Ridiculous Contact Tracing Strikes Again!

Agreed. My brother in law had it. He said it hit him a little harder than the flu. He was under the weather for about five days. -

I'm not arguing the rules at all. I actually thought you were by your posts. Now I see you are arguing the enforcement of the rules. All I know is from my own experience and what I have heard from others. I know where I live the 6ft for 15 minutes is what they go by. I know the area where I work is the same. Not honestly sure what others do but I would think if they shut a team down they feel like it's the best thing to do. -

Your comparing completely different circumstances here. What are the athletes going to push back against when the guidelines are set for all levels. Pro teams getting shut down, colleges, and yes high school. I think most are just glad to be playing period. Are some athletes playing with Covid. I'm sure they are. But at the professional and collegiate levels they are being tested. Look at the Titans, Wisconsin, TL of Clemson. The difference is high school kids and teams don't have the resources to do that across the board. So you must follow guidelines to be as safe as possible. Let's just agree to disagree. We see things differently. That's okay. Again, are you in a school building with students every day? Is your child in a school building every day? If not that is probably why you see things the way you do. If you are then you and your school or your child's school must be very blessed to be healthy and be around others that are all healthy. -

Pioneer I respect your position. However are you in a school building everyday? Is your child in a school building each day? Are you one who sets the CDC guidelines? Again schools are doing what they can under the guidelines set forth. What is there to push back on when these guidelines are put in place to protect students and school staff? I can tell you I get upset when a parent knowingly sends his child to school when the child is sick. Is that fair to my child? Is that fair to the other kids and teacher that will be around the kid? Now things are even more concerning because of Covid. Schools are following guidelines to protect students and school staff. How could anyone be against this. -
Thanks Mondo. Congrats!

I don't know if I would go that far Golden. Your defense is pretty tough and if you are the #2 seed they have to come to you.

I don't either but you never know. I am glad for all involved that they will know Monday instead of dragging it out and keeping everyone in limbo. -
Am I wrong in thinking that MJ will face WC? I thought MJ was the #2 seed and WC was the #3 seed.

From what I read both schools will have their appeals heard on Monday. -

Why would coaches leave either school over this. Doesn't make sense. And of course Puckett came to win championships. Nobody goes to a new school to lose and Shelbyville did not hire him to lose. -

Schools are doing what they can. Everyone is taking caution to be safe. I would hope anyone with common sense could understand that. As far as having mental anguish and depression due to sports come on now. I am sure kids and coaches will be upset when their seasons come to an end, that is normal. And I'm sure some kids that are on the fence of getting a scholarship might be affected. But hey here is an idea, if your kid is on the fence tell him to improve his grades, do some volunteer work, etc to improve himself. This situation has affected us all. If you don't like how things are going in schools then pull your kid and homeschool him. Put him at a private school. There are always options that are proactive instead of just being negative. Good luck to those having the privilege of playing tonight. -

Eers I am going by the FC news paper. Now to be clear it only spoke of the penalties handed to FC. I guess Shelbyville could be different but the TSSAA usually hands out the same punishment to each school involved. -

Just saw 2 year postseason ban and a large fine. That has been the norm. Sounds fair by what the TSSAA has done to others. -

Not trying to do that at all. Just saying if he is really a Shelbyville fan then step up and support them in the good times and bad. We all know his stance on Shelbyville and he is all about being fair. It's his middle name. Dont walk away just because things dont go your way. Dont blame others for something that was self inflicted. Simple as that. -

Sportsguy why get off of Coacht? From outside looking in seems like you didnt get your way so your out type thing. Not very mature and in my opinion not a great example to kids. Several of us on here have said punishments would probably be coming. I'm not sure what those punishments are but if you go by past results and what is fair based on those results you should have known what was possible. And why leave Coacht based on what TSSAA does. What has this site done that had any impact from TSSAA. I guess when faced with a little adversity some step up and others step out. -
Rankin is a great coach but Alcoa was good before he got there. Even Riverdale was decent before he got there. Sure he improved both but it's not like he built them from the ground up.
-
I just checked and TSSAA does not even have the EN v WC game listed for either team. Not sure why that game is not even showing up. But if it stands that would make a difference. If it stands and WC beats Stratford both would have one region win as would Stratford. If Siegel beats EN then in overall wins both EN and WC would have 2. Now the crazy part. Because if it stands then EN and WC have not played each other then you cannot use head to head results. So you go to the next tiebreaker which is basically quality opponents. And WC would get the nod because they played PC and HL. No way this stands.
-
WC cannot jump EN. EN has 2 region wins. Even if WC beats Stratford they would only have 1 region win. The standing shown earlier must not have counted the WC forfeit. Probably just an oversight on their part.

So what coach was quarantined? Can't see 16 players affected and not a coach. -

You said 16 were under quarantine. How come the entire team was not? -

If so its again convenient for Shelbyville football. Seems like if teams are shutting down for contact tracing the "FAIR" thing for Shelbyville to do would have also been to sit. It would have also been the safe thing to do which is even more important than being fair. -

Maybe I'm really lost. I have not heard of the health department viewing videos to tell who has to be quarantined. When did this start? -

Yeah I'm a little lost on that one. Schools like SC, Rockvale, and now DC having to sit while Shelbyville plays......
