  1. Lots of multiple time winners from Baylor missing from this list, Jason Finell from McCallie, Jordan Brothers from Overton. Ect. Could make an argument for lots of guys.
  2. Lots of very good wrestling over the weekend. Baylor proved that they were the most complete team in the tournament with a pretty dominant win over very good competition. The Kiski team from PA were a tough bunch as well. While JAson Luster was the big draw for the tournament, I have to say I was more impressed with 140 (I think Henderson?). The toughest weight class in the tournament, and he made it look easy with a pin in the finals against a very good Baylor wrestler Doster. Luster was as powerful and quick as everyone said he was. But, I have to say that TJ Duncan from McCallie gave he a very good finals match. TJ hung in, and even had a brief momment where he had Luster on his back. I think that if TJ would have opened up a little earlier, could have been an even better result, but good job anyway-I was very impressed. We got to see the first high school loss from Watson @ 119. Watson is comming off an injury, but loked to be in control of the match. Mental mistakes were the problem. 3 straight cautions (resulting in 1 point), points given up @ the end of the period. We usually do not see this from Baylor wrestlers. It was bound to happen @ some time. Pressures off for the undefeated career. Just some of the highlights from the tournament. Good luck to all wrestlers for the remainder of the season.
  3. I think TJ Duncan-McCallie has a decent shot @ making it a match. I think it would be a good match between two very explosive wrestlers. Didn't Luster grow up in Georgia? probably wrestled kid club with some of these GA guys.
  4. Doesn't Jason Luster wrestle for Kiski? If so it will be fun to watch him @ 152.
  5. Should be a good tournament this weekend. What schools are attending and who should be the favorite? I know Baylor/McCallie are both going. Anyone else?
  6. I completely agree with Waylon Lowe, mean guy. He is also doing MMA. He was on last years Ultimate Fighter season, got beat in the fight to see who goes into the house.
  7. What about Quinton "Rampage" Jackson-Raleigh Egypt- Now with the UFC. This guy wore the big junk yard dogg chain in high school and did the big howl when he entered a gym. No one wanted to mess with him. Never knew if he was going to wrestle you or powerbomb you.
  8. Matt Keller- Bradley Kevin Ward- SD Kevin Jones- RB
  9. Is Josh back @ Father Ryan coaching? He did a great job for Baylor Lower school a couple years ago. Intense coach who puts a lot into working with the kids. Good job Josh. AEKDB. Provo
  10. Baylor- Schaack Van Deusen-was named nation's top assistant wrestling coach in 2001 by USA Wrestling magazine. Will be be inducted into the Tennessee Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Van Deusen is in his 31st year as assistant wrestling coach for the Red Raiders and has helped guide the matmen to 11 traditional state championships and five dual titles. As a student, he earned three varsity letters in wrestling (1959-60-61) under legendary coach Luke Worsham and was City Prep champion his junior and senior years.
  11. I can only remember the one Bradley kid going to Baylor, don't know of any kids that went to Red Bank and then transfered to Baylor. Beside the point, Everyone should just get over themselves and make this match happen. As said before, would be a great event for Tennessee wrestling.
  12. Is this a real move? someone clear this up- does it work- I gotta see it if it does.
  13. "Because Phillip Simpson or Jordan Leen was in my weight class." I've heard this one from a couple of people.
  14. I believe Notre Dame is currently a member of DI. Don't know what you are trying to ask with this question?
  15. Hooker @ 112 looked very impressive against a very strong Baylor wrestler. I had not been able to see him wrestle, but he looks very fluid and tough from all positions on the mat. How old is he? Is he a local kid or a bording student? I had just never heard of him until this year. He has a bright future for McCallie. I hope the Baylor coaches can come up with some sort of gameplan to slow him down. Has he had any heads up matches or common opponents with Bauke from CBHS?
  16. Match only lasted about 58 min, we should get a refund check for the admission that we all had to pay.
  17. Well allsaints. I agree with you first statement, wrestling is not all about winning, it is about finding out who YOU are as an individual on the mat. But the second statement about the EBE is wrong. I can't tell you how many times I have seen McCallie forfiet a match to a superior wrestler because the "Great coaching staff" did not feel they had a chance to win. That is unfair to the wrestler to not be able to have the experience of stepping out on the mat as State, Baylor/McCallie, or any other big match that would be the highlight of a young mans career.
  18. Right now their are so many teams that are not full strength yet, very hard to tell.
  19. Seems to be working well for the Raiders. Trust me, that is not taught in the wrestling room
  20. Another fine young talent from the Chattanooga area for the MOCS
  21. Baylor 2000-2001 5 Champs 7 finalists 14 medalists- 1st time an entire team has placed at a state tournament 1 High School All American, and NCAA medalist 29-0 dual meet record ranked 49th in USA wrestling
  22. I don't know, I thought the call was a good one, but it was a very close call. Anyway, you should be proud of your brother and his accomplishments over the years. Being a Baylor fan, every time one of our kids had to wrestle Goss, I knew it was going to be tough. He showed maturity and class on the mat after his loss, he left the way a true champion would leave after a loss.
