    9-11

It may be a little late to catch all of you that visit this site. Just remember our troops and those people who lost their lives that tragic day. Never forget and everyone...good luck tonight, be safe, and let freedom ring!
  2. Everyone except those in Roane Co. think that Coalfield will beat Harriman. To give credit where it is do, Coalfield has an excellent ball team. They have beat Harriman in the past. They probably will beat them tonight, but I wouldn't want to play Harriman right now. They have played 2 3A schools and give them all they wanted. Sequoyah is a pretty good team. Harriman made Kingston look downright awful. Harriman is riding high on emotion. They got nothing to lose. People expect them to lose, or atleast for a few more games. They shut Wartburg out... which is something the Devils haven't done to any team in a long time. I look forward to a good game between these two teams. I think Coalfield has the edge, especially after injuries to Harriman players, but I see Harriman hanging in tough and possibly pulling out the win.
  3. Rockwood's line is different from last year, but to say that they are worse is to be mistaken. This line is better at pass blocking, and they are getting better at run blocking. The line averages about 260 accross the board. The line is bigger than last year, better...maybe not...only time will tell. As for Friday, the talking still continues and I admit from both sides. This isn't just your average football game. The talking stops Friday in the jungle.
  4. It is time to find out who is the elite and who should be discreet. Rockwood looked bad the 1st half against Midway, but shut them down and physically beat them in the 2nd half. Sweetwater had 260 yards total offense and their run-D was excellent against South Pit. If Rockwood plays an entire game like they did the second half versus Midway, Rockwood will be hard to stop. Sweetwater will rely on Dustin, who will be a handful. Sweetwater has been talking the talk that they are the number one team in the region. We will see on Friday if they walk the walk, or stumble and fall. ATP!

  6. Oliver Springs and Coach Johnson are remaining awfully quiet. From what I have seen and read about them in Roane Co. Football Media guide, they look pretty good. Region teams better not overlook them or count them out.
  7. By the way, the Tigers play Midway tonight at Pemberton field @ 7:30 p.m. The GreenWave have a pretty tough team and so it should be a great game to come out an watch. Go Tigers! ATP
  8. Yes, Rockwood won a state championship in 1976 and it is one we all cherish. I am proud of anyone who was associated with that team, my team, or any other RHS football team. But lets get real. How many 300 pound players were on the team. How many could bench 300+ or squat 450 +. Times change and so does the competition. Recruiting is a real thing. Private schools have an advantage because they can offer things that a public school can't. Winning a state championship can happen, but I believe it is tougher now than it ever was, especially living in a town with 5000 people. As for firing on about the coaches, your opinion is just that...your opinion. It is easy to be an armchair quarterback, and I must admit... I wonder what Phil Fulmer is thinking sometimes, but I only see certain things. I don't know what goes on at practice everyday. I only know when I get invited to watch them practice. I only know what the rest of the media knows. Why do you think 99.1 talks about Vol football so much. People like me... Webb and his coaching staff are just doing the best they know how. I think 3 trips to the playoffs are pretty good. Last year was a great year for football with a huge win over Kingston. This year is yet to be decided. As for freshman getting playing time...I know when I played, if you had freshman playing, there was trouble...no depth, or lack of quality players. I have only seen 2 freshman in all my years ever be able to step out on the field and play with the big boys from the very first time they strapped on the helmet (weren't at RHS). As the season progresses, Webb and his coaches will work on depth, but for right now winning football games seems to be the main goal. Bigcat, I appreciate your opinion, but I don't agree with it. Watch and see and at the end of the season, you don't see improvement, then fire off at the Coaches...that's my opinion.
  9. Good point mac, got my regions and a's mixed up. Region 2a ... or 1aa.. a12 whatever it is... Seriously, Midway will give Oneida, Greenback, and Coalfield something to think about. Rockwood better come out and show a little ATP. If so, Rockwood wins.
  10. From what I have seen of Midway, they run the ball hard. They will suprise Region 1AA this year. They have some really fine players. 55, 67, 8, 12, and a few more are going to be tough to handle. As for the Tigers...The team did well against Knox Catholic in their scrimmage. Knox Catholic went to the state finals last year. The Tigers have gotten better but still need to keep pushing forward. The line is big, but inexperienced in spots. We will see on Thursday what each team is made of.
  11. Hooty and Nate are too much for Bearden. Go Rebels!
  12. Its good to see the streak finally end. Congrats to Coach Tapp, Coach Daugherty, and Coach Dykes. I don't have much comment about the game.

Common sense and fair treatment are all anyone wants. Coaches need to have discipline and command over their team. Parents need to let coaches coach. Parents also need to know and trust that their Coaches are there for one thing: Helping kids become men. Coaches need to keep in mind that Bear Bryant was a great coach, but his methods will never work again. Society won't put up with it. Players need to keep in mind that they are part of a brotherhood, and that you want to be able to trust the guys beside you, to back you, no matter what. Common sense and fair treatment... Some of us need to give this a try.
  14. Things are looking up in Rockwood. We continue to get better, but still are making too many mistakes to be called good. We haven't reached our potential, which is not all a bad thing. We must continue to work hard and push towards greatness. We looked forward to hosting the Green Wave on Thursday the 26 at 7:30.
  15. I am not sure how good my sources are, but Midway scrimmaged Sweetwater and supposedly beat them. Is this true? As for Midway they are a talented team. They are sure to come out and smack Rockwood in the mouth. I have heard that their defense has a nasty attitude and will out right get after you. Offensively, they are an option based team and have two running backs who get time at QB. It will be the only game around on Thursday Aug 26. Many will be out to watch. We will see if Rockwood will be ready, or if Midway will put a nasty taste in the Tigers mouth.
  16. Unfortunately for Harriman, this is not the week they break there dreaded streak. Sequoyah is a solid team. They run a lot of misdirection plays and have many different formations. Harriman still lacks the depth to play with a 3a school. Good luck to the Blue Devils, but it looks like they will suffer another defeat.
  17. Knox West has some pretty good athletes. Heritage still seems to be a bit down, or atleast that is the way it seemed at Webb's passing league. Update the score and highlights when afterwards.
  18. It is good to get in a big freshman class like we did this year. There are a few players that could have some impact, but we are not relying on the freshman team to help us win. Afterall, they are still freshman. Depth is always a concern for a 2aa school. Defensively, we are working multiple players in. The problem is keeping the play from dropping off when replacing starters with 2nd and 3rd string. Depth is continuing to build. Some surprises have happened for us in the off-season. Hopefully the Tigers depth will continue to grow. We have to continue to get better and hopefully develop more depth.
  19. I am not sure if there is anyone in the region that can handle Alcoa. Lots are saying Sweetwater might, but I doubt it. Jam was there best athlete last year, and Alcoa is loaded with athletes. They have a great chance at a state title over the next two years. Sweetwater has got a good couple of backs in Lathom and B.....?? the FB. Big bruisers, but that is not enough versus the talent that Alcoa has. Lyndsey, #2, and the QB plus a host of others are going to be too much for Region 2 to handle.
  20. The Tellico scrimmage helped Rockwood get better. The backs ran better, the line blocked better and the Defense played well. Depth continues to grow as younger players are finding out what it takes to play high school football. The tigers still have a ways to go before they can be considered a good team, but it was a step in the right direction. Catholic is coming up next Friday at Rockwood. This has been a learning experience for the tigers the past two years. Catholic has dominated the Tigers. This will be a true test for Rockwood and really show the team whether or not they will be a contender or pretender.
  21. When is the scrimmage? Who won? Wartburg---What does the team look like? Sunbright---Have you gotten better from last year? What do you expect?
  22. The favorite in Region 2 is Alcoa then Sweetwater and then Rockwood. Oliver Springs is also in the mix somewhere. Meigs will play Rockwood in the Regular season at Meigs County. Meigs Co. seems to be much improved. We look forward to the match up.
  23. Actually it was 17-13. Rockwood made a 30 yard field goal. The teams were pretty evenly matched but Rockwood seemed to have the edge. They scored on a smashmouth type of drive that started at the Rockwood 20 and ended with a 10 yard rush by Ellery Harvest. The other Touchdown came off a 50 yard pass by Corey Payne. Sequoyah is much improved from two years ago. The coaching staff has done an excellent job there. Rockwood still has some improvement to go, but they got some things accomplished. They face Tellico Plains on Thursday at 6 p.m. Next Friday (I believe) they face Knox Catholic. They always come to play.
  24. There is a lot of potential in this team. From what I 've seen they are lacking a nasty disposition. The line is big and there are enough players to make a decent ball team. They still have a ways to go if they want to compete for the Region Championship. This year will depend on the attitudes of the players, whether they have good senior leadership, and how they will react when the feet are put to the fire in close games. Only time will tell if this team reaches its full potential.
  25. The Rockwood Tigers are praying for you and your family Goose. God Bless and take care.
