  1. They play 12 games this year, not 11. Thus the chances of them winning 5 again is pretty good.
  2. "denmaster" ? Does that mean you're the "laundry-on-the-field" announcer guy? If so, you might want to paint those additions to the press box. It looks like somebody stuck an outhouse on each end, unpainted like that. LOL!!
  3. Does LHS have the scrimmage schedule yet? (Lavergne, not Lebanon)

No they are not "athletes" during band season, however some of them do track & field and other sports during other times of the year. AND marching practice in July is done in 100 degree heat (not for the undedicated) I am the biggest sports supporter around, coached AAU basketball, etc...however, that doesn't mean having to dislike music. Good marching bands kick butt and deserve respect for the hard work they put in. You go, dedicated musicians!!
  5. I'm not in the band, just a local person. (actually NEVER did march - played rock, blues, jazz on guitar and bass for many years) Oakland's marching show was so good last year in my opinion, but what happened to that jazz band set in the town square at Murf. that day? It was on ch. 10 on cable the other day along with all the other h.s. jazz bands and it sounded as if they (OHS jazz band) hadn't rehearsed much or something?? Is jazz band something they don't put much emphasis on? Not trying to diss any musicians ever - just sounded like they needed to rehearse more and get the guitar players to tune their instruments. Again, not a put down - just constructive advice from a former musician. Looking forward to seeing another great halftime show from your band.
  6. Just don't get the big-head. Those first 2 or 3 possesions in the DC scrimage weren't so hot...play like you're still the underdog instead. Even if you get way ahead in a game - never let up. (I hear the band will be bigger and better too, even with the loss of Joe Medina and a few other "veterans" LOL)
  7. The one at Centennial High? Anybody got a link? What time? Who is on the roster?
  8. so. What are all those bands out there working on? Any cool concepts? I thought Oakland's "Rhapsody in Blue" and Lavergne's "Edward Scissorhands" shows were a couple of the better last fall. I enjoyed the classic rock shows, but so many bands have already done those. Blackman is especially good at classic rock songs but Brighton from West TN did Kashmir and Black Dog (Led Zep), E.L.P., Yes, etc. - it was kick @55!!! Concept shows fare better at competitions if I recall correctly.
  9. p.s. - we don't have a girls program. There are several in the area if needed.
  10. Bryant is a good 6-5, if you saw him standing next to Stevens from Blackman (center in basketball, TE in football who is about 6-6) during basketball, he was about an inch shorter. Adams looked like he is now taller than Bryant, and Adams was like 6-4 a year ago. Maybe some of them didn't look all that tall during hoops because they were out there with a 6-10 guy (Greene) and before that another 6-10 guy (Hudson)...must be something in the water north of Rock Springs Rd. LOL btw - what's up with Yoder? Is he going to play again? Arm ok?
  11. There were times in the DC scrimmage when it looked exactly like an old school 52 from back in the day. Maybe just the way the scheme looked reminded me of the it.
  12. Hard to contain wide sweeps in a 5-2 D set, no? (unless you have Jevon Kearse at D end)
  13. do you realize, that was post #666 - scary - LOL -kidding If #45 is similar fo D. Fisher who graduated, D-line and short yardage RB... it would be a no-brainer for him to fill that role. Can't somebody bring that up to a coach? Sometimes you can't see the trees for being too close to the woods.
  14. Pretty good evaluations guys. It looks like DC should be much better than the 4-7 they got last year with a young team. Right DT is really good, (college prospect in my opinion) the wide-out #5 very good - similar to M. Hicks at LHS last year. 250 pound fullback always nice to have for short yardage situations. QB executed the offense good (looked kinda like the offense Hillsboro ran under coach A. a few years ago) LHS may want to consider putting a few bigger guys on the d-line. If not, they will have to try to outscore everybody they play in a high scoring "arena football" type shootout. Games where the offense doesn't click could be a problem. Some of the backup RB's for LHS were much better than people were expecting. Did Jarvis Hicks play? What number was he wearing? Also Adams looks taller than Bryant now. Is that possible? He looked about 6-6 or 6-7 and 300-something. Gray made some outstanding catches. arod threw a few passes just a split-second late which is why the db;s were just able to close in the nick of time (also give DC's db's credit for hustle) Both teams should be pretty decent.
  15. would make a good forward in hoops at 6-2/185
  16. Answer: don't plan on doing it...so maybe the RHS fans can stop asking for it to happen. If there can be 3 different RHS threads going, then there can be 3 different LHS threads going. RHS fans are like UK basketball fans...read into that whatever you like.
  17. There are WAY too many different RHS threads on this forum? Can't you just lump it all into ONE thread????

  20. No, let's have another LHS thread. What time is the scrimmage Thursday night? I may try to go watch.
  21. Why did he not play hoops this year?
