  1. I thought that quote was, " (in a heavy Russian accent) I will break you!" and then Rocky says, "Yo Adrian!"
  2. It was a very good match. Too bad Eagleville came up on the short end, but we'll have to settle that in the district tourney and possibly in the region tourney too. There's still a lot of volleyball left to be played! I'm proud of the Lady Eagles!!!!!!!!
  3. Checked out the www.smithcountyfootball.com website. Looks good, but the game is @ Smith County not Macon. Right?
  4. I hope both teams bring their "A" game and leave it all on the field. Macon and Smith Counties are great areas with great folks. I'm hoping the Tigers can pull the trifecta, Trousdale Co., Westmoreland and Smith County. That would make a great season. Macon Co. - 21 Smith Co. - 17
  5. He was cut yesterday.??? I heard an interesting interview with Mr. Reese, in which he said that sometimes teams trade players that don't pan out for their respective team that drafted them, only to have each team then cut those players. That way, the GM doesn't look so bad when "their" draft pick was cut. I guess that makes sense, but I wouldn't have told that in an interview. Appearently he's saying that he doesn't do it that way, but others do. Floyd Reese is starting to get a lot of heat for this team and he deserves it.
  6. I know it will be a challenge. But, that's what we need going into the district tournament. Playing against a great player will also personally challenge some of our girls too. Because at some point we will see that type of talent in the tournaments. If LaVergne beats Eagleville, everybody expects it. But if Eagleville beats LaVergne? Wow, what a great win for our program.
  7. Lavergne seems to be playing some great VB right now. We (Eagleville) get them in a couple of weeks, so of all the AAA teams we have played this season, it will probably be the toughest. you can bet we're bringing our lunch for a fight.
  8. Any news on where Calico is going to end up at? Is he finished in the NFL?
  9. It's a loooooooooong way up there. I like their teams and the competition they bring, but geographically, it is not a good match. We have them in our other district sports as well, so be thankful your not driving up for a basketball game with a threat of snow in the forecast. I didn't see any hotels in Spencer. BTW, did your stay at Holiday Inn Express over the weekend pay any dividends? Were you suddenly able to classify plants in to sub-classes or do calculations for space and time travel? Also I apologize for me and my wife trying to get into your room the other night at the Holiday Inn Express. I thought that was our room.
  10. How many times could Miami give that game to Pittsburgh? Culpepper was stinking it up with his passes in the 4th quarter. Other than turnovers, I really didn't think the Steelers defense looked that good. Palumao saved his team's butt. Anyway, I'm glad the season has started. NBC did a good job with the game. ABC has choked by moving MNF to ESPN.
  11. Eagleville's night was a tough one. Game one with Karns was a mystery match, since we had not seen them yet. A very good team! Karns blew us out in game #1, their serves were very strong. #20 and #11 are exceptional players. They have four players that are 6' or taller and some more that are very near 6'. In match two, we finally figured out how to break those serves and fought back to win. Our girls showed a lot of heart to take down this giant. Match three saw Eagleville and Karns going back and forth. Karns fought back to force us to win by two. It was a exciting match and Some how our girls pulled out a huge win. BGA caught us on empty. They are a very good team! #7, their OH is a fantastic player. She put down some of the hardest and was the most consistent of kills that I have seen all season. We were able to hang with them for a while in the second game, but they had some excellent sets and were just too strong for us tonight, Match three was against Columbia Central. Our girls finally put together their best match of the night and were able to out battle Columbia Central 2 - 0. I look forward to the tournament tomorrow. Right now BGA and Karnes are some powerful forces to be reckoned with. Good Luck to all. And GO Lady Eagles!!!!!!!
  12. CU, it was very nice to meet you and Pageman as well. Pageman the song sounds like a classic, as much as the match was tonight. I know since Eagleville came up on the winning end, it's easy to say that, but I really thought both teams played hard. It was a great atmosphere, great play and great company. I got very lucky with the prediction, those last two could have went either way. I did get to see the famous outhouse of Rudderville. I was going to stop but I saw Phargis' ride parked outside, so I guess it was occupied. #4 for Page is awesome. She will be something for years to come. Also, the rest of the team made many good plays. I'm very proud of The Eagleville Lady Eagles. There was a lot of hustle and they never gave up. They just would not go away, even though they had a tiger by the tail. A very enjoyable evening, let's do it again Friday night.
  13. I like that theme, Pageman. Later tonight, we'll know how the rest of the song goes? I'll see you there.
  14. Well @ 5 PM on Thursday we get to see who gets the early bragging rights in Region 6, District 11 A/AA. I haven't seen Page play yet, but I know they will be ready to defend home court. I hope Eagleville can play with as few mistakes as possible. I think that will be the key for them to win. Pageman, I will see you there. What's your prediction? I'm taking Eagleville (of course) 3-1.
  15. No doubt errors are by far the worst enemy of most teams, if not all. Of course, being able to win in a sloppy game is important, because let's face it, there are plenty of sloppy games. The teams that are going to go far in the playoffs are those who learn to minimize their errors. Hopefully the Lady Eagles can keep improving. I'm glad to see the coach swap the girls out when they are no focused.
  16. Tigers 24 Firebirds 21 Hope Hines stops by in his helicopter and catches some highlights.
  17. I was surprised when I saw the score. I guess that explains it some. I hate being a line judge. I'm afraid I will choke and mess up my hand signals. The official should meet with them before the match and be sure they know what they are doing.
  18. Ouch!!! Good luck Tigers!!!!!!! (Muffy, is the punctuation O.K.?) ((and I'm a MC graduate???))
  19. You know, I'm not really sure. Their success pre-dates my time with the school. I know that they have been competitive for over a decade. I think dedicated coaches that make the game fun are key. Also, @ Eagleville, kids are really encouraged to participate in all sports. I think the positive atmosphere is a great thing for today's young people. Also, for the size of the community, there is very good fan participation for most sports. Volleyball still needs more participation from fans, but almost any school can say that. There have been a few girls to play club ball, but it's not very heavy. Coach Deanna (Lamb) Friese played @ Eagleville on one of the teams to play in the state tournament. She then played on scholarship @ Cumberland and has been involved with Eagleville volleyball ever since. She first coached middle school and is now the high school coach. Of course, the coaches before her laid a good foundation for a program. Coach De continues to develop the skills and teamwork to make the team a success.
  20. Let's go Mighty Tigers!!! Play like champs and take care of business Friday night. I'm sure it's going to be a great game; three in row.
  21. I'm eager to see how the Riverdale/Eagleville in-school match turns out. Being an in-school match should give Eagleville a good home court advantage. Last year we had a hard time with Riverdale. Eagleville lost some good players (two scholarships to Cumberland), so both sides of the court has some new blood needing to be battle tested.
  22. Great job Eagles! Way to represent!!!!!!!!!
  23. I have a hard time believing that they are going to be in that bad of shape.? They just played in the state championship and I'm sure their coach still knows a few things. Nobody can stay on top every year anyway. But I think it's too early to count out Jackson County yet. let them tip it off a few games first.
  24. Will the owls fans come out of the woodwork????? No, they are too busy trashing the other fans threads!!!!!
