Excited to see Lavergne make their first state tournament appearance in school history!!!

Lavergne 3 Smyrna 1 Not suprising, Smyrna just isnt the team they used to be. But Lavergne looks very solid, great ball movement and they found the net when they needed to. Lavergnes defense is solid, alot of talent in the starters and good depth on the bench, BUT, the style of play is more of a "Sunday pick up game", rather than a possesion team, which could hurt them in the long run. I think if they settle down and work the ball around more, without forcing passes and going straight to goal, they can go far. Above all, good result for Lavergne.

Lavergne will be a solid contender in their district, IF they can work as a team. Alot of talent on the team as far as 1v1 goes, but it will be interesting to see if they can team play involved. Ali Guerra will be one of the main contributions to the midfield, he has great footskills, and is quite a good scorer, look for him to control the tempo throught the midfield for Lavergne. As for the defense, well id say they have few problems there, but not perfect. Led by a VERY strong defender in A.J. Gray, started since a freshman, molded into an aggressive but smart defender, knows how to stop ball and control the defense. Not sure about the goalie situation, but with a solid defense this team can go far.

The only game i am seeing for this district tonight is Beech at Lavergne. How will this play out? Any key players for beech or lavergne in the game? Or any key injuries that might set the team back? * I heard Hayes from lavergne has pink eye and is questionable for play...

lavergne knocks off mcgavock , with out bather an bryant , nice job coming back ,again. need to show more emotions early in the game, you guys can play this game. jefferson an watkins really have improved . time will tell how good these guys can be . ( just thinking what it would be like if the jefferson girl got to run the point one night , i must be crazy but this girl can play with the boys ............... )

you are so right, this happens to be a sore spot for ME!!!!!!!!! LHS needs to have a much better sports informations department, this has to be taught as a class , times have changed. if you want to see things in the paper you gotta have people in place.( i know some one will say they are in place , but i just dont think they are getting the job done!!!!!!!!! YOU MUST FIX THIS PROBLEM. people want to see things about there schools team in the paper an on the SCHOOLS ON WEB SITE. mr daniels, mr hockenberry ,mr miller please look into this problem. you must update every teams sport every week in season our out of season to build the fan base you need , if they have this class it needs to be looked at if not cut down on drivers ed on the road time an put more time in the class room on both drivers ed an make this a class . i wonder how many kids would sign up for a class they liked. told you it was a sore spot. an i know for a fact it will be seen on the basketball page. i get tired of blackman,siegle, always in the paper but they must have some one in charge of this..................... thats my take , i do think the boys team will have a very solid year if they can get some inside game going, point guard must make people guard him , an find the open guy on down low ,then this should open up the out side shot .

THE TIME IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!!!!! I will say this game will not be won or lost by any single player no matter want happens during the course of the game. both teams will make plays as miss some thats why we play the game. both teams should be up for this game an mistakes will happen , remember this is a game of inches. Thanks for answering your own question, I do not think crocker is a bad QB nor do i think williams is a great QB. you have to say that both could lead this team with the players they have around them,but the williams kid can run the ball better than crocker(no AROD ) which will be needed.SENIOR LEADERSHIP GOES ALONG WAY IN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS. JUST ASK SMYRNA WHO WAS THE LEADERS OWN LAST YEARS TEAM WAS. The D-Front will need to step up the overall play to contain the bryson kid if you want your DBS to have the coverage on the WRS. Dint mean to it home with anything. GO LAVERGNE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did see his kick to beat lavergne, but also saw his miss. the kid should keep working hard . HE SHOULD FEEL REAL GOOD THIS WEEK.

First thing i want you to know is crocker needs to understand when its not there dont make the silly mistake. this must be done with running the ball some from the QB spot. the williams kid to me seems like he can handle the rush better(HE IS THE SENIOR.)smyrna will show a different package than he has seen all year so the QB has to use his legs an head an not panic . I NOT SURE COMING DOWN ON THE ( D ) LIKE YOU DID AN CALLING OUT THE ( WR ) IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.ITS ONLY HIGH SCHOOL KIDS PLAYING A GAME THAT MOST STILL LOVE. smyrna does not have much tape on the williams kid so that should help lavergne some.they know what crocker is all about.....................can you stop the run.....................

I WENT BACK AN WENT SLLOOWWEERRRRR, IT WAS THE SAME.the fact his lavergne as the talent to compete with smyrna this year but still the underdog(no pun intended). the crocker kid is not ready to handle the different looks that smyrna will use. the siegle game showed this. he has made to many mistakes that can an will get you beat in these types of games. i dont want to be hard on the kid but that comes with being the QB. i just think the williams kid can handle things on the field better an put the ball in the hands of the WR,this is a game that the lavergne QB is going to have to use his head an legs to keep getting first downs an not always go for bomb. to the lavergne players that are getting looked at,just remember there is no need to take your helment off an sling it on the ground if your not happy your not 8 years old. not really the cool thing to do!

82cat you really need to get out of the house sometime,i just spent way to much of mine time reading everything you have to say, just keep it simple.... you keep saying things about the DNJ having the players from lavergne listed as this or that it just seems to me this hurts your feelings alittle bit, not enough smyrna players on the list i guess. every one would agree that sonny to rod is better than crocker to gray,but lavergne is deeper than smyrna at the receiver spot.sonny understands the game so much better than crocker does at this time an does not put his defence in bad field postion. the williams kid has a little more skill an poise at the QB postion, which is why i would start williams at QB an put Q has my safety an save the williams kid from playing both ways . YOU MUST HAVE A LEADER AT THE QB POSTION .................. one of the top soccer players in the midstate?? not to bash or anything, but ive never heard of him, and dont remember seeing his name on the All Midstate roster...? but i could be mistaken, what school does he go to?

having seen both players play i could not say it any better, but i will say crocker gets a lot of help from those wide outs with yards after the catch, just thing if sonny played with Q,GRAY,LERON,BATHER AS HIS WIDE OUTS gotta love zoning!

i understand the part of having a strong leg, but does he put points on the board, so i will ask the question of what do most coaches look for in place kickers . distance or points. having some one who can kick one thru the end zone on kickoffs is good but give me someone who can put the ball thru the uprights .

i notice that some of the names are also soccer players. has the coaches figured this out finally. the kid from cookville is a solid kicker,the kid from gallatin not scoring enough points but big leg,the wilson central an lavergne kicker have both put points on the board. kickers are the HERO OR GOATE...........BUT REMEMBER FOOTBALL IS A GAME OF INCHES.

i have watched this kid since he was 7yrs old play many sports in an around smyrna.the thing i have noticed is he has only played a hand few of really tough games.i mean games with the same talent level that he is.so it will be something he will have to ajust to , an it will take a few years to see if he will have any impact or not.to play at the next level he will need to keep very focused on making the right decisions on an off the field.its time to step up because the SEC is filled with kids like Rod.just ask BIG BROTHER................

football is a game of inches,one first down was by a nose of the ball for lebanon,#87 in the corner was ruled out of bounds(inches i belive),#7 wide open in the middle the ball missed his hands by want inches,a 42 yard field goal (at any level is not a gimmie)was ruled wide left by inches!!!! I have looked at the tape of the final kick OVER AN OVER,the only thing i can say is the ball did not go thru the up rights becuse it was appx 3 feet over the top of the left up right an landed appx 15yards deep. This would mean the kick was good if it crossed the post. if you look at the ref on the right he was not under the goal post.both teams deserved to win but only one can.
