  1. ???Streaks usually all end at some point and it would be a nice thing to end this streak.??? Comment by Kentucky coach Rich Brooks. Different teams same logic. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
  2. I don't know about classless. I would call it a form of respect and fear. As the saying goes "you only hate what you fear." Its like the Dallas Cowboys, The lakers and celtics, Duke, North Carolina, and Kentucky basketball. Florida football. You are either a die hard fan of those teams or you hate them. Its what winning brings. When a team/franchise is as successful as Maryville has been you expect to be hated. But Maryville, like all of these great teams thrives on the trash talking. J.J Redick was the subject of many hateful things when he played at Duke, but it only made him play better. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
  3. And The Giants weren't much different than the Patriots first 18 games, in fact they were one of those 18 games. Miami had no chance to lose to Maurice Clarett and Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. Miami was never going to lose to Va Tech and lose the longest winning streak in the history of college football. George Mason had no shot to make it to the Final Four. The American college kids had no chance to beat the mighty Russians in 1980. The USC Trojans were being called the best team in college football history in 2005, Texas had no chance, Vince Young didn't listen to all the "experts". Golden State had no chance to beat the Dallas Mavericks in a seven game series a couple years ago. THE POINT OF ALL THIS IS VERY SIMPLE....."ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!" If Greeneville listens to all the "experts" they have "no chance to beat the Mighty Marryville Rebels" BUT if they just block out the world and everyone wearing a Green jersey believes in themselves and the coaching staff and come together "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE"
  4. Just a feeling. I just believe that Coach McCurry will have Greeneville ready and will come up with a scheme to put points on the board. Trevon Hall is one of the best athletes in East Tennessee and very rarely does one or even two tacklers bring him down. You say you get beat on the deep ball several times. So, to me that says that a top notch receiver has a chance to make a couple of plays downfield. I could be completely wrong, but I just believe that this will be a better game than what most people expect, but by no means am I "predicting" anything such as a Greeneville win. That is just insane to predict a team like Greeneville will beat a team as talented and well coached as Marryville.
  5. How many times have you seen Trevon Hall and Ryan Fillers play? Both can play D-1 football, and yes I know Maryville has more of those type of players, but Greeneville WILL score over 17 points. Also about "the streak" in the words of coach McCurry "I could really care less about Marryville winning 73 games in a row. We don't have to beat them 73 times, we only HAVE TO BEAT THEM ON ONE NIGHT" in the words of Kevin Garnett after the Celtics won the NBA championship last year "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!"
  6. Greeneville is a for sure conf. champ this year with Braylon Loyd at point......Jordan Short on the wing along with bryan Everhart who can shoot the lights out of it.......and troy hopson and trey anderson down low.........which is untill Wes Quarells gets out of football along with the fastest kid at greeneville high Landon Morrison who can also fill it up!!! Game OVER nobody touches them in the conference
  7. Well all i'm going to say is that Greenevilles coaching staff knows exactly why the south running back had a big game.......They tackled poorly!!! But beware that won't happen this time greeneville is gonna come out ready to play with Barner running 100 % now and Trevon Hall playing as well as we've seen him and tyler stewart and the D stopping the run the only thing Greeneville needs to be worried about is the South Arial attack!!! Plain and simple GO Devils!!!
  8. Wont some of the AA schools that come to GHS to play think that that has to be the most awesome high school facility that they have been in? It is very nice!
  9. But, Coach Gat, I talked to you in person during the games that night, right before the Bartlett game, (I had on the Kentucky stuff). But as a coach you have to know that you want you're team to make the other team prove that they are capable of doing something they haven't yet proved they can do. Congratulations on a great run and I have much greater respect for you after talking to you and watching you coach this weekend. And hindsight is realizing something after the game. On this though, I told the guy I was sitting next to at the end of the first quarter that I would have started the second quarter in a zone. I truly believe that gave Greeneville the best chance of winning the ball game. As far as Nicole trying to do too much, she had to. Devin was scared to shoot, Shipley and Kelley were as well. If nobody else wants to take the shots then I want my best player taking the shots with confidence. And About Blair what did giving him year after year get us???? NOTHING. And I feel thats where this tenure is heading. Blair's last year, Beth Bryant, Christie Fisher, Maegan Lyons, Nakeisha Manuel, Alex White, the best team in Greeneville history Blair found a way to lose with them. Winning championships comes down to coaching and gameplanning because when you get to the State Tournament or Final Four in College everybody can play just as good as your girl/guy. so in the end it comes down to which coach has a better gameplan and which team executes it better. Correct CoachGat????
  10. I want to appologize to all of you from 14AAA good job on getting to the state tourney and I hope you don't prove me wrong though LOL!!!! Safe Travel from West Tennessee, should be some great basketball tomorrow.
  11. But, you do coach in Memphis correct??? And thats not my personal opinion thats just how much of the state feels about Memphis, thus the reason for East TN calling it Memphis, Arkansas. And you totally avoided my point coach.
  12. All im saying is do you not have more important things to do other than be on here constantly??? See my point is do you see Burkey, Oak Ridge's coach, Wilson Central's coach, Crumbley, Smyrna's coach, Cleveland's coach, or many other coaches on here??? Shouldn't you be watching film or doing something more productive than getting on here. Its one thing for fans to be on here but when a Coach is on here as much as you are that is a little annoying. Just tell me how you can possibly be as prepared for the task at hand when you are too busy posting on here. And you're from Memphis, you guys are cocky without even realizing it because its part of your culture.
  13. First off please learn how to spell Greeneville, secondly when you have posted like ten to fifteen times on two different threads that is wasting a lot of time that could be spent much more wisely than what he is using it for. Do you not agree with that??? That's the only point im trying to make.
  14. No to me that is giving your team credit since they had two guys who played varsity basketball this year, I played varsity last year and we had the two leading women's basketball scorers in Greeneville history. I think it does them good to practice against people better than them rather than to practice against five freshmen. And we'll see who's sucking on what about three thirty on Thursday when the mighty west is once again eliminated.
  15. I'm not saying he has said anything bad, but if it were my coach, or any coach for that matter it is foolish to be on here posting anything when you have much more important things you could be taking care of. As a future coach I already know that there are things of much greater importance to be taking care of when getting ready to play in the state tournament. There is no reason to be on here defending your team, you should be worried about them doing it with their play not by their coach running their mouth.
  16. Oh yeah, fantastic tournament there WOOOO HOOO!!!!! Wow, White Station??? Houston??? Germantown??? Northside??? Manassas??? Mitchell??? East??? Melrose??? Yeah thats some amazing teams, if they were playing in a middle school tournament. You west tennessee people ever want a real tournament just come to Greeneville for the GreenBank ladies classic, (rated the 2nd best holiday tournament nationally) Where we had Greeneville, Upperman (AA state tournament) South Greene (AA substate), Briarcrest Christian, Mt. Juliet, Wilson Central, Lake Mary FL (4 straight 4 AAAA state championships in Florida, 4 D1 signees), Tennessee High, and Science Hill. So you tell me, which tournament is tougher??? not even a question. And by the way CoachGat you talk like you're Millington's head coach. Shouldn't you be studying film, getting your travel plans ready, having practice, teaching, but no you're too busy talking trash on CoachT. You probably play ball at the YMCA instead of studying film the night before a big game. But its understandable you live in a place where everybody is an "athlete" and is very arrogant. Your record is about as impressive as your Memphis Tigers, because neither of you have played anybody. And just like the mighty vols did we're coming to show the state just exactly how overrated you are.
  17. And many of them probably would be playing if they played in W. TN instead of Middle or East. The facts are simple. Wilson Central, Shelbyville, and Oak Ridge have more state championships than any west tennessee teams (combined) have ever even made it to the state championship. West TN is just a bunch of "athletes" who can't play ball at the state level because they want to run too much and when taken out of that game they have no half court game at all.
  18. No, but everybody knows that their is no comparison in west tennessee to middle and east tennessee in girls basketball. West Tennessee will be winless in the BORO!!!!! AS USUAL!!!!!!!
  19. Coach Gat, I was thinking Bartlett when I posted that but I was watching the Houston Rockets and for some reason put Houston lol. And Im not trying to say you're team isn't good but when is the last time a team from Memphis did anything in the State Tournament???? And I hope the 1-1-3 is your style of defense. That may be good against a bunch of "athletes" from Memphis, but that leaves too many holes for a halfcourt O. And we wanna slow it down, so any kind of zone you wanna play is greatly appreciated. Ghsbballfan, your so right about how these girls work together. There is no doubt they play for each other as much as themselves, most take this lightly but it leads to things such as the extra pass for a layup instead of a ten footer. After the substate game the entire team, even their coaches went to applebees to eat and celebrate. Its about time we take our A game to Murfreesboro.
  20. Nicole is around 6", so what if its five ten players are listed taller than they actually are all of the tme. Do say Nicole is not very good is just foolish. She does take possessions off, but the great ones can do that. I have ySet to see a player in Tennessee that I would want the ball in her hands more than I would want Nicole to control it. And by no means was I saying Nicole is as talented as Candace Parker. Nobody is but Candace Parker. But if you have 40 years of experience and have seen Nicole play, you obviously haven't seen Parker play because Dickson is used in the exact same way. She can play any position and for the most part play them as good as anybody in the state. Millington facts- Run a 1-1-3 defense that traps when the ball is gone to the corner, the wings are left open for threes and if the ball goes to the courner the elbow of the free throw line is open almost all the time. This is dangerous and plays into Greeneville's hands because Kelley can be deadly from there, and even better Dickson gets the ball at the elbow you can chalk up two points or an assist. Best player is a 6 foot post who likes to beat and bang in the paint. Have a girl who shoots 45% from behind the three point line. Strength of Schedule is 69th (Memphis basketball is weak). Young team certainly lacking the experience Greeneville has. 35-1, loss coming to Houston.
  21. West Tennessee basketball is not known for their girls teams. Yes Millington is 35-1 but looking at their schedule nothing jumps out at you and says wow thats an impressive win. Being from Memphis they are probably going to be very athletic and will want to make us get out and run. Tempo will be a key part of this game. If Greeneville can keep the score around 45 or lower Greeneville wins. Im not going to predict anything because I haven't seen them play.
  22. Nicole is about the same size as Rachel Collins, Collins may be a little bigger at 6'2" and Dickson at 6'. Dickson is Greeneville's Candace Parker (of course there is a talent difference but they are used almost exactly alike) Dickson brings the ball up the floor plays forward, guard, and post. Can shoot from deep play facing the basket and has one of the best turnarounds in Women's basketball, PERIOD. She is gonna score her 20-30 points. The key to beating Greeneville is pressing them and making them turn the ball over. We were up 30 in the sub-state game and started turning the ball over and had to hang on to win. The key for Greeneville offensively is PG Devin McIntyre (sp?) and SG 2 guard Morgan Shipley. If these two are knocking down shots from the outside its usually a long night for the opponent. Rachel Collins has the ability to dominate the paint if she plays aggressively. Expect this In your Face D from the opening tip. Dickson 20-30, Collins 10-15 and the rest of the gang will be the deciding factor. Brianna Kelley is deadly from 10 to 15 feet.
  23. Ha, yeah your right it is hard to go wrong when jumping on the Maryville Rebels wagon lol. And no doubt there is a huge difference in the campuses. Not to mention the many more students he would have an opportunity to meet and become friends with, but there is nothing wrong with playing college ball anywhere. As for Omar, I talked to him tonight after the Georgetown game (which he got an oppurtunity to play a few minutes in) and I told him just what you are saying, Hang in there buy your time and you'll get to play. And said just sit there and enjoy watching one of the great big men in college play, but seriously how sweet would it be to see Omar, Antwaine, and Tony White Jr. (Bearden) on the same floor playing together??? I would pay to see that.
  24. I guess if your team isn't good enough to beat us you must jump on someones bandwaggon. And I agree 100% with your thoughts about your son, I do think he can play ball at the next level and the education is more important than being known for playing college sports. However, I disagree with the Wattad comment. Wiggins had offers from Miami, Michigan, and Louisville (who spanked Georgetown a few weeks ago) I'm really good friends with both Antwaine and Omar and Antwaine starts and plays over 30 minutes a ball game and is very happy that he went somewhere he could contribute. Omar on the other hand is disappointed and frustrated because he doesn't play. He is considering transferring after this year to, yep you guessed it College of Charleston because he wants to play and contribute. So having an inside track to what both of them are thinking and feel I would say Antwaine made the better decision. As for Science Hill and DB, Great job of moving on last night!!! Hats off to ya!! Represent East Tennessee and Region One well Monday night.
  25. Skunk, I was on that exact baseline standing on the floor in the Greeneville student section. The play happened right in front of me and it may not have been two feet but it was not close to being out of bounds. Ottinger would have shut down Sylvester who scored the majority of DB's points. Throp and Sensabaugh were both overrated and Sylverster was who Greeneville was most worried about and for good reason. I do expect DB to win the game but all im saying is don't be surprised if you are upset, and yes it will be an upset because you are 27-3 and we play in the IMAC. Which I agree the Big 9 (by the way can we change the name to the Super 9 or the unbeatable 9 since you all are so arrogant about your teams.) is deeper than the IMAC but last week it was the Super 9 is gonna sweep or at least win three. What happened??? 2-2. Pretty even if you ask me. and Greeneville has been in 02 04 06. Cap 1, we all know your son plays for Tennessee High and by the way you only dream of him being where Wiggins is. Which is starting at a D1 school, College of Charleston. If that was a shot towards him concerning Wattad, don't you think Wiggins was smarter by going somewhere he can play instead of going to Georgetown and sitting on the end of the bench. And ill bet my house that Gash scores over 15 points tonight. Keep feeding the fuel those guys are reading your posts and all its doing is firing them up. Im not talking trash I just said don't be surprised if Greeneville wins the game. And Cap 1, where is Tennessee High??? AT THE HOUSE!!! courtesy of who??? "YOU GUESSED IT" Greeneville.
