In a close game, the Lipscomb Mustangs won it's season opener beating AAA Hendersonville 2 to 1. The Mustangs were lead on the mound by senior Talyor Merry. In his first outing Merry went 5 innings, striking out 11 and walked 2, with only 1 earn run. The closer,"Wild Thing" Daniel Lyons finished the final 2 innings while not allowing any runs. A pleasent surprise was sophomore Kevin Davis who had 2 hits and a spectacular catch in center field. Senior Chris Baumgartner provided a critical bunt in the 7th to move the go ahead run to 3rd. A wild pitch allow Blake Nelley to steal home for the winning run. The Mustangs face Dickson County tomorrow, 3:30 at Lipscomb.
