  1. Greeneville 12 Cocke County 0 Greeneville's starters pulled after 17 minutes into the game - JV and Freshmen teams played remainder of the game
  2. Greeneville was pretty beat up after Saturdays games against Hendersonville and Bowling Green. They didn't have much left against Collierville on Sunday.
  3. You are right, it is an excellent tournament which attracts excellent teams from across the state. The amount of work on the part of many people to pull it off I'm sure is exhausting and they should be commended for that hard work. My only complaints are lack of refs for all the games, playing well into the dark on unlighted fields and the last minute shuffling of games to appease a certain few coaches. This is ment to be constructive and not degrogatory to all those individuals who worked so hard to pull this thing off.
  4. I didn't see that game but they looked good in the game I did see.
  5. Collierville looked pretty impressive at Katie Hunter
  6. Cute. There were 3 refs at one game - the final. Sorry, not adequate. All the games should be given as much weight as the final, IF NOT MORE. Your statement that "a good team will find a way to win" is condescending and frivolous.
  7. Katie Hunter has become the premier tournament for girl's high school soccer in Tennessee. It should be at the best fields with 3 refs at every game. Additionally, it should be run fairly for all the teams - none of this picking and choosing games and opponents after hours by a few coaches looking to pad their schedules and subsequent results.
  8. The game I was at was at the Cellular One fields - no lights. Not sure if ORHS field has lights. Some teams deftly run the trap but you put your faith in the refs to make the right call and as you said, it is hard enough for 3 refs to get it right and nearly impossible for 2. Having said that, I still think it can be done if the refs KEEP THEMSELVES IN POSITION to make the call. At lest there is a chance in getting it right but they were both in the middle of the field without regard to the defensive line and it is impossible to make that call . Maybe they thought they were quicker than the girls. They were not. You live by the trap and you die by the trap.
  9. I agree with you - I did not notice any bias towards any individual school in the games I watched but I did see ALOT of missed off side calls as is always the case when only 2 refs are utilized and don't keep themselves in proper position. And although we did not have a game called for darkness we did play well into the night without lights and not being able to see players or ball also because of an ankle injury which delayed the game by at lest 10 minutes with the player lying on the field.
  10. If you don't want to play a potential game against someone you are scheduled to play in regular season then don't enter the tournament. It's not fair to the other teams for schools to pick and choose their opponents. Farragut and Oak Ridge should have played each other and DB playing Cumberland Gap (a team in the smaller school Barry Redmond division) because they don't want to play Oak Ridge?? What a scam.
  11. It is a shame that a tourny as important as this as evidenced by the quality of the teams attending would not have 3 refs at any of the games. In all the games I watched rarely was the ref in position to make a proper off-side call. At best they could make a dubious intelligent guess. The girls on most of these teams are way too fast to make any accurate call from 10-15 yards up field from the last defender. If it's a cost issue then I'm sure the teams would gladly pay any additonal fees to get the 3rd ref and the call right. If it's a lack of refs then schedule less games.
  12. I'd like to add Patience Leonard (MF - Greeneville) She was all-state last year as a Sophomore and as a Junior in pre -season play, she looks stronger and quicker. Michelle Meade (F) also from Greeneville scored over 20 goals as a Freshman but missed the entire Sophmore year with a torn ACL. Now a Junior she should pick up where she left off and looks like she hasn't lost any of her speed. My bad. I just looked at the updated list and see both are now on it.
  13. Farragut scored 2 on greenevilles jv goalie. None against the varsity gk
  14. Hopefully the DB varsity feels good about itself in beating a group of Freshman and Soph. JV girls since they certainly could do nothing against the Greeneville varsity squad. McCloskey again shows his lack of class and sportsmanship.
  15. 2-1 Science Hill on PK's. Awesome game. Sorry, my bad, I was told the total pks didn't count towards the final score but they apparently do. Score was 1-1 at the end of regulation/overtime periods and 4-2 after pk's
  16. My daughter ordered one from some Argentinian or Brazilian soccer web site. It cost about 10-15 dollars and 15 more for shipping. She searched every where and this was the only place to get one. It was confiscated at a basketball game but she did use it at several soccer games this season. I'll have her post the web site when she gets home but if you order one now by the time you get it we may be into the girl's season.
  17. Greeneville 8-0 over Cocke County
  18. For all those out there reading this- thanks to the coach and some level headed parents - there was NO fight in the parking lot - just a lot of trash talking. Interesting though, the greeneville team was in one parking lot and the Jeff County team bus was in a separate lot on the opposite side of the the complex yet a Jeff County player found it necessary to go into the greeneville lot (amazingly with the encouragement of his mother) to try to start something. He was either very brave or very stupid. The previous post is correct, the after game antics were because the game was not controlled well enough on the field. My son was trash talked and battered the whole game. He kept his composure and didn't retaliate but there should have been multiple cards in this one and they should have come early. Also, Greeneville does not have this problem with any other team in or out of the district - just Jefferson County. It was the same last year when a greeneville player sustained a skull fracture against them. They play a different kind of soccer than every other team around. I am requesting our AD and coach look into this matter and discuss this with other coaches/AD's in the district to see if this is a team trend which should be curtailed in some sanctioned way.
  19. Not only is the quality of the game compromised but so is safety. I have seen more injuries of a more serious nature on the smaller fields vs. larger fields. You may never get an improvement with the game quality issue but when it comes to the pocketbook with increased insurance costs and lawsuits maybe someone will listen
  20. You can win a lot of soccer games by only scoring 1 or 2 goals a game. It is asking a lot of any offense to come from behind in almost every game and try to score more than 3 goals against a good team.
  21. It sounds mundane, but grades have a lot to do with getting recruited. It's a money thing. College programs have just so much money to spend on soccer scholarships. If 2 players are somewhat equal in ability but one has better grades, the coach can go to the academic side of the school and get money to bring the one with the better grades on. He then has more athletic money for you and other players. Many players don't realize this until it's too late to bring your grades up. An ACT of >25, SAT > 1100, GPA > 3.5 or the top 20% of your class looks great to a college coach if your also a good player. Also email your soccer bio with an introduction to the coach at the program you are interested in. If you look good, they will contact you.
  22. Even though my team lost (badly), I enjoyed watching these 2 teams play soccer (especially after watching the football/boxing match that occured with Jeff County last week). Morristown West scored 3 quick goals and it took the wind right out of Greeneville. They had their chances but Lance Moore is a tough goalie to score on. He is just very quick and aggressive. I really enjoyed the other 2 Tusculum signees - JT on offense and Shane on defense go at it all night long. These teams have several players who play together on traveling and they are friends. They played a physical but fair game and were still freinds at the end. Good luck MW. This is your year in the IMAC.
  23. I'm glad someone else feels that way. I have to agree. I was very worried about this game since a Greeneville player sustained a skull fracture last year when they played Jeff County. In that game 2 Jeff County players were red carded and one walked off the field yelling explitives at his coach. This year within 5 minutes of play one of the Jeff County players took a swing at one of the Greeneville defenders (unbelievably missed by three refs even though both players were involved with the play) and Jeff C. continued playing in that manner the remainder of the game. Since truefootballer is not a Greeneville fan and is expressing his observation from other games Jeff County has played, I can only assume this is the way they play many of their games.
