  1. Greeneville played without their lockdown defender in the game last year, without question Greeneville wins the ballgame if Seth Ottinger didn't have the flu and Lance Bailey had to play. Gash was not a scorer last year, it was Wiggins and Wes Woods' job to score while Gash distributed. And if I remember correctly the game you speak of with Poore and Malone, DB had a good team as well. Went to the state tournament that year. and what does IMAC coaching have to do with it??? Do you not think Science Hill would love to have Duncan with their talent?? Just look at the lack of talent he has now and what he has done this year with a "two man team". All of you people from the Big 9 are so arrogant. How many times has a big nine team been to the state tournament in the last few years??????? Less than Greeneville. and with 3000 students I believe I could find 8 players a lot easier than finding 8 in a school of 850. And it would be an upset because you are 27-3 and in your mind there is no way you will lose tonight. would you not consider it an upset?? Oh by the way you wanna talk about officiating last year in the game, how bout the turning point of the game when Wiggins was two feet from being out of bounds and they said he was on the baseline?????
  2. Does anyone remember last year when us Greeneville people were on here trash talking asking whether we were gonna win by 20 or 30????? Remember what happened that night????? We lost on a buzzer beater to DB!!! Devastation hit Greeneville because with Antwaine Wiggins we felt we were poised to make a run at a state championship!!! Didn't happen!! All im saying is DB is the better team, but so was Greeneville last year. Just because everything looks better on paper doesn't mean anything. Gash is the type of player that if they play man on him could explode for about 40. and as big as DB is J Short has moves and athleticism on the inside and can shoot the three. Key number for the game is 25. If Greeneville can get a combined 25 points from the other three starters and John Pendelton coming off the bench there COULD be an upset brewing. I know all you big nine people think there is no way that either of the almighty teams could get beat, but don't be surprised if one or both get beat. Another thing to remember, Coach Bill Duncan, Duncan is one of the best coaches in Tennessee and has an uncanny ability to win games that he "is not supposed" to win. Look at Maryville and Lee Humphrey, Science Hill three years ago, Arby's classic last year. One thing is a lock, Greeneville will be in the game because of their great Defense and Duncan's gameplan. However, being in it and winning it are two totally different things. Just don't be too shocked if the upset occurs, Greeneville fans felt how deflating it is to think there is no way a team can beat you and for them to end your season. Safe travel from JC and Kingsport tonight, hopefully the weather isn't too bad on you guys.
  3. Do you not think that the teams who finish one and two in their district should get an advantage in the first round?? To me thats kinda like a sixteen seed complaining about where they play the number one seed. Your argument just lacks sensible foundation to it. And as far as being a small town Greeneville only has a little over 800 students, which by the way constitutes as a small school and is much smaller than the other IMAC schools like West, East, and Jeff CO. In fact, Greeneville should be playing double AA ball because of its size. You sound like Tennessee basketball fans to me (I'm a Kentucky fan) Everytime they lose to us there is an excuse about everything, when it really just comes down to you being jealous and bitter because you can't beat us. Get your town's game up and stop complaining, until then come visit me in Murfreesboro every year.
  4. All I Gotta say is Big 9, who is your daddy??? That'd be the IMAC!!! Go lady Devils
  5. Spinmove, do you have any more excuses? You lost, get over it. I bet those girls and coaches are not saying if we didn't play in a dome or be in a small locker room we would have won. They would tell you they just didn't execute and play their game as good as they needed to in order to win a road regional game. As for Greeneville, do you not think we are appreciative that we have one of the better middle school programs in Tennessee feeding our high school, and oh by the way get it right our goal is not to host sub-state its to make it to the state tournament, which in Che-ro-kee is just more like a dream. Stop complaining it doesn't make those girls who played hard all year look good.
  6. dont know what your talking about but nobody has trashed anybody that is just someones opinion. Even Greeneville's coach tells people that "this pitcher" gives up too many home run balls and base hits on 0-2 counts. So go tell him what you think. Someone stating their opinion is not trashing them if they said this guy stinks he cant pitch at all and called out players that were making errors that would be bad mouthing, and as far as the pitching goes Greenway is # 1 with Knight behind him and Cody Duncan next, as of right now. But there was never any trashing of anybody, just facts.
  7. Actually Greenway will probably start the first game and Cut will relieve him and Cody Duncan will probably start the second game. It could be Duncan relieving Greenway and Cut starting the second game but either way Greeneville's Defense has to show up and continue to hit or it wont matter who piches against a very good East team. If Greeneville could split the double header it would be huge for them to take two of three from one of the two conference favorites.
  8. Young D but also a Senior pitcher who really has a tendency to give up the long ball. Most of the time in uncalled for pitches on 0-2 counts. Good game by Knight last night as long as his D plays for him and he keeps the ball in the park he is tough.
  9. Greenway pitched four innings of 1 run 3 hit ball. (He is Greenevilles ace, not cutshaw and for sure not Knight, Cody Duncan is probably greenevilles 2nd best pitcher) Cutshaw came in in the fifth and gave up four earned runs in 3 innings. Also with men on first and second GHS's CF made a play at the warning track to save the game. Cutshaw is probably Greeneville's fourth or fifth best For sure not 1 or 2 and probably not three.
  10. Man I am a greeneville fan too but you need to be realistic. Greeneville all the way? How bout HOPEFULLY we win thursday to get to the final four then WE HAVE TO PLAY OUR BEST GAME TO BEAT CLEVELAND AND THEN IF WE MAKE IT TO THE FINALS WHO IS GONNA GUARD ANNA MARIE LANNING? I hope greeneville wins too but all the way? Get serious and stop making Greeneville fans look stupid.
  11. Dont complain about the system just cause your team is not there. Win and make it and maybe you can go next year.
  12. Ok give me some feedback on this, Both of Greeneville's last two games guys vs. DB and girls vs. Science Hill came down to the wire with a last second shot winning both. As a coach would fouling go through your mind? The reason i ask is both db and greeneville girls were in 1 plus 1 on their final possession. Even if they hit both free throws you know your gonna get the ball back with about 15 to 20 seconds in each game and have a chance to tie it back or win it. But would you all consider fouling in these situations?
  13. Ok, so add that up DB has 1000 more kids than greeneville, just a little larger selection to find "SIX" players that are better than the SEVEN that Greeneville played. It was a great game and why can everybody not just say that instead of bashing Duncan because of his opinion, by the way you win over 700 games and you can question whoever you want whenever you want until you go to five state tournaments and win 700 games maybe you should shut your mouth. DB played a great game and the kid that hit the game-winner was hitting that shot all night, therefore HOW does he get THAT WIDE OPEN? And you people wanna talk about conditioning Greeneville played a trapping D almost the entire night while DB sat back in a zone for much of the game. Its a little easier on your condition when you play a zone rather than trapping. Greeneville played their hearts out and free throws were the difference in the game, If greeneville hits their free throws they win the game, bottom line regardless of how many free throws DB shot.
  14. But there were a couple of quotes by the coach in the paper this morning. It was a little different but it was nice reading what she had to say about it in the LOCAL paper..............................guess Wayne Phillips came through after all!
  15. Hey, dont complain. Lets fly in under the radar. Teams have started to forget about us since the thrashing we were handed at Science Hill. While I agree that Bradley Central should not have jumped us just be quiet our guys now have a chip on their shoulder to play with.
  16. Currently he has offers from Miami, Michigan, and Tennessee. And many other coaches including Billy Donovan and Rick Pitino have sent him letters and stuff saying that if he makes it to the state tourny they would personally be there to watch him.
  17. Antwaine Wiggins from Greeneville in AAA. For Antwaine's sake do not just look at the head to head with Wattad. Wiggins was sick and sprained his ankle the night before vs. Cherokee. Wiggins is the leading scorer and rebounder in East tennessee, but he also plays Defense well along with being one of the best passers and ball handlers at 6'7" I have ever seen.
  18. Saturday was complete domination by Science Hill. This game was over when Science Hill scored the first five points of the game. I have talked to many of the Greeneville players this morning and the same comment keeps coming up "Wiggins and Woods had no clue what kind of environment they were getting ready to play in" this is completely true. Wiggins played scared and Woods was rushing his jumper everytime. By far the best game Science Hill has played this season. Greeneville was much more highly regarded around the state going into Saturday, this just proves that when you have a target on you going into a VERY TOUGH place to play against a very good team you must expect the atmosphere. This game makes me think about Roy Williams taking a bunch of freshman and sophomores into Cameron Indoor Feb 7 ranked in the top five. One thing different though Roy Williams is not too stubborn to play a zone, Coach Duncan has never played a zone and probably never will. He should have made some changes early the other night that were never made. But if i were Daniel Boone I would not look forward to a ticked off Greeneville team coming into my gym tomorrow night! Great game by Omar and Science Hill, the Worst game played by Wiggins and Greeneville. There will be a rematch in the region finals but who can really look forward to that from Greeneville right now? P.S Miami and Michigan have offered Wiggins a full ride and immediate playing time even though he didnt show that the other night.
  19. Have you all actually seen Greeneville play? I know those West Tennessee teams are much more athletic and offense oriented, but Greeneville prides themselves on Defense. They may not play a tough schedule outside of tournaments, but they always play everybody tough. I am certainly not saying Greeneville would beat RE or Oakland, but until you know what a team has maybe you should not dog them so much. I hope Greeneville gets down to the state tourney so everybody could see how they stack up, again not saying they would beat these teams, but they WOULD play with them.
  20. Antwaine Wiggins from Greeneville....His Stats: 26 points a game, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals.
  21. Ok, now that you have put an excuse for every loss, here is my thoughts Cleveland great game, Lexington Catholic in the second half they turn up the heat and Greeneville scores nine points in the second half, Wilson Central always plays in your face Defense=Loss 67-38. They beat Archbishop Carrol but was up big and AC started pressing and got themselves back in the game. Webb does not play in your face D, they play very solid D but they do not press or anything of that nature. Carter is used to having the security blanket of Lyons and then Forney, she no longer has that and she is not helped out by the Coaches press O which is basically get it in and Whitney get it up the court.
  22. Yeah....Morgan did hit two big free throws. But about the point gaurd and turnovers. What is the reason Greeneville lost to Lexington Catholic? They turned up the pressure and Carter turned the ball over. What got Greeneville beat against Shelbyville in the final four last year? Three costly turnovers by Carter that led to a seven nothing run at the end of the third. And Lamons does NOTHING on the court. She is scared to death when she gets the ball she cant shoot, her defense is ok on some nights, but anyways...MARK THESE WORDS the team that ends Greeneville's season down the road will be a team that plays pressure defense and causes turnovers.
  23. Ok chatterbox...answer this one. Even if she does turn the ball over some who doesnt for Greeneville? Whitney Carter is probably about -5 on her assist/turnover ratio. And plus HAVE YOU EVER SEEN MORGAN LAMONS PLAY? SHE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST STARTER OF ANY OUT OF THE TOP TEN TEAMS IN AAA. SO WHO SHOULD PLAY RACHEL COLLINS OR MORGAN LAMONS? NO BRAINER THERE.
  24. The last good coach? What about Coach Duncan at Greeneville? Sure he has not won any state championships, but Greeneville has won the District Five times out of the Five years he has been there, Two or Three region championships, can't really remember, and three sub-state wins, along with one final four! Oh yeah, He has a career 703 wins. His talent has really never been as good as what Pitts had, but his numbers except for state titles can stand up to anybody's in Tennessee.
  25. Underneath??? obviously you know nothing about what greeneville is going to do this year concerning Wiggins. He is playing a gaurd posistion and his shot is smooth. Just look at the Land-Air Classic results, Greeneville may not make it to state but they will contend for that right. And, if Tremaine plays to his potential and stays under control and leads the team Greeneville will be a team to contend with and Wiggins is one of the best players in the State, not because he is talented, but he makes everyone on the floor a better basketball player.
