she is at the University of Georgia However, her baby sister is there and she is one tough cookie herself!!! Bartlett is gonna be fine. They will be young but I'm sure they will surprise a lot of teams with how they come out and compete this season.
  11. MTown, none of those teams are sleepers!!! Those are some really good teams and everyone should know about them... Southwind is very good and very BIG!!! We played them this summer and it was like a playoff game, blood, sweat and good basketball, literally!! I think we won by about 8. It was a really good game though and my young girls got to see that they have to elevate their game to be able to compete.
  12. I'm really excited about this year. It's really going to be some interesting teams in the Memphis area. What are your thoughts and who are some of the players to watch and what teams will be sleepers?
  13. Jasmine Newsome- Millington, Lauren Avant-Lausanne, Jasmine Robinson-Overton, Heather Butler-Gibson County. That's all I can think of right now. Trying to shake the dust off this brain. It's basketball time soon.
  14. Congrats JJ on another POY award!
  15. Yesterday was a special day for the Millington girls basketball program. My first two freshmen were honored last night at their senior honors banquet. These two young ladies have been with me from the beginning and it is an awesome feeling to see both LaTesa McLaughlin (3.95 gpa) and Michele Brown (3.8 gpa) signed to play basketball at the next level, plus graduate with honors. They will be greatly missed!
  16. Congrats to Michele Brown on her signing last Thursday with Paine College. She is very deserving of this honor. We had 3 seniors this year and they all signed to play at the next level.
  17. Congrats to Michele Brown on her signing last Thursday with Paine College. She is very deserving of this honor. We had 3 seniors this year and they all signed to play at the next level.
  18. I saw Tim Last week and he is looking good. He has gained his strength back and is playing for a Junior college in Alabama. He averaged about 9 points during the season but averaged around 12 in the tournament. He is doing a lot better. Keep praying for this awesome young man. I will continue to give updates.
  19. Two of the 3 young ladies won 113 games while the other came her sophomore season and won 99 in their careers at Millington. 113-29 with 18 of their losses coming their Freshmen year with no summer preparation prior to that season. Once they got a summer to learn and time to grasp the system, they took it and ran with it. I'm very proud of them. Out of this senior class we have a state and metro record holder in steals in a season and career and three point baskets in a single game, All-Metro, All-District, All-Region, All-State, and a McDonald's All American Nominee. On top of that, they were the pioneers of turning a program around that went 4-29 the year before they got there. Their last 3 seasons they've gone 99-11, state runner up, won the regular season district title the last 3 seasons and won the district and regional tournament the last 2 seasons. You also hold the school record for most wins in a single season, the longest winning streak in school history as well as the longest home winning streak in school history. Your hard work helped propel your school into the national spotlight. Congrats, Ashley, LaTesa and Michele as you enter your college careers and leave behind a legacy that will stand for a very long time! You all will be missed! Looking forward to a signing party for the last senior really soon.
  20. Thanks for the vote of confidence but that hijacking took place in Sectionals/substate... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  21. They were from Memphis. I haven't seen 2 of the officials before but that lady I think she started last year. Well that's when I first saw her. It was some issues then too. That sounds good. Look forward to being in it again.
  22. As far as our SOS our out of state games affected us and the lack of some teams putting their games online did too. I'm not too concerned about that SOS actually. When it all boils down to it, teams gotta just play with whomever they are up against. West TN will be fine.
  23. Millington had 8 turnovers, shot 17 for 19 from the free throw line, made 17 (2) point baskets and 5 (3) point baskets. We missed some easy baskets that we should have made. However, I was aware of the tough night we had with the officials but after watching the film I'm left a little confused about some rules. Is it a lane violation if a person steps in the lane before the ball hits the rim and I'm not talking a milli second where it is not easy to see but just as the ball is in the middle of the lane heading to the rim or just as the ball is released. This happened 8 times. The toughest thing to overcome was how the 1st quarter ended. The score was Millington 18 to 16 and Overton got a rebound and started a fast break and a foul was called on Jasmine Newsome. Newsome walked to the sideline to prepare to sit the last 23 seconds of the 1st quarter because she had gotten her 3rd foul and she was standing by the coach's box and saw her sub at the table and sat down and I reminded her that she had to get up and she stood right up. The lady official, not sure of her name, turned and gave her a technical foul so instead of Overton getting 2 free throws and Millington getting the ball back, they get 4 free throws and the ball. During this last 23 seconds they make a three due to a bad rotation on defense. So they scored 7 points in 23 seconds without making us turn it over. Instead of the quarter being tied 18 to 18 at worst we were down 23 to 18. An intentional foul was called by the same official when we were down 3 with a little less than a minute to go in the game when we hit the ball out of the girls hand but she said that we went for the body so they got 2 shots and the ball and was given it the full length of the floor. Just a little confused on some rules but Overton is a very tough and well coached team. This game had the energy of a state tournament game. Other than the officials both teams fought hard and made some really exciting plays that the fans enjoyed.
  24. Bartlett led 15 to 6 in the 1st, 21 to 16 at the half. Millington led after 3 quarters 36 to 35. Millington finished with the lead 55-48. Very slow start for Millington, poor execution and going through the motions vs a very motivated Bartlett team proved to be a bad mixture for us. We woke up in the 2nd. Senior post Michele Brown had 25 and was named MVP. All tournament team for Millington was Ashley Robinson, Jasmine Newsome and LaTesa McLaughlin.
