  1. It is a good thing for 10A Goodpasture went to the East! But no matter they will DOMINATE single A. They won the AA state in 2012, 2008 & 2007. But don't feel as sorry for baseball as softball - they won 4 of last 7 softball state championships & runner-up 2x. Terrible news for all sports in A. That having been said, Rhoten is good but he does not hit one out in straight away center @ McEwen! And before you get crazy I have seen him play multiple times. No one goes deep straight away @ McEwen except Josh Hamilton lol. That is a ridiculous deep center! He would go deep everywhere else in 10A though!
  2. Have seen every team in 10A play this year already and saw every team play last year. 10A is way down this year compared to years past! Just as in football all of these teams will be competitive within the district but once 10A goes outside of district play they will be in trouble. I think the edge has to go WHH for this year. I believe they are the best team in the district this year but would be shocked if anyone goes unscathed in District play. Overall the district will be competitive just down once it comes to the other districts IMHO
  3. Heard he was already a Goodpasture kid
  4. Dickson County High senior Trevor Daniel is listed as the top ranked punter on the ProKicker.com rankings for 2012. His average distance last season was 46.70 yards.
  5. I believe Wayne County wins this big after having watched both teams. I believe they are too strong and physical for Columbia Academy! On another note, I will say that having seen Columbia Academy play a couple of times, it reminds and amazes me that schools with Christian missions seem to be the worst about sportsmanship. Columbia Academy's players use language on a regular basis that would make a sailor blush and that I don't here on college football fields! I saw them for the 2nd time last week against McEwen and not only were they cussing on the field terribly (I was on their sideline), their bench was just as bad. Their coach even put his hands on a McEwen player! I thought it a bit classless that once the game was out of hand in the 4th qtr, McEwen appeared to put kids in that were definitely 2nd team and Columbia Academy left there 1st team in to score at least 2 more times to run it up big. Just a side note. Wayne County should handle this one.
  6. Good post Mr.NoitAll! I'll have to admit I was shocked by Creek Wood's 2 and done. I listened to their game Tuesday night and they were cruising up 4-0 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th and pitching their ace. This is the same young lady who threw a perfect game in the Regional Finals and won their sectional game. I think that CW, although they hadn't stopped playing, was looking ahead a little with 2 outs and then got shocked with the walk-off grand slam! At that point CW had to go back to Charlotte (probably didn't get home until almost midnight) and turn around and leave early the next morning to get to Murfreesboro through morning rush hour traffic and be ready for a 10 am game. That's the problem with not staying in Murfreesboro. CW went from a 5 pm game Wednesday to playing early Wednesday morning. Not sure CW was able to rebound and then lost 4-3. That takes nothing away from CW's year. They had a great season and beat some super good teams - tied Beech; beat Chattanooga Central (2x), DeKalb County and Ravenwood; and lost to Riverdale 2-1. So they were no stranger to competition! They just couldn't make it happen in Murfreesboro. Good thing for CW is they have most of their team back and definitely the core of this State tournament team. Congratulations Lady Red Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. The corners may be 294' at Camden but the ball flies out of there like it's a little league field. One of the kids for Camden last night told his coach as he rounded 3rd after a home run that he hit his off the handle! At least 2 of Camden's home runs were literally hit off of the end cap of the bat! Of Camden's home runs only 2 were really well hit balls. I have seen many games at that park and routine fly balls at most parks are home runs there. That having been said, it is the same fence for everybody. The big time home field advantage for Camden is that their swings are coached to be tailor made for that park. Once they hit a bomb, if you can call a home run at Camden that, I think opposing teams start trying to hit it out and change how they swing the bat. Like Central and Harpeth last night, you just have to hit the ball and not worry about the home runs. Do not try to change your swing to fit the park. So much of pitching at that park also depends on the umpire. If an umpire will not call a strike at the knees (or just below)and you have to get it up, you are in trouble. I bet Stephen Gant kept the ball down and beat Camden, you're only talking about a pitcher that may well get drafted after his senior year at Riverside! Still gotta play the game and find a way. I think it will be hard to beat Camden at that park. They will find a much tougher row to hoe once they have to leave the friendly confines I am afraid. But that's why you win the district!
  8. Well said Clemlawn! Great game at Creek Wood! Crowd was awesome! Michael Purcell is a class act! He is a great example of how to play the game. Although you feel bad for him it was a great win for CW! Great win for Creek Wood and everybody contributed. Go get Camden next!

  10. That approved list is for BESR composite barrels. ALL BBCOR barrels are legal this year and moving forward. Quite honestly I think umpires and coaches ignored the issue as the year went on. The only time I saw it challenged was the first game of the year and the umpire had no clue what was legal and what wasn't and told the coach so. After that I never saw it questioned again. As the year went on I saw kids using all kinds of illegal bats. It will be interesting to see how all that is handled come post season? Next year is easy, go BBCOR or go home!
  11. You do not need to check the TSSAA website, all BBCOR bats are legal this year and next.
  12. 1 & 2 are locked for sure. Camden is 1 and Harpeth 2, unless Camden is swept by Stewart then they would be 2 and Harpeth 1. Harpeth is finished with District play and only has 3 losses so they can finish no worse than second. 3, 4 and 5 are up for grabs! Should be an interesting few days! What will Waverly do?????? Will they save Purcell for the play in game? Or let him pitch on 1 days rest?
  13. Dickson COunty had some damage but none to the baseball facilities. I think they have a tarp but I am not sure. Creek Wood lost the roof to the 3rd base dugout but the field is in excellent condition as usual. The field was tarped after Thursday's games so as soon as the weather breaks hopefully it will be baseball time at Creek Wood. 3 good games at CW last night. CW beat Goodpasture 5-2. Spring Hill beat Goodpasture 10-1. Creek Wood lost to Spring Hill 7-4 in a great baseball game.
  14. Camden definitely strokes it, especially at their place. It is difficult to beat them at Camden with the short porch. As they are in the driver's seat in the district I would guess that is where 11AA will be for the tournament. I think that is a huge advantage for Camden as they hit a lot of home runs there. That is such a tough park for pitchers because it seems routine fly balls become HR's in a hurry. If Waverly pitches Purcell at Camden that could be fun to watch. Should be an interesting 2nd half of the year in 11AA!
