Last night as I was able to come to town, sit near the top of War Memorial Stadium to get the best overall view and watch the Golden Tornadoes do their deal, I did notice two things that I saw earlier in the year when I went to watch Dresden in person that have not changed. They do not have ANY kind of kicking game in field goals, point after's or kick offs ( which is a MUST to go deep into the playoffs ) and when you run up against a team that can half way cover man to man or zone defense of your passing, interceptions will happen. I agree with a earlier post above, until you have a kicker, your very likely not to make it very deep come playoffs. And it is true....a true, smash mouth football game plan of running the ball on you and very little passing if any will produce wins and GOLD Footballs. A more than 50%aing gam plan will get you turnovers and limited playoff games. Winn is good but he ran for his life last night as many of the U C faithful knew he would.

To you Dresden supporters, this is not a trash talking statement so please understand. As I have stated before, I have seen your team play in person more than once. What is up with these ejections and yellow flags ? Is it that coach Rang has them playing that aggressive when the TSSAA is starting to cut back or is it the TSSAA refs are out for Dresden? You know as well as I that your team has seen more than its share of yellow material laying on the field after a play is over. Union City plays very aggressive but not that aggressive to get ejected or many yellow flags. Just wanting to know. Oh, and the TSSAA will not overturn a call of such. Once the game ends and anything reported, films are watched but most of the time nothing done. The "what should be done the next time around" decision is discussed.

This should really be a good game. And the thing is, may play two time and this game is not for the marbles like game #2 might be. Trenton is falling fast. They have not played with the same team since our game as kids have been suspended and moved positions. The key for Union City to beat Dresden is clock control. Union City is now starting to show why they won so many passing camps this past summer, they are something like 5 for 6 on passes with 5 T D's. Dresden will not stop Union City's veer or slow them down. Union City is going to have to get in the backfield on Wynn kid some which they can do. Union City pass defense is not as good as last year but better than the 2013 team. So should be a decent amounts of points scored. Union City also has two good field goal kickers. Does Dresden have field goal kicker with decent leg ? Union City is good for about 35....maybe 40 yards on a consistant basis. Union City I still believe will show Dresden the fastest defense that they have seen. Penalties could come into play as Dresden has their share every game. Lots of time to prepare.

My hats off to Dresden for going in and taking control of the Trenton Peabody team. I really thought the game would have been closer...but close it was not. Great game plan. This just shows how much turmoil that Trenton may have going on and wasn't prepared to play a game of such. See you in two weeks. Should be a dandy....

Peabody's #45 Johnson can and will run hard. Peabody's line is big and strong. Dresden's line is suspect as I have seen in person. A question to you Dresden folks, what does Dresden do more, pass or run? I really do not think Dresden has been tested yet. Union City and trenton has as Trenton might have lost to Union City, they did beat a "getting better Milan team" at the beginning of the year. I personally feel the key in this game boils down to 2 things. #1 Dresden's offensive line has to be strong enough to protect Wynn all night with the Trenton Defensive line being big. #2, with Malone moving to W R, that adds so much more to what Trenton can do on offense. I still say Trenton by 10 and if Trenton's offensive line does well, this could end up being a 3 touchdown game in the favor of Trenton. I have seen Dresden. I have seen Trenton. This game I look for several taunting yellow flags thrown as both teams have a couple that like to talk so the refs will get control of that early.

I've actually seen both teams play. I give the edge to Trenton, why ? Well, Trenton has the total package with a good line, speed, passing game, running game, kicking game, special teams. Yes, Union City did put up over 500 yards rushing on Trenton, something Dresden can't do. Dresden can throw the ball but Trenton's defense against the pass is good with speed. Trenton linemen out weighed Union City but Union City line was twice as fast. I saw Dresden two weeks ago. Dresden line is suspect...Wynn runs around a lot. When you are a team that more so centers your game with passes, pick sixes are likely to happen. Dresden can run but not the speed of Trenton. With the changes Trenton has made with their qb and all, this is best for the team. Union City against Trenton it made no difference who was at Q B. I like Trenton by 10.

The way things work out in High School Football in Western Tennessee....you are either 1A or 4 A. Not much in between. Union City will do just as well in 2A as 1 A. Yes, correct, U C did try to go 2A...will prob. be there next year.

I just got what I wanted, for you and others to say Malone is a problem for your team. case closed for me!

First of all...if he ( Malone"y") has been given another chance, you need to fire your coach. What a joke. If your coach and administration does not have the footballs to kick him off the team, your respect has been lost even more and the team is being taught it is ok to do bad things because we will let you off the hook. Malone should be gone...he is a average player to many. Union City has his number....had his number last year. He is NOT a team player. If you were much of a fan, ,you would want the best for your team and him being removed. The team ( Trenton ) that is, is a much better team without Malone. Trenton is the talk of west Tennessee football due to Malone and him having his way. Like I said..."if" he wore Purple and Gold.....his days would have been over the first time and never wore them again. Many of the posters here on coach T would agree with what I just posted. I hope someone sees the light, for the team and school sake.

I said this year I was not going to trash talk and staying to that statement BUT, you will NOT hold Union City under 200 yards. How do you even think that is possible when we ran up over 500 + on Trenton. You better come to play hard because Union City is real and only replaced the spots with experience. Union City has not missed a beat so be prepared as I know you will. I also understand a starter was ejected the first quarter of the game for Dresden. Why is it over the years, Dresden has troubles ? I have witnessed many Dresden games and there always seems to be problems with personal fouls, etc...ejections. I read a post another Dresden fan posted about the cleanup...even a Dresden fan sees that. I have to brag on U C as we do NOT have those problems. Yes, our kids get aggressive like everyone else but not to the point ejection comes into play. Just wait til you play Trenton and if Malone is on the field. Trenton also has those problems. From what I am hearing...many are driving up on a Wednesday. Some are flying in on a Thursday. But to answer your question. At least 100-150 is predicted to go and there may be more. The band is not going but cheerleaders are. Should be a great, but tiring experience win or loose these kids will never forget.

It's a long time before this could ever happen. Many have to save their money for "black Friday" shopping. There are way to many "what ifs" in the scenario for it to happen. If Union City can win out and NCS wins out, that time will come once again. D1 players ? You have had them the last two years....and actually fueled Union City to play harder. They had never been hit like they were against Union City and some of those kids still have memories of hose hits. I hope the day does come that Union City is playing on Black Friday. But I will say this, the State Champion will come from west of the Tennessee River, write that down and repost it on Championship day.

No doubt, Taylor at the commanders spot makes Trenton a better team. Malone needs to start preparing for baseball.

"theripper", I will match our first three teams we have played against anyone. Trenton is not a one man show. You will find out. Your line ( offensive ) better be ready....just ask Trenton as we had both of their Q B's running for their life all night long. From my contacts, Dresden line(s) are suspect and your team is the one that is the "one man show". Stop your Wynn kid as Q B and it is lights out for sure.

After watching Huntingdon already this season a half and then seeing Dresden for a half and then the entire U C game last week vs. Trenton, as I have been traveling around the state with work and then able to see some west Tennessee football games, I have to put Huntingdon and Dresden ahead of Trenton simply because they are undefeated. Any team is beatable. Since both Dresden and Huntingdon are in the zero loss columns, Trenton should have fallen to at least #6. Don't get me wrong, the are a very, very good football team. One thing they have a problem with is discipline ( Trenton that is ). This will more than likely be the downfall of this team. When you have already had at least 4 to 5 players suspended for some unknown reason starters or not on a team, this will haunt you. Union City just took care of business as normal against Trenton and the stats I posted on the U C vs. Trenton thread shows that. . NCS is tough, REAL tough but only one team in the rankings owns them, Union City. Beat them at their place in 2013 and at U C place last year. One thing Union City has that no other team has in Class A and for that matter a couple hand full of teams state wide, a Very GOOD/GREAT coach. Coach Woods is gone from Trenton, he brought a lot to the table. Coach Bowling brings tons to the table with 3 rings on his finger is 7 years. . So, the pole should say Trenton 2-1. Mistakes are easy in print to make. This early in the season, Trenton has time to climb back up in a easy way so I feel they should have dropped a few. Until they beat Dresden, a Huntingdon or a NCS, the can't really say much. And for Milan, yes, Trenton beat them but Milan is not Milan anymore. Their program has fallen somewhat.

Interesting for you football fans out there...Stats showing how Union City basically controlled the high powered Trenton P-body. Even spotting Trenton to a 14 - 0 lead in the first 5 minutes into the game. U C 19 first down, Trenton 11. U C total offence 550 yards, trenton 271. U C zero punts, Trenton 4, time of possession, U C over 32 minutes in a 48 minute game. Trenton did have just over 100 yards passing, U C less than 10 yards. Penalties, U C with 9 ( 64 ), Trenton 4 ( 40 ) . U C... 2 turnovers, Trenton 1. It would not made ANY difference with Malone in the first half of the game. UC sacked him least 4 times n the second half which he only played in. Malone can't bat a good team like Union City, Dresden or NCS by himself. Trenton is a really good team but if you play smash mouth football like U C does against them, you will wear them down. I'm sure they will meet again. Final, U C 49, Trenton 35.

Union City is the team that didn't lay down, just knocked off their feet for the first couple of rounds in a 12 round fight. Both teams battled very well and folks got their money's worth at this game.

Very Good ball game. Union City continues to reload week after week. Trenton, GREAT game and I am sure the Purple & Gold will face the Black and Gold again come November. Malone is a playmaker for sure but Union City line and backs are a match for him. He probably hasn't run for his life and been hit like he was tonight since last year when Union City played them. Both are very good teams and if you can't stop Union City's veer....you can't stop their machine. Best wishes the rest of the season and hope your injured player gets healed up soon. Union City had well over 500 yards total offense against a very good football team tonight...with two kids over 200 yards each.

Is Trenton going to be 100% with their starters ? U C actually may be 100% fir the very first time all season.

mrbigster, you sure have gotten kind of quiet on your post here. You must have seen what everyone else has been trying to tell you at the Dyersburg scrimage. Lake Co. will have a tough season....maybe .500 at best. No line, no defense, 1 player.

This will only make the Red Devil followers even more upset....another L handed to them by a Class AA ( as they claim ) team Union City.....

I sure wish you would go start your own Lake Co. post. No one wants to hear your crap on here. You can be satisfied after Union City drills your team time after time and you still think you want to find something wrong with a team that is BACK to BACK Gold Football Champions and has a 27 - 0 record. Please, you being jealous is very obvious. Good luck to the Lake Co. Falcons this season.....and NO ....Waverly did NOT score that many times on Union City. Union City scored at least 3 times within a total of like 11 or 12 plays.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the NCS community. So very sad.

Huntingdon is a threat but not as much as maybe the Trenton's, Union City's or NCS's....and maybe even Dresden. Union City has pretty much had their way with Huntingdon as of late also. e know Union City's dream Run's can't last forever but we sure are enjoying them right now as everyone else would be also.

to YOU " mrbigster" ! I am so very sorry you are who you are. It is ashame you have to look past the success of your own program to trash another. What does it take mrbigster...what does it take. Union City proves basically year after year how they dominate your green and yellow falcons. You for some reason can't accept the fact that Union City has what it has. Deal with it sir. It ain't gonna change !!! I know Lake county will be decent but a one man show can't handle a "team" ( 11 players ) who play hard. I am not going to argue with you. You have taken me away from shinning our "back to back" GOLD footballs so I will get back to what I was doing. And in the mean time....go float down the river over there and think about good times in life...not trying to trash a success that is proven and your team was in the way of the "proven fact" Til Friday night lights turn on....practice hard buddy...your team is gonna need it !
