  1. If Oak Hill has everyone healthy, i feel they are the best team. Oden is the only player they don't have an answer for. Lawson can handle Conley. Oak Hill has Michael Beasly, Nolan Smith, who i feel is severly underrated. I watched Oak Hill defeat Canton McKinley who won last year's And 1 summer National Championship without the services of Twyon Lawson. Lawrence North is good, but i feel Oak Hill would win in a head to head matchup. As for Brentwood, they are very good, but i don't feel they are in the same class as Lawrence North, Oak Hill or for that matter Montrose Christian and St. Patrick.
  2. I do agree that Mitchell is not well coached, cause if they were, it would be scary.
  3. Just curious to your reasoning on why Central Florida signed the so called bump on a log. How do you expect Liberty to get rebounds??
  4. I've seen Mitchell and Liberty both play, and Mitchell will have to play their worst game ever and Liberty their best ever for this to happen. The matchup problems Bolivar gives Liberty are no where near the problems Mitchell will give them should they play. Do you think Mitchell isn't any better since the first of the year either?? Mitchell's roster is posted on their team site, go have a look and tell me who is gonna gaurd Thorton, Young, Powell and how they are gonna do it. Mitchell is too big, too talented for Liberty. Not to knock Liberty because i have a lot of respect for them, they are a very good team, but we're talking about a team with three division one signees, one of which is the third best player in the NATION.
  5. Who says that Irvin won't play again? he is only out through the first round of the state tournament. If Liberty can take care of McNairy on tuesday they will play Bolivar thursday, which is a game only to decide who will host and who will go on the road for substate. Wait a minute, nevermind on the last few sentences, if Liberty gets beat by Bolivar and wins their substate game, they will in all likelyhood play Mitchell in the first round of the state tournament at 7:00 wedensday night. Sorry Irvin, looks like your poor judgement and emotion got the best of your high school basketball carreer.
  6. Much Respect for Raleigh Egypt. THe last two years in AA their season was ended by the Bolivar Tigers, who won it all both years. Both times these two teams met in the boro, Raleigh Egypt out played Bolivar both times. Two years ago Raleigh Egypt led most of the way, if it wasn't for Brian Lake's will to refuse to let Bolivar lose, i think we wouldn't be talking about Raleigh Egypt not having a state title in this recent run. Last year Bolivar got a crucial steal in the last couple of minutes to go down and hit a shot to give them the lead. Bolivar while good, has had a bit of luck on their side both times these two teams have met. Let's just hope that Raleigh Egypt can stay oppsite Hamilton in substate. If these two can win from that point on, because of the predertermined brackets, this would make for one heck of a AAA championship game.
  7. Dyersburg vs. University School of Jackson 3:00 Fayette Ware vs. Westview Crockett vs. Covington Haywood vs. Obion Co. all Saturday at Ripley
  8. Just curious, have you seen Middleton play this year? Are you aware of the fact that they have most of the players they had from last year's state championship squad??
  9. Guys i know that the officating was bad. Just don't get on them too hard because i am in the northwest part of the state and the association that is here has much worse officals than the jackson association that is used by the jackson area. I know you don't believe it but the guys you all see are much more consistent than the ones in this part of the state.
  10. Not that i disagree with you because i have been saying the same thing. I just want to know who your pick is to win it all and who do you think has the best shot to knock bolivar off??? I feel it's Mitchell because they are not only highly talented, they have quite a bit of depth as well, something bolivar lacks.
  11. I've seen Bolivar play five times this year. Against Arlington Country Day, Hamilton, Mitchell, Brentwood Academy as well as last night against Liberty. Last night was the best they have played all year with the exception of the second half against Arlington Country Day. Wayne Chism and Willie Kemp have almost always scored in double figures. I didn't feel that they were good enough to finish the 3-peat which has never been done in AA because of the lack of help from their other players. Last night was a Tiger team that hasn't been at any of the games i have seen all year. The difference was the play of Kedrick Madden, Jerry Griffin and Jermey Rhodes. If Bolivar can get that kind of production from their role players and not look for their two stars to win the game alone, the will be a tough game for anyone. As far as officating goes, last night was just horrible, it was bad both ways. I am not a fan of either program, i was totally neutral. I actually felt that last night was going to be the best chance Liberty had to knock off Bolivar. Congrats to all four 11 AA teams and good luck in the region tournament. Show everyone why all six Gold and Silver Balls came to this side of the Tennessee River last year.
  12. You must be forgetting that Humboldt has a physical inside game as well. Ask Lake County about that. I believe that Kelsey Rose who goes 6'4 230 and was a man amoung boys the other night against Lake County.
  13. I would have thought that Trenton would have made it over Halls. One reason they didn't make it is the absence of an inside presence that they had last year in 6'8 Doaks.
  14. One reason Weddle shoots so much is that he is their shooting gaurd and their style of play is positioned around his ability to knock down outside shots. Willie is a point gaurd who is a pass first gaurd. He doesn't look to score as much. Bolivar also has Wayne Chism inside who I feel should touch the ball more than he does, but that is beside the point. Kemp is pass first and Weddle is a shoot first player.
  15. I feel it could be quite possible that not all three but all six balls could be comming back west of the tennessee river this year. A- Union City, Middleton, Middle College, Humboldt-who was there last year in AA with the bulk of that squad back. AA- Haywood, Bolivar, Mitchell, GW Carver, Liberty who has some incentive playing in memory of the two Long brothers who lost their father to a stroke a couple of weeks ago. AAA- Hamilton, Ridgeway, Raleigh Egypt, last years AA runner up lead by junior point gaurd who is being heavily recruited by coach Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech. Not to say that this is a lock because Sigel had a good team last year and made a good run but they lack the depth that these three AAA teams have.
  16. I have seen the top three AAA teams out of Memphis this year. Ridgeway is missing Pierre Niles from last year who departed for prep school in Florida. I feel they miss last years point guard Jordan Mincy and swingman Micheal Rice more than Niles. Still they are a very good team this year as well. Hamilton has the big two inside that have tournament expirence throughout high school incuding a trip to the state tournament from their freshman year. Raleigh Egypt is in their first year of AAA. Last year and the year before they lost 2 close games to eventual state champion Bolivar Central. Either of these three teams will make a run at bringing the golden ball back to Memphis. All three of these teams have the luxury of bringing more than one or two 6'5 or better men off the bench if in foul trouble. Hamilton is the best and it is a very close second between Raleigh Egypt and Ridgeway. Of the two who emege from the highly competitive 8AAA reigon in Memphis, they would probably be the favorites to win it all.
  17. Weddle is a sliky smooth shooter who has much inproved his ball handling skills since his freshman year. He has surpassed the 2,000 point mark. Union City is a small team that uses their quickness and outside shooting ability to beat teams. They are also well coached. Look for them to make some noise throughout the postseason.
