  1. Ehh there is a Buzzer in the Dragon Den...not that you'll be able to hear it over the roar of an elated Orange Crush. ..ive got Clinton in the final few seconds..Assuming...key word there...that they play to their potential..and Oak Ridge doesnt give them due respect, as they've done in the past.
  2. Wow you actually took the words right out of my mouth there..QB. I think this game has the makings to be Really Good...or Really Bad...if Clinton loses focus, or Oak Ridge underestimates them.
  3. you played on the same team as he did
  4. Yes his brother is playing he is a pitcher only for the high school team
  5. Agreed Kidd. Here are some keys for Clinton if they hope to win tonight - They will need 3/5 starters to be hitting tonight. No more relying on one or two guys to pull them through in the last few minutes - Dye needs to find his shot again -Free Throws, Free Throws, Free Throws!!! -The Dragons are going to need to rely on strong D to pull them through, Look for Huddleston and The New Guy...I dunno how to spell his name, to get alot of time tonight. - Last but not least..the Dragons will have to contain Cameron Sharp. Thats how they won last game, pretty sure they held him to no points in the entire 4th qrt.
  6. Im pulling for Clinton, but its definatly going to be a good game. The Dragons will rely on Dixon and Ford, as they have been for some time now, and hope Dye can find his shot again. Its going to take atleast 3 of the 5 Clinton starters being hott if Clinton is going to pull out a win tonight. To clear up any confusion...Know Nothing you are indeed correct with your standings, very nice, which means..a win for Clinton tonight secure's them a #2 spot in Districts behind Oak Ridge, and a bid into Regionals. The same for Halls. ...Look how close, and tough this district is...and people have the nerve to say they play tougher ball out in middle tennessee..pshh.
  7. Bearden by 20...Smith or No Smith...Maybe its just me, but it seems as though he doesnt care anymore. Strictly an outsiders view on matters ofcoarse, but since UT seems to be in his near future...his basketball drive seems to have faded.
  8. Coaches have to "tear down a player" in order to rebuild them. To give them priority, and dedication to what they are doing. You strip them down to nothing, the bare essentials, and if what is left after hours of practice, conditioning, and scolding is that same burn and desire to play the game...then you have a player who knows respect, authority, and drive. To get a player to this point, yes alot of coachs have to make them feel like they arent nearly as good as they preceive themselves. Tellin little johnny he is just playing silly, and stinks at layups, in todays society anyway, isnt going to get an effective method across. Now, as for the guy who made the reference to not using those things in " the game of life"...i have this to say. No, your absolutly right. But hats what make sports great. In life sometimes you dont have those people there, guiding you, directing you, and teaching you how to preform your best. In the game of life you wing it, sure you pick up certain moral statutes here and there, but you are ultimatly left in charge of yourself. Thats the beauty of atheltics, you have that mentor, and you can put all your trust in him, to do whatever he feels will make you the best player you can be. With that comes great respect, and pride. So no... not many would take being called that in their day to day...but not many would have reeped the benefits, or had the respect for someone as influencial as a coach can be either. ( Now, if your talking about LIFE the board game...please...disreguard everything i said, and let me proceed to feeling embarrassed.)
  9. This is the deciding game to see who finishes 2nd in district, and will head to Regionals along side Oak Ridge. Clinton won the first meeting between these two, but the dragons are currently on a 0-2 run. Will Halls capitalize on the dragons inability to get a winning streak started...or will Clinton be fueled by their previous two district blows and be ready to show who is the more deserving team for that Regional bid.
  10. Buddy..your just wrong. Now again i point out, as soon as she was down longer than expected, as soon as she didnt pop right back up...everyone stopped the chanting...and clapped as she left. And thats how it is, and how its always been. Now stop blowing the class thing out of proportion and try to enjoy a big upset you guys had...and stop bickering.
  11. Is it possible that a broad range of schools are actually agreeing on something? Well i wont break the trend, Clintons student section has been catchin it all season. Football wasnt That bad...but Basketball has been horrible. Nuts and Bolts...nope..cut out right from the start. Cant yell S*ucks as the other teams players are being announced..and we've done that for years now. E-A-T O-N-E, Eat One Eat One Referee!! that usually lands us with a visit from our SRO threating to throw us out...and a new development...while playing tuesday..after chanting 3 Blind Mice we were told to get off the refs... Now i can understand good and well...restricting our ability to curse, and shoot for racial slurs and whatnot...but since when did highschool basketball become so politically charged that the main concern was placed on how the oppositions fans, and administration precieved ones school...and not supporting your own team?... UIntoldinformer says it best !!! Nuts and Bolts Nuts and Bolt... We're ..Getting...Screwed!!!
  12. Easy now....dont mistake passion for insensitivity. Now i know good and well the clinton student section can be ruthless at times. But i thought they've been taking it easy the past few games. As for cheering at the injury of a player...no...so someone got scuffed up, and took a minute to get back in the game. Its not like the kid had his spinal cord severed. And we knew that...and the second he stayed down for longer than expected a few noteable students made sure everyone calmed it down to make sure he was alright. ...Its a rivalry game man...and tensions run high all throughout that place...Dont judge the whole school on a night that they just got upset by a rival school...( Which seems to be becoming habit to Powell these days )... It was a good game...between two GOOD schools. My team didnt come out on top...but congratulations to Powell on a big win.
  13. I think this is a legit topic...especially going into playoff time. I say this Because team chem. is one of the more important elements out there. Agreed with lil hitler down there by saying that you have a team of avg. talent...playing against a team who has star focus...and the avgerage team will come out on top 9/10 times. I like looking at the season results of teams before and after Christmas Break... The scores alone can almost show just how well teammates are meshing with one another. And i think good chemistry going into the post season is a vital, must have. Without it...you may make it through the basic rounds...but once you get to the big show...you'll be out quick.
  14. Hey clinton fans...listen up... I wouldnt be writing Powell off so easily. Same goes for Halls, and West for that matter. Rememer what district we're in here guys. Not to mention that Lee Smith will be back tonight. Now i know on paper...this should be a fairly easy win for the Dragons...but has Powell ever given us an easy game? Not that i can remember. And most, for that matter...end with them coming out on top. If Dye, and Dixon are on tonight, Ford is rebounding like he has been and adding an extra 8-12 pts...Ta-Ta keeps a handle on Hargis...i think we'll come away with another big win tonight.
  15. Oh the student section wanted it. The fans wanted it. Coach Lockard wanted it... but the players...they showed who wanted it most, and played an amazing game tonight. They made Clinton proud. Oh and a final note....Clinton is STILL unbeaten in the Dragon Den.
  16. West Tennessee...yea, okay...they do tend to dominate, and their average teams could probably put on a clinic with some of middle and east tennessee teams. Thats a given. But having seen both Middle and East TN teams play, ..id pick East TN anyday. Middle Tennessee school have talent and sure, some are great. But they just dont preform like East TN schools do on average.
  17. A great game indeed. My only gripe is about the refs. Now i know, i know...dont whine about the refs, but the saga seems to continue for Clinton. I dont know what Coach Chris as done to anger every ref from here to Georgia, but man... that game was much closer than it should have been. In the same sense...credit to Karns. They certainly didnt hand it to Clinton. Some of the best 3 point shooting i've ever seen. It was just mistakes in their fundamentals that wound up hurting them. That and not being able to keep the D&D boys ( Dye and Dixon) contained. In the same sense, word was they were without their best player, and they still had two guys with over 20 pts also. All around a good game. And just for the sake of saying...I Totally agree about how Prep Xtra totally disregaurds Clinton in everyway possible. sometimes i think the Dragons could go undefeated and they'd still find a reason or way to place them below Halls and Bearden.
  18. I'll keep him in my prayers.... Keep us posted.
  19. Agreed 100% kidd. Clinton is playing hott ball right now, no doubt about it. eeing them run Bradley Central down to the wire like that, i would deem them pretty untouchable right now. That is as long as they dont become too comfortable and slack off just because of their last meeting with Karns. We all saw what happened with Anderson Co. and a repeat of such may not go in our favor this time. Karns is a fairly soild team. Clinton obviously has the tools to beat them, and beat them bad...i think its mental battle from here on out. As for Powell,... they seem to be on the opposite end of Clintons spectrum. They almost fell to Campbell Co. Last night, and havent been able to produce any form of offense latly. Oak Ridge....well...that will be another great game that will be decided merely by who wants it more. Might i just say one more time..the Dragons are still undefeated in the Dragon Den. ...lets hope that streak continues.
  20. What an incredible game. It was well worth the drive in my opinion, and might i just say hats off to everyone who was involved. 1 pt game ...thats the way two great teams should end. Again, Great Game...good luck to the Dragons going into their last strech of district games, after playing a grade A team like that... a seed in State doesnt seem too unlikely, and Bradley Central...i wish them the best in their future games.
  21. The Dragons head out to Bradley Central this Tuesday for a chance at redemption after their heart breaking last second loss in the pre-season. Any comments or opions on the outcome of this heavyweight bought set to take place?
  22. I sure do hope Clinton begins to gain some respect in the press. They deserve it. As ive said time and time again...they come through when it counts. I didnt get a chance to catch the telecast today, but i was at the game..and have certainly kept up with the papers, and why Clinton is so overlooked and under-ranked i do not know. D & D is an expression i hope to see and hear alot more going into tourney time. Go Dragons! P.S. Ive kept up with both Tennessee Mens Basketball and Clintons obviously. And i see many similarities to the way coach Pearl and Lockard approach things...Im impressed with both clubs.
