  1. Overton is good offensively. Good passing and ground game. D is tough. Will give Arlington fits
  2. Outside of the top 3 in Region 4, Memphis football is not that good. Region 3 will go 5-3 this Friday. My upset pick might actually be a not so good Antioch over White Station. If the Bears can actually play 4 qtrs, they MAY be able to win. They are strong on defense, just can't score. Whitehaven and Cordova are an entity of their own. White Station will more or less beat Antioch. The rest ✌
  3. Come on GoldenBear, lay off the Metro schools. I've been reading post and everyone is not as fortunate to have an outstanding kicker like MJ. He will be playing on Sundays one day. Metro is lucky to possibly pull a soccer player, or get someone who can get a toe on the ball. Don't fault them for the population they have to pull from. We can't all send our kids to kicking camp.
  4. Whoa RavenNation. I don't have a dog in this fight, and would love to see CR do well. But Indy is another monster. Their region is not great, but has some solid teams. Indy is primed for another run. Good luck to you all in the playoffs. Represent Metro well.
  5. HL started downhill when the current principal came. It has been said that she is not fan of athletics. Makes it very difficult for coaches when it comes to running their programs. If you have noticed the turnover in coaches since Campbell left. Most don't last more than 3 years. I hate it for HL, because it was one of the best programs in Metro. But also take a look at the other sports programs, and you can see a significant drop in performance. Also look at the turnover in teachers at the school. People are trying to get OUT!!!!! There are usually over 30 vacancies at HL every year
  6. Buzzing from busy bees say that former coach will be pulling the box from the back of the closet to wear on the sidelines again. Bees also say he will be bringing some former players and school alumni to bring back that winning spirit.
  7. He's talking about Woodward. There might be some good candidates that apply. I am really hating it for the players right now. There is no stability in this program. Is there anyone in house that can right this ship. Are there any old coaches in the building that can help a new coach that comes on board. Is Bush done coaching? I heard from a source that Dooley was going to come back. What are his credentials? I hope this works out for the players and the school.
  8. Calvin Hall was removed as Antioch's HC yesterday after an 0-11 season by new principal.
  9. I am attempting your blanks. 106- Nathan Manivong, best 106 in region. Mcgavock kid Birney is tough, and undefeated. But they did not wrestle head to head in their match. Heard the coach say he had the #1 seed and didn't want to risk it. 145-is a toss between several wrestlers. No clear cut favorite. 160 - Kemale Strong (Hunters Lane) best wrestler no one has heard about. He is also undefeated. The Lane doesn't go to any high profile tournaments, so no one has seen him. I believe he has beat Austin Ryan this season. Not sure, but he is scary good. 170- difficult, not very strong. Watch for Carney of Summit, or Branch of Antioch 182-same as 170. I think Gardner of Overton is the champ here 182-same as previous weights. Kazmerick?? Of Brentwood probably gets the nod Also at 138, don't leave Butler of Summit out of the mix. He pinned Iler at Brentwood.
  10. Was called out after the finals match by a team not involved. Would have probably came to light. Not sure why there was a coaching change, the new coach is the business manager, who stepped in so that their season would not fold. So he really had no idea what was going on. Administration can be blamed, they should have called someone in Nashville as to what procedures to follow. They have some good kids that will do well at individuals. It is a shame.
  11. Story on mopattonsports.com. Wrestlers apparently were at lower weight classes than weight assessment. They changed coaches midseason, new coach is not wrestling guy. TSSAA DQ'd the team.
  12. I'm going to say watch the 125 from Antioch. She ran through the region. She looks tough.
  13. Siegel also beat Blackman tonight. Will probably be in from Region 5.
  14. Looks like Region 6 will come down to the wire on Williamson side. 3 teams all with 1 loss to each other. What is the tiebreaker? Antioch ran through the Metro district. I saw on Facebook they were undefeated, and pretty much dominated every match. They could be peaking at the right time.
  15. I saw a couple of young ladies from Antioch at Hendersonville Tournament that looked tough. A 125 and 130. The 125 is jacked. Didn't look like she knew much but ran through her opponents. The 130 I think won 1st.
  16. Bringing this back up. Most teams are halfway through District or Region Dual schedule. What are teams looking like from each region now???
  17. Brackets are up on Track Wrestling
  18. Looking at teams, not individuals. What teams are the favorites in each region? AAA Region 1-Tennessee High, Science Hill Region 2-Knoxville Halls, Gibbs Region 3- Region 4-Bradley, Cleveland Region 5-Siegel, Cookeville Region 6- Region 7-Wilson Central, Beech Region 8 A-AA Region 1-Pigeon Forge, Greenville Region 2 Region 3 Region 4 Region 5 Region 6 Region 7 Region 8 My stab at it, with what happened last season. Not sure with A-AA schools. I'm not sure with the regions left out. Region 6 could be a toss up this season, along with Region 8. Not too familiar with Region 3. Let's start the discussion
  19. IMO, I believe McGavock will win this due to sheer speed. Mt. Juliet is a well coached team, but think of Cane Ridge with McGavock. They have speed for days. I honestly don't think MJ can keep up with them, and I have seen both teams play. Good luck to both squads Friday to avoid the long trip to Shelby County.
  20. Well which ever team wins the region is guaranteed a spot in the 2nd round of the playoffs, as they will get a winless Antioch to host.
  21. Well Gents, I will be the first to eat crow right now. I have observed this team through the season, and they are just bad. From the coaches to the players. In this latest loss, as in most of their losses, they quit in the 2nd half. A mistake here, snowballed into whatever. Honestly, a coach is only as good as his assistants, and this coach's assistants are not that good. I was watching as the DC hollered and screamed at the defense, whoever is calling the offense seems to think they are playing Madden. The starting QB is not very good, the backup seems to be the better player but apparently is not getting any reps or guidance at reading defenses. The running game is non-existent, which would open up the pass. If anything, Antioch could always run the ball. They had a kid, #22, that seemed to have some speed, but Lebanon's D keyed on him and he became a non-factor. The big kid is not a RB. Defensively, there is no speed in the secondary, LB can not read. They do have 2 good DE's. But if this cycle continues, these kids will not be there long. Well at least they get a trip to Memphis out of this season. Maybe next year will be better.
  22. Its amazing how the fraternity of Metro coaches has an issue with the hires. Be happy there is a coach now. Lets quit beating around the bush. The hire fits the demographics of the school. A African American male will lead the highest profile sport in the school. If I am not mistaken, is this not the 1st African American head football coach in the history of the school? What will happen is, there will be an influx of players to play, because they can relate to the coach. The principal made the hire she wanted, and after seeing and hearing how no one wanted to play because of the coaches. Hall will do a good job. Did he fit in at Ezell-Harding. No. Why, because of who he is. It is not about X's and O's a lot of times, but the support you get. He will have plenty of support at Antioch, because a lot of the coaches there are African American. You all think you know football so well. Ha
  23. Internal word is that the coach that was the 1st choice before Peden has been hired. He comes from Memphis.
  24. Summit is a good team, was down early to Antioch, but stayed the course and pulled out big wins in the middle weights. I must say Antioch gave them a run for their money early. Not sure what the coach is over there doing, but he has those guys going, and he is very passionate about the sport. Good luck to Summit, and Antioch, the rest of the way!!!!
