  1. Chakra20, It may be a typo on your part, but I would put the West 1A Bracket as a far tougher road then 1A East. There was not a single team in the East that could have stayed with Ezell, CPA, Collinwood or USJ last year. With the exception of Boyd Buchanan as a potential contender from the east, I think the same is true this year also. [Edited by OnlineLC on 8-26-02 9:09A]
  2. Has anyone actually met meanjean? After watching "A Beautiful Mind" I have to admit that I live in a little fear that he is in fact not real, and just a figment of all our collective minds for those of us who spend too much time on coacht? Regardless, I have to admit that I always check on the score of Fairview nowdays.
  3. I am a little fuzzy on 1995 but here is the playoff record for CPA. 1996 - Eliminated by Cloudland (2nd round) 1997 - Quarterfinal loss to Trousdale (54-0) 1998 - Quarterfinal loss to Trousdale 1999 - Quarterfinal loss to Trousdale 2000 - State 2001 - 2nd round loss to Collinwood. I can't remember if CPA lost to Gordonsville in 95 or in an earlier year. Regardless it is at least 6 plaoffs in a row, possibly 7. [Edited by OnlineLC on 8-25-02 4:11P]
  4. I was surprised to see them playing again also so soon after the scrimmage. Is it possible both teams had Clarksville Academy on their schedule and decided to add this game last minute on their schedule? When was this game played? I saw Lighthouse at the Nashville Christian jamboree on Friday night against St Andrews. Did they play again on Saturday?h
  5. Hillsboro beat Hillwood by a very convincing margin in the 1st scrimmage. CPA vs Glencliff was stopped due to lighning after about 9 mintutes but CPA were ahead by 13-0.
  6. You may be correct about Atlanta. I usually listen to the post game radio on the way back to my hotel after a game at Turner Field just to help me understand enough that I can with a talk with tiny measure of inteligence to clients who genuinely love the game. The thing that has always befuddled me is how unapreciative the fans are down there when they call in. Most cities would love to have a team the quality of the braves, however it appears to be a city that only a Title makes for a good season. Likewise, most Sundays you can get tickets for a Falcons game (apart from the Superbowl season). I am glad to say that most fans in Tennessee are not that way. I think the success of Titans support has surprised a lot of folks in the country.
  7. I know CPA is involved in a Jamboree this Friday where we will be playing Glencliff. The jamboree will be held at Hillwood High School.
  8. You are so coacht if you live in fear that you may lose your membership to the coacht board after it has been revealed that one day life got totally out of order and you checked e-mail, cnn.com and stock prices before you hit the coacht button. Alright I confess, it did happen to me one day last week....I repent, I'm unworthy.
  9. The poll is just a simple fan poll so I would not worry too much about how to position 2 teams having the same number of points as it will very likely change the next time someone votes. I'm sure what you suggest could be done but it doesn't determine playoffs or BCS rankings or anything like that so I can happily live with it as is. Besides it is somewhat flawed in just the way it is set up. If there are more fans on coacht with a bias to one team over another, the results will always be skewed. I believe it is there just as a point of interest (and sometimes lively discussion) as the season kicks into action.

    FRA athletics

Don't know too much about the real facts but it is possible their success made them highly desireable to other schools to hire.

    FRA athletics

Good set of facts KGP3428 to dispute the argument, one good mark for you.

    FRA athletics

I am not associated with FRA but I would not classify their athletics as being eroded. They seem to consistently have good track and cross country teams and this last year had an excellent boys soccer team who were very skilled. Their football program was a little weaker last year but I saw lots of promise for the future when we played them. I expect they will be in the thick of the dog fight for the hard fought playoff spots in 5-1A this year.
  13. The best one is their prediction for a week 0 game between Loretto and Ezell with Ezell winning by 50-1. I guess Loretto will get a single point for a missed field goal like Candian Rules. The following week Loretto get 2 points (safety?) against Collinwood (or maybe 2 single pointers)
  14. My work colleagues who work in Dallas do pay considerably more on Property Taxes than we do here in Tennessee. In fact if you are in the Plano area it is approx 2-3 times greater than an equivalent house here in the Nashville area. The school systems there do seem to be of an extremely high quality regardless whether it is academics, fine arts or athletics. They are also big so maybe they can save some expenses by pooling a lot of students into one location.
  15. Opperman, As you follow the sport far more than I do, I will put it down to bad information I am reading in the papers that revenues have still not reached the levels pre-last strike. As always the media do like to hype things up when there is a potential catastrophe in the making. One observation however, my company have 2 suites at Turner Field which I have used from time to time for customers. I have yet (personally)to see a sellout for a Braves Game and that includes some post season games. I have never understood this and can't decide if it is a) Just coincidence associated with the games I have attended A problem specific to Atlanta or c) An attendance problem with baseball in general. The Braves have been a good team year after year for the last 10-11 years.
  16. Though I don't share all of your enthusiasm for baseball, I do understand that different sports appeal to different people. What amazes me in this current process is the fact that baseball has not yet fully recovered from the last strike and is left to compete for entertainment dollars (and time) with the NHL, NBA and NFL. Surely, anyone with sense would realize that if your sport is suffering a little and that the last thing you can afford is to bicker amongst yourselves and threaten strike for something that is losing mindshare. Like a good business, you have to create the killer product that everybody wants before you demand high financial rewards (Both management and players). All a strike will accomplish is to let people realize they can find other options to baseball and they may or may not come back after it is all over. This is a time to work together to be proponents of the game, get the revenues up and then see how the spoils would be divided.
  17. I can honestly say that I am indifferent to a baseball strike, but for those of you who think you might miss it, here is a website that offers about the same level of excitement. http://www.sudftw.com/paintcam.htm
  18. Don't know if the Church of Christ Schools do things together, but occasionally soem of the other Nashville schools team up. Last year the FRA and CPA Cheerleaders went to summer camp together and did a combined half time show at the Football game. Likewise the DCA and CPA band got together to do a half time show during the season.
  19. Other Church of Christ Schools in Nashville include: David Lipscomb Nashville Christian Goodpasture
  20. I think lazarus does raise one other valid differential on the matter of transfers. Most geographic transfers probably move to the larger cities so any athletic students involved in that process will either find themselves at a large 4A or 5A public school or at a small 1A Private. Most small rural 1A programs are less likely to get an influx of outside talent.
  21. Thanks for the clarification UtahPass. Are there any Merit scholarships that are athletic based for Div II schools? You have shown that Football and Basketball is excluded so I was wondering if that applied to all sports. [Edited by OnlineLC on 8-13-02 5:46P]
  22. What huge numbers of athletes are you talking about tranferring in to CPA? The 2000 team was homegrown from Kindergarten (proven fact). Having 2 more enroll in the school since then from other areas hardly justifies the statement "Huge Numbers". Do you have the same problem with Ezell, FRA, DCA or is it just CPA that is the huge stumbling block for you? All of these schools have kids enroll just the same as we do, some play football and the majority don't. If you feel they all have an unfair advantage then coacht has a special bulletin board to discuss the public/private debate. There are a lot of intelligent posts there on both sides of the issue.
  23. 481, There is no QB transferring from Florida to CPA. The 2 QB's are Travis Sikes and Adam Etue, both of whom have been in the school for a long time. Eric Holt did join the school last year and he is a running back and from what I understand joined CPA beacause of friends. Also as scout points out, some of the reasons for chosing a school like CPA (or Ezell, or DCA etc) over the BA's and MBA's is not based entirely on academics or atletics. For one thing tuition tends to be cheaper and also the Christian emphasis is important to some parents. As parents we always try and make a good fit for our kids based upon many factors. If Jeff Fisher was only concerned about Academics and Football, I'm sure he would have chosen MBA, BGA or BA, obviously other factors came into his decision. To assume the school was doing something underhand to lure his son is totally unfounded.
  24. From what I am reading here, it sounds as if Fisher is a Junior this year. I was extremely impressed with him the other night. Of particular note was his calmness under pressure and his ability to make plays happen when most QB's would either make an ill advised pass or get sacked.
  25. scout, Paul Wade did make a huge difference to the CPA program when he joined us 3 years ago and I'm sure he will be a great head coach one day. During the first 2 quarters last night there was indeed a few problems of MBA making big plays on the outside. Paul obviously made some adjustments because they looked a lot better in the 4th Quarter defense.
