Its nice that they include out of state opponents strength of schedule. This gives credit to the teams that play a tough tournment schedule against tough out of state opponents. A good true indicator of how tough these teams are on a national level.

To answer why he says that they play like 6'7" or 6'8" guys is that at the Poplar Bluff Tourney the Twisters outrebounded a Harrison Georgia lineup that measured 6-7, 6-6, 6-5, 6-3 and 6-2 by a 32-22 count. UC's tallest player was the same height of there smallest starter and they out rebounded them by a good margin!! Think about that..... ???They were the biggest teams we??™ve played against in my nine years at Union City,??? Sisco claimed.

I was slamming the Maryville fan for even stating that Maryville had a chance against a team of Liberty's caliber. I was also correcting the Maryville fans post as he was saying teams from the west play "run-in-gun" with NO DEFENSE or in the east, a much more controlled tempo with stiff defense....thus the TN Vols comparison. Teams like Liberty, DC, & UC run and gun AND probably play some of the stiffest defense the state has to offer. The fast pace, offensive transition points are created off of TURNOVERS!!! Here, I will give an easy example for you that hopefully you can relate to: TN plays what some would call a fast pace, "run-in-gun" style of ball. Under your description of this style of play, they have no defense. Don't you realize that most of the fast break points are directly contributed to turnovers which a suffocating defense caused?? You simply cannot say that a team only does either or. If you really feel this way, you just showed your low basketball IQ. Wait a minute...Now I just read the part about you saying a team like Maryville beating Liberty. You really do have a low b-ball IQ. You can't be serious about this are you????

STATS??? It is called the Union City Daily Messenger (BTW, one of the top sports newspapers in the state, and yes, they have awards to prove it). Do you want me to provide their phone number so you can double check my work??? How about I dig up the issue that all these stats were compiled in and list this as well? Guess I should of cited my references, since you don't believe these statistics. Did not know I was writing a term paper.

Here's why: First off, there is no "if" to it. They were averaging over 90pts per game (around 92 to be exact). Second his numbers could have been much worse... From the regular season they looked like this: He averaged 16ppg, 7apg, 6rpg and 4spg..He did all this in averaging just 23 minutes per game because of the big leads that UC put on opponents..... He shot 52% from inside the arc...36% on his threes and 74% free throws..... Most importantly: He SAT out the entire fourth quarter 14 times this season and did not even play the entire second half in five games (big leads) Now again, voters must of looked at 1. UC's record 2. Margin of victory 3. Schedule of being invited to and playing in nationally recogonized tournaments 4. MJ leading an offense that averaged over 90 pts per game 5. Dominating performances over larger AA and AAA schools. With all these stats thru the whole season, show me a candidate with a better resume? Skogen is an outstanding player and I could see where this could go either way. My vote however would have been for MJ due to all of the season-wide variables listed above.

Agreed. Liberty is obviously on another level and I'm proud for them. Now, we just have to get UC and Liberty to schedule each other since they are close!! I would love to see UC play them at least for good practice on UC's part!

Obviously, voters looked at UC's record, margin of victory, schedule of being invited to and playing in nationally recogonized tournaments, MJ leading an offense that averaged over 90 pts per game, and dominating performances over larger AA and AAA schools. Granted, Skogen is a senior and led his team to the state title, but considering all these variables, is there another leader on a single A team out there that has a better "season-wide" resume?

This is the state tournament. Every team there is qualified and recognized as one of the states best from there region. It is not Liberty's fault that they are that much better, so don't criticize them for winning big. If this was during the season with nothing on the line, then you might have a slight point. Now is the time to either win or go home. Anyone that steps in the way of these kids on trying to achieve there dream, they should try to eliminate them at all costs. The pace of game that Liberty plays is a much faster pace. To get them to completely slow the game down, would not benefit them for future games. The regular starters need to go thru the same routine every game to stay focused and conditioned for what lays ahead.

The thread starter WAS NOT A UC POSTER!!! Just an average fan that mostly cheers for teams out of Memphis and good West TN basketball. I did not start this thread. I agree with you that this is over. You jumped the gun on "assuming" that this was a die-in-the-wool UC poster that started this thread. He/she was stating his thoughts about who would win it all. Granted, I would have chosen different words to start the thread, but don't think that this is an attempt by UC to expect some sympathy. They lost and did not do what it takes to win it all. Are you trying to pick an argument with someone that mostly agrees with you????

UC is not there and found the wrong time to lose. Agreed that they are not there and congrats to the other teams that are at the boro. I think that the point was that UC was on another level this year in A. If you look at their schedule and how they dominated TN teams, you will have to think this. Ex: The team that Dyer County barely beat tonight in AA (Whitehouse), UC beat 102-76 in a holiday tourney. If there was a system in TSSAA like NBA with a multi-game playoff, then without a doubt, UC would win it all IMO. Don't take this the wrong way, I DON"T WANT THIS FORMAT as the one that is in place now is the best!!! Just stating my opinion. Now,...I think we can agree that this is all pointless now. This should be about all the teams that are at the boro right now fighting for their chance at gold. UC had an unbelievable season and lose only two seniors, but truthfully they are done. Now is the time to praise whatever team walks away with the gold on Sat. regardless if they are the best "overall." This is the system that is in place, and we should praise the eight teams that made it there and the team that wins should be able to have their moment in glory without any negative slack.

No kidding. What was the percentage against the UC game? I was there but can't remember. I do remember them shooting good from the line. They are capable of doing it, I just don't know what happened today. Come on vikings.

Invincible....no, but close to it in single A. If you look at UC's margin of victory against all teams, averaging over 90 points per game throughout the entire season, and finally UC's record against larger school AA teams and see how they dominated them, it will make things a little more clear. Also, the quality of teams they faced which are recoginized on a national level in holiday tournaments made them ready for anything (except Humboldt that night). The only teams beside Brentwood Academy to play them really close in TN were the two teams that play them the most in Lake County and Humboldt. Humboldt did beat UC when it counted, but UC did beat them by double figures both times in the reg season. Now, the game Humboldt played against UC was nothing short of awesome and I have to give them all the credit. They did what they had to do to beat UC. That night, this was the Humboldt team that everyone thought they were going to have before the season started. Somewhere during the season however, they played to the level of there competition and lost a couple of games. When on, they have the talent to dominate. It just worrys me a little on which Humboldt team will show up at the boro.

Can't quit can you??? The last thread was closed on this matter due to the persistent complaints by Oliver Springs fans over this game. I am sure this one will be closed also. How can you say this about the Gleason fans?? Do you really expect them to sit here and take all this bashing about there team?? To refresh everyone this whole deal started with: 1st. Bad Refs. This started immediately after the game. This is usually expected to some extent as all teams and fans are guilty of this to some levels, but only happens for so long before you realize that the game is over and you lost. 2nd. When the ref deal wore off, the persistent OS fans started complaining about the "Stall Ball" tactic saying that it is unfair. 3rd. Now we have this so-called violation that you are bringing up which would have no effect on the game what-so-ever. Seriously, ITS OVER!!!!!!!!! I don't have a dog in this either way. (ex: if the roles were reversed and OS was treated this way, then I would be on there side trying to stop the bashing and sore-loser attitudes also), Truthfully though, I have lost a lot of respect from OS fans because of there persistent attitudes regarding the matter. Congrats to them on a great season and good luck down the road.
