  1. It is a coaches choice and most do not complain about it. If they di then they do not need to be coaching. You are correct you do not have to agree with how a team is run, but on the other side of that you do not need to push your views on the players and other people. What if coaches came to your job and pointed out everything that you do that they do not agree with. Would you like that or would you take it in stride and have your family sit there and listen to the coaches talk about you and the sorry job you are doing. Coaching is one of the most criticized careers in the world because everyone knows how to do it better. If every seat in the stadium had a headst and you had 25 seconds to take information and process it, call a play and get the play off could you do it? Think about htat before you criticize the coaches. Also if your kids are coming home after practice everyday nad complaining and you are listening to them and agreeing with them then what will you do 10 years from now when they have a job and come home complaining that the boss doesn't know what they are doing are you going to tell them that is life or tell them that they should just ignore the boss.
  2. Diva I am not sure I understand what you are saying? You are right looking good is only a small part of the equation. What do you mean by something being done starting at the top? What do you mean by it being hard on the fams? They are not the ones who are out there working their tails off each day, and they are the ones up there questioning everything that the coaches do or say. When this happens the kids hear it and lose faith in the coaches and then the coaches lose the confidence of the players. The coaches work hard and deserve the respect of not having everything they do second guessed by people that are never around until game time. Most of the coaches spend more time with some of the players than there own parents do. I am just wandering what you are trying to say about the canges needing to be made starting at the top? Believe me the coaches have to deal with junk you would never even think about.
  3. Chester just to show how stupid you are the game has already been played. Yes Catholic is good, but I do not agree that Sequoyah is gross. They are young and will be good. Just stay in your cornshed and quit commenting on pepole you don't even know.
  4. I agree with you to some extent, but if you put a player in subpar equipment you are opening youself up for a lawsuit. in these times people are just looking for a reason to sue you. it sounds like you probably got your brain scrambled a little with that subpar equipment if you feel that equipment does not matter. i understand that heart is a big part of the game but being safe is a little more important than you are realizing.
  5. The only thng I would question about hte running up the score was going with no huddle right before the half and Harrison Smith scoring the touchdown that made hthe 44th point. Catholic has an excellent team and was just a better team than Sequoyah. One thng I can say about Sequoyah is that they never quit. When you are down like that many teams will jst quit and it get worse even with the subs in. Sequoyah continued to fight and claw to keep it from getting worse than it was and the coaches and fans should be proud of that. I think Sequoyah has some good things to look forward to. By the way what kind of things did Coach Pemberton say about Sequoyah?
  6. Sweetwater won and congratualtions to them but they did not pull the starters in the second quarter. Quit trying to make your team something it is not. I just don't undertstand why people can't be happy with a win and not get on here and make up lies like that. They did sub some about middle of the 4th quarter.
  7. I will agree with that comment also. One problem with the public schools that have open zones is their is little or no school pride. If you don't like something someone says or does you just jump ship and leave. If you don't live in a community then you could probably care less about how the school is functioning.
  8. Bottom line is all privates should play in their own league then you can't complain about the multiplier and everyone else can't complain about the recruiting business.
  9. No one said they provided financial aid but since you brought it up I am sorry but I find it hard to believe that every kid their pays that big tutition each year. The money I was talking about was not to be degrading but I am talking about the resources your school is fortunate enough to have. Lets face it money talks in more ways than one. All I was saying was is that you are fortunate to be able to pay your coaches well enough to get some real good ones, to be able to afford the best stuff for your kids and so forth. Sorry you misundersood my comment. Just of curiosity how many of this years team has been there since grade school? I know Smith has from what I have heard, but what about the rest?
  10. Do you think they really want to play you either? Fact of the matter is last year you were up by 48 and still trying to score the last play of the game. That is the reason no one wants to play you. You are a great team and deserve to be where you are but the running the score up deal is crap. Let's face it money talks and you scream. Go back to Division II where you belong. I am sure that Sequoyah willnot just lay over and die. I am not sure if they can match up but they will not just lay down and let you do what you want. Anyway if you don't want to have trouble finding games quit runnin two things, your mouth and the score up on lesser teams who can't afford the players you guys can.
  11. Red nation you are exactlly right. Varsity Score Sequoyah 20 Livingston Academy 16 JV SCore Livingston Academy - 6 Sequoyah - 0 Does it really matter though. Both teams got some good work and found areas to improve upon. One thing that probably played a little factor in the game was that Sequoyah had just finished 2 a day practices on Thursday. The were tired, but on the flip side of that Livingston did not hvae the opportunity to have 2 a day practices so they had a little less time to get ready to scrimmage. Either way you look at it I thinkk both teams have the possibility of being good and need to keep working their tails off and learn from the scrimmage. By the way Sequoyah has had two more scrimmages since then and won both convincingly. Could be a good sign if they keep working hard. Sounds like Livingston has been improving also. Hope your QB situation works out for you.
  12. What do you two want to see? Sequoyah drove down the field on every possesion but one and scored. Livingston is the defending 3A state champions and tied 5A Cookville in a scimmage. Boy some of you are real hard to please. Granted there are things to correct, but I thought they looked pretty darn good Friday night. Over 250 yard of offense on 5 possessions. Defense is still learning and will get better. Just wait and see. Maybe you are just a little jelous you are not a part of what is happening at Sequoyah.
  13. My point exactly. Excellent post. I was just being to nice in my previous post. Well done and well said.
  14. Patriot I respect your view, but I have also seen many kids burned by AAU and traveling teams. One thing that bothers me about that is the cost involved. If a kid does not have the money to play traveling ball you make it sound like they don't have a chance at a scholarship. If kid is good enough then they will get the scholarship they deserve. If the coach does his job good things will happen for the kids. Is playing 100 baseball games a year good for a high school player. I don't think so, especially a pitcher. I have coachesd at the college level and we never took the word of an AAU or traveling coach. We went to the high school coaches. The main point I am trying to make is that if all schools would get the kids more physically ready by getting stronger and faster then their chances would increase anyway without playing them to death all summer. All sport should lift and condition. How many college athletes do you know that don't lift? I think all football coaches would be happy with that. I know I would. The problem is that everyone should be doing that and not practicing or playing all of the team.
  15. I agree with your post for the most part but I do not agree that a player could miss the first week of football for the schoolto play on a traveling baseball or basketball team that is not part of the school. I still say the problem lies within the sports that are not school sponsored. Get rid of that and most of these problems would nto be happening.
  16. Okay, I can understand what you are saying, but when the football program isn't winning because the kids are not getting stronger then leave the coaches alone when they aren't winning. Football is the next school sport played so the time should be put into preparing for that. The problem is that the other sports such as basketball and baseball want all the time to themselves and can offer the kids the opportunity to play "games" in the summer so kids will do that. Wouldn't you rather play than lift weights or practice. But on the other side of the coin is when Friday nights come around and the team loses because they are not as prepared as the other team then it is the coaches fault. In my humble opinion if you would do away with all practices and games in the summer and let all of the athletes just get stronger and condition then all sports would benefit from this. This would only be good for every sport so it probably doesn't make since to the people who want to just play and not practice to be better. Lets face it all the other sports are the ones that are out of hand, not football. Football is only 3 months away, basketball at least 6 months and baseball 9 or 10 months so who is really forcing the kids to make choices and being selfish. Keep AAU and summer baseball leagues out of it and things would be better for everyone. If kids want to play basketball or baseball year round then maybe that is what they should do. What ever happened to the day when you had to work for something?
  17. Wartburg looked pretty good. Sequoyah actually dominated with their offense. They turned the ball over a couple of times and were driving when the lightning hit. Both teams looked pretty good. Sequoyah is very improved from last year. Wartburg I think is going to be pretty good also. In all it was a good scrimmage for all involved.
  18. Sequoyah High School has a defensive line assistant opening. Teaching positions are Science and others to be determined. Contact Coach Holloway (423)404-5352.
  19. Which of these are JV and which are varsity games. Also where in Georgia did Reeves go? That was fast.
  20. We are in Madisonville. I would say between 2 to 3 hours from Nashville. Not real sure though.
  21. So far there has been several teams show interest. Get involved now. Flyers will be mailed to some school Monday. So far we have interest from: Meigs COunty Trousdale County Polk County Livingston Academy Get on board now. Call Coach Holloway (423)404-5352.
  22. Maybe we should let them start practice before we start predicting scores. Sequoyah and Wartburg both will be better teams this year. They are both working hard and are eager to get after it. Should be a good learning experience for the both of them. Besides it is just a scrimmage. It is not about winning and losing. It is about getting better. Sequoyah will be returning several starters. Don't know exactly how many, but I believe that they will have 9 starters back on defense and 6 on offense. They did lose the 1000 yard rusher at QB. Should be interesting to see who replaces him.
