  1. Lemon squeezer are you around?
  2. Thanks RiverdaleMan. It's no wonder that the coaches do not want to post the roster or deal with any of the discontentment. This program is for the players, the coaches do not get paid, the coaches work with players that they do not know, and put time and effort into this. There have been several bashings, on the slections made, and it would not surprise me if the whole program was stopped due to the malcontents. Limbaugh responded last year with a rebuttle to this very topic, and in region 3/4 the evidence was clear that "daddyball" or "politics" did not play into the selection process. I will go a little farther by stating that of the 23 upperclassman selected, in 2007, from regions 3/4, 7 signed DI, 4 signed NAIA, 4 signed JUCO, 2 decided to play football, and 1 was tragically killed in an automobile accident. So, the process must have been sound because these players didn't become excellent players at the TBCA, they already were excellent. Steve Garland, from Soddy Daisey coached the 2007 region 3/4 team and is an outstanding human being. One players parents had to miss the entire game set at Vanderbuilt due to an out of state family illness, and Coach Garland made certain that the player knew how to get home, checked on his status, called to make certain that the player was OK, and made certain that the player was "looked after" while the parents were out of town. By the way, Coach Garland did not know this kid. If that is "daddyball", I wish that there were more Coach Garlands in this world.
  3. QUOTE(MTDirtDog @ May 8 2008 - 03:19 AM) HE HAS ONE DEFINATE STUD RETURNING Please expound.
  4. Bavarian: your words are so true. Lebanon Seniors: good job. You did what was asked of you, played hurt and sick, and the whole lot of you represented the team and community well, all three of you. There is not a doubt that you would be in the "parking lot or asphalt world series" if there were such a thing. Finishing with a winning record, on psuedo grass, is an accomplishment. I will Forrest Gump out of here by saying "Thats all I have to say about that."
  5. We all know what happened, and that is all that counts. Let's continue to keep the way it has been this year, and let the others speculate.
  6. And down goes Frazier! And down goes Frazier! Keep it going Cavs!!!!!!!!!!

    umps?

I echo this response, and say thanks to the umps that have stayed through the grind of a middle shcool baseball game, and hung in there when our pitchers were off, and the defense couldn't catch a cold during a four inning, 2 hour game. I noticed something during a recent game and I respected it after I figured out what was going on. I was calling pitches, from the bucket, during a middle school game, and I noticed the plate ump was checking my signals every time I gave one. I believe it was RiverdaleMan. I wondered why he was doing this, but it wasn't a big deal. I think that he was watching to see if the 12 year could throw the pitch called decently, and this was happening on both sides, so that the young men could learn, and pick up some confidence. I appreciated that.
  8. The state championship, in 5A, most times in any sport, has to run straight through the MIDDLE. Lincoln County, Riverdale, Oakland, Gallatain, etc.
  9. Let's see, .254 batting average, from the great MTCS, and career highlight against Watertown? You are bad to the bone if that is you.
  10. Your math was good and your thought process logical until the last sentence. No, your big boys did no damage late in the game. 6 K's in the last 4 innings. After the grand slam, a run on a passed ball, misplayed fly balls, and a bunt down the first base line to score one.
  11. I am waiting for Mat, The Devil Dawg, to come home. He's done a wonderful job defending our country, and everyone is proud of him.
  12. These comments seem to come up every year after the Riverdale/Lebanon game. The Blue did come back and beat a good Hendersonville team the other night, same M/O as last night, same pitching change, and same basic line up that finished against Riverdale. The difference in the two games was that against Hendersonville The Blue fought hard, remained focused, and finished hard, and against Riverdale, The Blue seemed to loose some steam after the grand slam in the third inning. This is not to take anything away from Riverdale. The 5 errors given to Riverdale may be generous just as the two errors for Lebanon was generous. On Lebanon's side, there was a missed throw down off the top of a glove, a missed third strike, a bobble on the squeeze, and a couple of misplayed fly balls. A previous post was correct in stating that this is high school baseball and no lead is safe. Lebanon aspires to win, and to win consistently, Lebanon must overcome the mental mistakes, gain confidence and poise, and develop a will to win in a tough manner. Again, the difference between the Hendersonville and Riverdale game was due to these aspects. This will come with age and matruity. Again, not to take anything away from Riverdale, as this poise and confidence allowed them to overcome the 5 errors and more than a few K's at the plate. Coach Powers controls the game. He works for every call, every strike or ball, every out, and constantly communicates with each player concerning things right and wrong. Each person observing his actions may call this as they see it. It is, just what it is, and it works for him. Not condoning or ridiculing Coach Powers' actions. Lebanon will get better, and good luck Blue. Looking forward to hard fought game tonight, weather permitting, between Lebanon and Riverdale.
  13. Although my heart lies with Coach Thompson, my loyalty lies with the Blue Devils. Lebanon 14 LC 10
  14. Coach Louis Thompson wherever he has been.
  15. If you are speaking of the 5th-6th grade football team operated at a private school in Lebanon, then yes, most people are familiar with the situation.
  16. Go ahead and schedule a few of us next year and taste it for yourself. I normally don't pull for Riverdale, but go ahead and win it for 7-AAA.
  17. Lebanon will be strong again, same as last year and years to come. Last year a Freshman from TXR came in cleaning 275.
  18. I know that Friendship was run ruled by West End High School Alabama, but I'm not certain about the other games. They only list having played one game and that is not the game listed.
  19. Forrest is a very good team, but Minor and/or Skelley do not, by themselves, equal a sure win. The proof of that is Lebanon 9 Forrest 2 in the WC tourn. Fanchier, Sophomore pitched for Lebanon against Skelley from Forrest. Good luck to all of you guys. Play hard, all of you deserve to be where you are!!
  20. A class group of young men that will go very far in life. Each one of these young men exhibit honesty, loyalty, dedication, toughness, and integrity both on and off the field. Lebanon can be very proud to have been represented by these young men during the basball season, and look forward to their accomplishments within the community in the future.

    Best Hitters

I can't say about the rest of the state but; the two best hitters in district 7-AAA are #10, Blackman's third baseman, and the Burnett guy from Oakland.
  22. Lebanon QB D. Salas and RB C. Tribble.
  23. I agree. Ferrell & Fanchier-the F-Troop. Go Blue Devils!
  24. Slingblade; I let the cat out of the bag yesterday. I've been resisting the temptation all day today, but since you have mentioned our tonight's starter already...... He will be an added addition to the staff after having completed a tour in Iraq; fed homeless children in Mogaishu; and led an expedition in search of D.B. Cooper. I'm not sure that Cumberland can land him though; word is he is leaning towards an offer to become the front man for Bachman Turner Overdrive revival. Go BLUE!!!!!!!!!! Earn it tonight guys. Best of luck to both teams.
