  1. There was a very good crowd at Central Station when Union City played at Obion Central about two weeks ago, about 1800 people. Central Station is the name given by the pep club to the new gym at Obion Central where the Rebels and Lady Rebels play. The gym was full and both student pep club groups were yellin with pep. THe OC pep club is called the Rebel Train and stands thru both games with some unusual looks. It is fun to watch them in action as they support their team. I expect Dyer County and Obion County to pack the gym again this Friday night when the Choctaws come to The Station. Go Rebels and Lady Rebels.
  2. I would nominate a person for the number one fan by the name of Danny that goes to as many high school games as possible to cheer for Obion County Central. Danny has to be carried to the games because of his handicapped situation. He loves basketball games and is a favorite with all that know him. He goes out and stands with the players as they are introduced and congratulates them after the game no matter whether they win or lose. He may not attend more than fifty games per year because of his situation, but he dearly loves to watch the players and is always very supportive.
  3. [ Second, if it wasn't for Jana, they may have never been in the ballgame. This is one team, without a their star player, that will have trouble......... You take away any main player from a bb team and all teams may suffer. But The OC Lady Rebels have many good players that can step up as has been seen. And they have bench strength which helps in the absence of one plalyer being out for injury or illness.
  4. They seem to have a trunover at the DM as much as the OC boy's program has had in recent years. What's up with that, anyway?
  5. Jana Roney hit a ton of free trhows, maybe all she shot. Did she even miss a one and how many did she hit? Definitely going to be a wild district tournament with Westview having being upset by Gibson Co. and Milan only beating Crockett. Co by a 54-51 margin. What a tight and tough district!
  6. I want to know more about Gibson Co. girls upsetting Westview girls tonight.
  7. Anothr great confidence booster this weekend. That's two in a row. Hopoefully it will continue. That 6th man called the "Rebel Train" was also at work and truly out in force. An awesome effort both on the court in both games and also in the stands. Keep it up Rebels!
  8. What a good boys game tonight between Union City and OCCHS. Turned out to be anything but a blowout. It was great to see OC boys step up their game tonight. Even though UC won, this was a good confidence booster for the Rebels to show that hustle for the entire game pays off. And the 'Rebel Train" was truly out in full force with lots of pep. From the home side, it sounded wonderful. I like that whistle that I hear. The whole gym seemed to be full and what a great atmosphere it was tonight. Keep it up Rebels and the Rebel Train
  9. I don't think OC Lady Rebels are oerrated at all even though you may have overrated them. Our district is just that tough with two teams from our district likely making it to the 'boro.
  10. WOW! What a district race. With Milan, Westview, and OC all in top 10 ranking of state and in same district and then throw in Dyersburg it sure does make for a strong district and exciting race into tournament time. It depends on who is on their game that night as to the team that wins, it seems.
  11. What was the free throw situation for OC? To me that may have been a big difference in the game. I though Milan played good defense last night which really seemed to bother OC. If Central had hit some earlier shots, the results would have been different. Their shooting just was not good early in the game.
  12. What is a contusion? How does it affect when Roney can be back on the court?
  13. If I read you correctly, I don't think you are promoting changing coaches. Coach Kail needs time and the public needs to show patience. Last year shows he is a good coach. He is adjusting to a new chapter as well. It is going to possibly take a few years for the program to turn around. The program did not go downhill overnight. Central fans and all those related need to be supportive of lthe players and coach as well. It is obvious fromm the win over Milan that the players are not giving up. They need many confidence boosters. Last night was only one of them.
  14. I am impressed how the Lady Rebels dive after a loose ball. They have also know how to dribble on their knees for that has happened a lot. There are a lot of little things that OC does that helps to win games. Go OC Lady Rebels I pick OC over Milan by 11.
  15. Obviously the Lady Rebels are in the driver's seat in their disitrict having beaten Milan and Dyersburg. Will be a really tough game though in Dyersburg when Holloway gets healthy. But then the OC Rebelettes will have time also to work on some things too. Where was the Dyersburg pep group that is so active at their place?
  16. What a great win by the OC. Obviously the "never say die" attitude has paid off the last two nights. Each player playing their role as Coach Kail has said they must do is paying off. The wins may not be pretty, but at least they are finding ways to win. Three wins in a row has got to be a welcome Christmas present and a momentum booster to both coach and players. Congrats to the team on the upset.
  17. J. Roney from Obion County Central in AA has to be considered from Northwest Tennessee. Even though she is a junior and on the team that I support, she is a quality player.
  18. Finally got caught up on all the posts. I get goose bumps thinking about the new OCCHS gym being known as Central Station and the pep club group being called the Rebel Train. I think those names are a superb fit for the new facility. I feel like I earned my wings as a fan and now have some of those nice seats on the lower side and love seeing the Rebel Train be vocal, excited, and into the games. I hope that comments will be kept clean as time passes and that the Train will grow as well. Go OC An observation and a question however from someone on the outside looking in! Why is the home bench on the west end of the gym and not on the east end. If the home bench was on the east end and the Rebel Train sat behind the home bench, then the cheerleaders could use all of the east end much better for cheering and also cheer to both sides and to the penthouse section up high. THen there should be no conclict with the visitors.
  19. Where is the district tournament scheduled to be played this year?
  20. I was disappointed in the drinking that I saw ( I think that is what I have been seeing) as well as the bad language that is being used. WIth a show about football, you know that many teenagers are going to watch it. They could still have a good show without the unnecessary.
  21. I would propose that the Milan Bulldog golf team in A-AA is a possibility to give USJ a run for their money in the regional. I am told that their five shoot 39 or less. From the different messages read, the state tournament this year in A-AA must be fielding a strong group. Looks to be very interesting.
  22. Who is Murphy Fair? There used to be a person by that name that lived in Union City, Tn. years ago. Could he be the same one?
  23. Congratulations to Bill and Allison Kail of Troy, Tn on being the proud parents of a new baby boy. Benjamin Harris Kail weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and is 22 inches long. Alllison Kail is the former Allison Harris that played girls' basketball for Obion County Central in the years of fall 1994-winter 1998 graduating in 1998. A brother named Matt Harris played for OCCHS and for Murray State University a few years later. Allison now teaches at Lake Road School in Obion County and is an excellent young teacher. Her husband Bill recently guided Hillcrest Jr. High to an undefeated season this school year winning the county, district, and sectional tournament in West Tennessee. Congratulations, Allison and Bill, on your new baby boy and probably a future basketball player.
  24. If this info is true and it comes about, then I want to also congratulate Abby on her future. I only know her from primarily what I have seen of her and what I have heard. I have know her mother, Maria, since meeting her when she was a student at the old Hornbeak school. It seems Maria has passed her qood qualities on to Abby and as a result, Abby seems to be a mature, hard-working, and fine young lady. She has shown great leadership on and off the ballcourt. Lambuth will benefit from having her as a part of their program. Best wishes in your future, Abby from a fan that has enjoyed watching you play.
