  1. i think we would all agree that the best refs are the refs that you hardly remember when you leave a game. i've watched refs try to take over games down the stretch. It's very annoying and shouldn't even be an issue.
  2. i hope everyone understands that the views of these kids aren't the views of the alumni. the alumni have much more class then to get on the message boards and demand respect for beating Mt. Juliet. Whoever said that players shouldn't be on Coacht is exactly right. If you don't know how to handle yourself and be unbiased then get out of here. p.s. if you're going to talk crap, please back it up and don't lose to bad teams.
  3. well this season, anything over one win is an improvement, so i would hope that sc would do better.
  4. Yeah it's pretty sad when you drive all that way only to lose to a bad team and have your vehicles vandalized.
  5. i'm sure that happen. i'm not making excuses for them or anything because i don't even know who played on that team, but I do know that it's hard to put a competitve basketball team on the floor when you have under 100 students 9-12.
  6. after watching their game against midway tonight (they lost 53-43) I take back what I said about them splitting with Lookout Valley. They will probably finish 4th at best.
  7. that would be the dumbest thing i've ever heard
  8. my freshman year (2001) sale creek went 20-11 and had a pretty good year. I would say we were easily one of the best teams in the last 10 years at sale creek.
  9. They will have a decent year. Not having a half court scorer will hurt them though. I have them going 12-14 this year.
  10. those are accurate predictions but Sale Creek could place 3rd. Lookout Valley lost 4 starters, Sale Creek returns the whole starting five. That could play a difference in that matchup between those two. in my season predictions i have LV and SC splitting their season matchups. Both win at home. Grace wins the region, not temple.
  11. sale creek is returning all starters from last year, which IMO gives them a very big edge on teams but at the same time, like Condra said, there's not anyone who jumps out as a major scoring threat. I'm not sure how that will go into effect because every good team has to have a "go-to guy". where are the district tournaments being held? i heard it would be at sale creek again.
  12. Actually Antonio is going to dominate 6a this year for the most part. It will be interesting to see how him and Powell matchup. As for him in the region, he is too tall and athletic for anyone in the region (besides Powell) to really matchup with him. McMasters has him beat with heighth, but I don't believe McMasters can keep up with him off the dribble. You can rip him all you want, but the fact of the matter is that if he plays to his potential he should get 25-15 every night. Then last year his younger brother began to emerge. I don't know if he's going to play post or wing -- hopefully wing. If he plays wing then the guards need to watch out because this guy is an athlete and will go for every board. I see SP challenging this year, how far they go depends on the perimeter players and how well they can stroke the three whenever Antonio is getting doubled.
  13. yeah you're right, I really thought you meant that all those guys were going to lace it up and compete for another state championship. maybe if i went to temple I would have a better knowledge of basketball and I could discredit someone's opnion that height matters by talking about how some guy took a charge on a 7'0 player. lol.......
  14. i hope you know that when grace and temple play, jeron williams, jake skogen, ryan wadley and isiah mouw aren't going to be walking on that court.
  15. CSAS will dominate their division but I have a hard time seeing them beating Grace.
  16. it doesn't matter how much experience Smith has in any tournaments, to think he would stop someone who is 9 inches taller than him is laughable. Unless McMasters is terrible with his back to the basket he will destroy Smith. All he has to do is drop step to the rim and if Smith bumps him the refs will call a foul and he will be on the bench. Then on defense McMasters will just front Smith and they won't be able to get the ball around his length -- not that they will be trying to get the ball to him anyway on offense anyways. arguement settled by someone who doesn't care anything about grace/temple.
  17. 1. CSAS 2. South Pittsburg 3. Lookout Valley 4. Sale Creek 5. Richard Hardy 6. Whitwell CSAS really should dominate this division. Powell will put up POY numbers for CSAS, being in a division where post players are weak. The only challenger he'll have will be Robinson (SP) who IMO will also dominate 6A. I don't believe LV has the talent or athleticism to compete with CSAS/SP but they will finish above all the other teams based on coaching. Sale Creek has the players to finish 4th considering all their starters have a lot of experience. Richard Hardy should continue to establish respect in the district by giving some teams tough games, but when it comes down to it I don't think Robinson is going to have enough help on the perimeter to upset any teams. Whitwell lost a lot of seniors last year, I expect them to be in a rebuilding period.
  18. I'm guessing it's an upset because Sale Creek had never lost to Hardy.
  19. First loss to Richard Hardy in Sale Creek history. lol...
  20. - I wish! If they play in the play-in game I'm guessing that they'll play City. Richard Hardy beat City @ City so I assume they should beat City at home. Sorry to hear that Whitwell lost to CCS. I'd be happy to see CCS not win the district this year (I believe everyone else feels the same). Hopefully Whitwell will piece it together and have a good bounce back game against SP. I don't even know if we have a JV anymore. Since the start of the season 6 players have been dismissed from the team, so I'm not even sure what the roster size is at the moment. I'm not sure who's on JV, but I do know that Hodge (low post player) is an eigth grader and can really jump/shoot. He should become a very good player in the next few years if nothing gets in his way. I think that might be it. LOL - I agree 100% It's disappointing that our last season we get screwed over. This coach will probably be around for a few years since he was just hired. After he drives the program into the ground some more he'll probably quit. Trust me though, Parker and I have wished many times over we'd played for another school. Maybe we should of been Tigers? Thanks for the support guys. Hope you get things back on track and trounce SP.
  21. I'm not sure how you can look at any part of my post and say that I want to "play coach". I didn't say that things should be done this way, that way, or anyway for that matter. I've played basketball for 6 years now and I could tell that this way of doing things absoultely stunk. However I did not in anyway say or recommend that it be done any differently. And I also didn't put down my teammates, I'm just stating true statistics and being honest. If I was wrong about the score of 1st quarter of the Van Buren game then my bad, obviously as I stated above, I wasn't there so I only know what I was told. - I in no way had a "bad attitude". There was NO instances in which I was benched for behavior and coach/or players and I didn't get into any verbal confrintations. I did what was asked to me on the court, passed the ball, scored, played defense, rebounded hard, and tried my best every night. If he doesn't want that on his team then so be it. I'm obviously upset that I'm not playing anymore or I wouldn't feel so strongly about what happen, thus dismissing what you said about me not loving the game. "Coaches are hired to do a job and it is not the place of players to question that." - Dude I'm not in middle school anymore. I'm 18, I can question anything and everything that I want. Thx though redandwhite - It's all jealously more than anything. That's is why the program is in such bad shape. There isn't unity. There were 8 united seniors who planned to play and 4 chose not to play before the season began and the other 4 were dismissed from the team, which I didn't tell what happen to the other two. But back to jealousy, people were jealous because they rode the pine, and people were jealous because they didn't score the amount they wanted.
  22. Just so you know, I'm Harris - When I describe what happened I'll use I. To start off, I still believe that Lookout Valley will probably end up winning the district even though they lost to SP last night. They have a good overall team and last night they lost by one and Hawkins had 6 (if he had scored what he averaged they would of won by at least 5-8). The rest is pretty crazy. I figured out a few years ago that you can't go on who beats who or how many points a team beats another by. Each night the game is won by whoever shows up and wants to play the hardest. As far as Sale Creek goes, I'll have to be honest and say that right now the Boys program is a complete joke. We host the district and the region this year and most likely, the boys will be in the play-in game to make the district in their own gym (quite embarassing). Then if the stars aligned and they won in the play-in game they would face the highest seeded team and get trounced, therefore they wouldn't play in the Region Tourney (again in their own gym). Basically, hiring the Coach they have now was a enormous mistake. Coach Varner did a MUCH better job working with the talent in which he given. We had two bad seasons, Coach Varner resigned, so for months at Sale Creek we were without a coach. Most of the boys team was excitied and anticipated a good hiring since we figured that the choices we're being examined and time was being taken to chose who would be the best possible coach to "get this program turned back around". So in order to have a successful high school program again, they hire someone with the middle school record of 6-45 (and I might be generous with the 6). Nice selection, dedicate the school back to winning by hiring someone who wins around %14 of the games that they coach. What happen to Zac and I was extremely laughable. It started during Christmas break. We lost to Marion, Huntland and Van Buren in the Christmas Tournament that we were in. I missed the Van Buren game so for punishment I had to sit out the next game (Lookout Valley). During the Van Buren game, at the end of the first quarter the score was, Van Buren 12 - Zac 11. I guess we were too close to their score or something, so "coach" told Zac he was doing "too much" and took him out the whole second quarter (LOL). They went into the half down by double digits and ended up getting drilled. In the practices afterwards "the coach" pulled Zac and me aside and told us that we had the "worst practice ethic" on the team and that the team was thisclose to winning without us (keep in mind they have a 4-6 record with us). Next game we lost to Lookout Valley horribly. We scored 9 points in the first half. Nine measly points . So the day after we had one of those good ole "battle for your starting job" practices. After that practice Coulter bragged on Zac and me saying, "we hustled, showed leadership, and finally did what he was looking for". Two nights later we play Whitwell and I don't start? (LOL) The score is 13 to 0 whenever I guess out of the kindness of his heart he allowed me to go into the game and score our first points. I had 6 points, 2 steals, and 4-5 rebounds and I played for 6-8 mins (probably not even a full quarter). I got a tech for making a "facial expression" (no joke, <-- isn't allowed in basketball.) So I sat the rest of the game for that. Then at some point in the second quarter Parker was pulled for "taking bad shots" and sat the rest of the game also. Honestly, who wants their leading scorer and someone who already recorded a 39 point game this year shooting the basketball? He should obviously pass the ball to someone who has a history of scoring 2-4 points a game................................ thumb On Monday we went to school, I had already intended on quitting due to "coach" being absoultely terrible. I was on my way to lunch and Parker come up to me and told me he had just been kicked off the team for "having a bad attitude and not being a good leader" although whenever he was pulled at out the Whitwell game he said NOTHING smart back to "coach". I was shocked because I knew nothing had happen for him to get dismissed. Then 5 minutes later someone is sent to get me (yes our "coach" isn't man enough to come get us himself he sends messengers). I walk into the principals office, he tells me I haven't "been the same since Novemeber, I haven't been a good leader, and I told people on the team that this was crap", then he tells me to turn my uniform in the next day. Then he held a meeting with the basketball team and told them that he KICKED us off the team, that we did not quit (please have little man syndrome more). Then said that his only regret is that he didn't dismiss us sooner (ROFL ). So that night they go and play 21st Century and lose to a team by 6 that previously they had beaten by 15 (but they play better team ball so lay off them, they did a good job! ) It's just sad. Parker and I combined for 44 against 21st Century in a winning effort. Then without us the TEAM scores 36 points against them... LOL? So "coach" made his bed and now he's going to have to lie in it. People on the team talk about how they play "team ball" now and it's much better, however they lose to teams that are basically playing small childeren. It's hilarious whenever Coaches and others lower their standards and excepts/gratifies failure as long as it doesn't make them look like a complete fool. So now they're on pace to lose every game the rest of the year (some guys are talking about beating Grace this weekend) and most likely they won't even make the district tournament. I know that was a lot to read but it should provide some humor if you read it all and actually put yourself in the situation. Good luck on the rest of the season Conda, Grayson, Holloway.
