  1. OK... yesterday Blackman played a very sloppy game... no you can't say the grand slam was caused by the sloppy play but I don't think that was what did them in. I think that giving up runs in the two innings afterwards which streched the lead to I believe 6 did it... those runs were I think unearned or at least 2 of them were... all should have been easily prevented. But you have nights like that. Three home runs and lose a game... not too often that happens. Today was a much better day (no homers) scored 10 in what was a very competitive game. Robbie Cooper went three for three and two of the sophomores stepped up with big plays. And I am sure some Cookeville fan will get on here sooner or later about the umps... listen the kid slid 3 feet past the bag, whether it was intentional or not, and I am sure it wasn't, it was the right call, and it did change the game, Cookeville undoubtedly had something going, but that play would have only plated 1 run leaving a runner on first with one out with Cavaliers down three. Now we could all argue forever about what would have happened but it didn't go that way... Move on and we'd love to see you again in regions... Go Blaze!!!
  2. What a great game tonight at Oakland! First off congratulations Blackman on the huge 2-1 win. Great team play with Robbie Cooper pitching 6 innings with 12 K's, 3 hits and 3 walks. Game went into extra innings with Blackman finally plating the eventual game winner in the 9th. In the top of the 9th, Justin Bowers hit a one out triple. Dylan Myers was then hit by a pitch and Robbie Cooper plated the winning run ny grounding a ball between 1st and 2nd in the hole so there was no chance of a double play. He reached on a fielding error. The bottom of the 9th brought Oakland's McConnell, Dodd, and Parsley to the plate. McConnell flew out to center then Dodd struck out. Parsley then doubled to center before Jonathan Sisco finally got the win for the Blaze. Sisco pitched 3 innings giving up 2 hits, 3 or 4 walks, and had I believe 4 k's. Cody Barrett suffered the loss for the Pats. Way to go Blaze now let's go get the sweep and really start this season off right!
  3. To be truthful MC had nothing or at least threw nothing. I think it was their JV pitchers. BHS has been hitting well and the fielding is solid. They lost Sunday to Independence but didn't throw the normal starters and had 4 stupid baserunning mistakes. So as long as they don't beat themselves it should be a pretty good year the main problem is once again going to be pitching, there are 3 solid starters and there is good depth but nothing really outstanding in terms of complete shutdown pitchers, but the fielding and hitting is plenty good enough to win several games and contend for the district title. Oh, what a way to start the district slate... Oakland tomorrow (away) and Wednesday (home).
  4. Dang, really knocking on Blackman aren't we... I mean come on there could have been a worse team as the 4 seed. Not that I think Blackman is near the level that they were at last year or that they are truly good enough to beat or even come close to Shelbyville without a huge game from Carter and some help from Shelbyville but its possible. After all we did beat White County, and everyone from WC will say the refs had a large part in that game, but when someone, in this case Carter, puts up 42 on you going 7-9 on 3 pointers there is something else going on besides the refs. All this aside, I would say that anyone who picks Blackman would be close to insane, but I'll still be there because upsets happen, if games went as they appear on paper then there would be no need to play the games! Good Luck Blaze!
  5. The Blackman Oakland game really turned out to be a slop fest, Oakland was really trying their best to let BHS get back in it but every time Blackman came within 6 it seemed like the next two possesions ended with turnovers. As for the free throw 2p, Oakland did fairly well in hitting them when they needed it the most, they missed a few late but not enough to allow any major comeback. Now Blackman let's go to Shelbyville and do the entire region a huge favor and knock off the Eagles! O.K. maybe thats a little ambitious but at least be in it at the end and give AC the chance to hit another 3 like he did last year against Shelbyville.
  6. Blackman wins 50-45, a very sloppy game. Cookeville led 22-17 at half but Blackman took the lead in the third quarter and was able to hold on for the rest of the game. Way to go Blaze! Go Get WC tomorrow!
  7. Just wondering, I know Blackman has a game Monday, does everyone have 1 last non-district game?
  8. I have one place to agree with you Morewarriorthanyouwillknow, it is that the refs did let the game get out of hand, that was their fault. And yes there were bad calls, no the refs were not consistent, but a team can't change that a team must adjust to the calls. Ok, I am done ranting now, this is too much in one day!
  9. Did they help Alex's 42 points go in the hole too? And as I have always remembered the #1 team usually gets the benefit of the doubt not the #4 team. WC had 32 fouls because they were fouling, most of them were legit, some were obviuosly blown but was it enough to change 20 points in the game? NOOOO! And the best way to avoid bad calls is to not put yourself into a position to foul. That is what Blackman did, and by the way it doesn't help your case with the refs if for the last quarter and a half, your fans and coaches are all over the refs, and as I remember most of WC fouls (about 15+) came in this time period. And your count of 32 is somewhat exaggerant, you can take off at least 8-10 from fouling to try to save time in the game. But obviously the refs are clearly bias towards the 'Boro, so what happens when there is an inter- 'Boro game?
  10. I never knew that grown adults starting to chant at the high school students because they are ticked at the refs was something to be proud of. As for us having no fans, well obviously your fans recognized us, so we must have done our job pretty well (to annoy the other fans) if the parents are going to get into a yelling match with us. And I'd like to remind everybody that it doesn't matter who had more fans or who's #1, but it matters what the scoreboard says after 32 minutes and last night it read 80-60 Blackman and we are all VERY PROUD OF BEATING WC
  11. I know that WC is #1 for the regular season but tonight we beat you, and yes I really do hope we meet WC again because for one thing it would mean that we were guaranteed to go to region tourney and tonight's game was a very good game up until the last 2 minutes where things got ugly. But that is over now and I would hope the next game would be a little more calm. By the way I believe our response to the We're #1 cheer, it went like this "scoreboard, scoreboard..." /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Any ways WC has a very good team and congratulations on the great season. 24-5?
  12. First off Huge Huge congratulations to my Blackman Blaze and Alex Carter for his new single game point record- 42 points! As for the officiating, everyone is going to say something different. I thought that the majority of the fouls against WC were charges. The guards were using the forearm and some of them were obvious charges while others were touchy fouls. THERE IS ONE THING THAT I FOUND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE IN THIS GAME! No offense to any White County fan, but at the end of the game with less than a minute to go BHS led by about 15 and WC was fouling. This was when the game turned ugly. The WC coach got a technical and the WC fans cheered with obvious sarcasm. Now if you are not happy with the officiating that is one thing, but when a player is clothes-lined once and the shoved into the bleachers, a fan SHOULD NEVER I REPEAT NEVER CHEER!!!!!!! Alex Carter could have been seriously injured by these flagrant fouls and there is absolutely no reason for any fan to cheer about a very violent foul! And in a little bit of humor, I appreciate the WC fans chanting we're #1 to the BHS student section. Congratulations, but tonight we came out on top 80-60, and I hope we meet again in District so we can have the opportunity to return the chant! Go Blaze good luck in district!
  13. Have to agree. The absolute worst half I have seen Blackman play, I mean you can't do much worse than 40-9 at halftime. And to Siegel's credit they capitalized on Blackman mistakes. Hopefully tonight is better, much better!
  14. I am out of town and am not personally close to Alex. I knew him pretty well when we were young but not so much now. And "All Hail Blackman" is part of the alma mater.
  15. I'd Love nothing more than to see our sophomores step up and take Blackman deep next year, my only concern is that BHS had plenty of talent this year and it never came together. The biggest thing is playing as a team. By the way my main concern with the shotgun at the 2 yd line is the snap, if you recall against Overton we were near the goal line and there was a bad snap and we were lucky to score on that play. Mauricio is a talented athlete and has great potential, he was very effective as a runner and his passing game came along as the year went along. Yes he did have many touchdowns in short yardage situations, I was just saying that the shotgun scares me a little more than a dive play, at times it worked and at times it didn't, but the only time Blackman ran a sneak from under center we scored. Still think I didn't watch the games? I guess I'm a fan of of old school pound it out football, but I can learn to like the spread!
  16. Does anyone know why Alex Carter is not playing for Blackman? I heard last week that he was injured and understand him sitting out these tournaments. But does anyone know how seriously he is injured?
  17. Are you joking? the only reason we have won more games is because others have been getting worse. We had all the talent we needed this year, I actually think we will have less talent in 08. I mean when you are on the 2 yard line and line up in the shotgun instead of pounding the ball into the endzone I think there may be a problem. I will always support Blackman no matter who the coach is! By the way, almost the entire offensive line is graduating, as well as key skill players, who knows maybe the sophomore class will step up, but I think BHS will be undersized.
  18. Does anyone know what happened to Alex Carter? He played all of the game against Riverdale so if something happened it had to be in practice. by the way anyone go to the game tonight?
  19. Honestly, what I would like to see for Blackman(even though it will never happen) is Shepherd at QB and have Wallace and Bowers be split backs in the gun. Not saying in any way that Wallace is a bad quarterback. I just believe Mauricio to be a bigger threat as a tailback, and Shepherd a bigger threat throwing the ball. As for tonight just a gut feeling... Blackman 17 Wilson Central 13
  20. Here's the reason Riverdale wins football games this year... They flat out control the clock. They don't score many points but they shorten the game. And when the game is shortened by Riverdale's slow but steady offense then the other team can't score many points. Riverdale 17 Siegel 0
  21. Let's stop acting like it is everybody's life goal to hurt Sonny Grey. Get real. People get hurt in football. Get Over IT! Come to Blackman next week and play a football game with or without Sonny.
  22. The difference in this game is Blackman's pass defense. If Blackman can stop the pass then they probably win. If not they may get crushed. If Sonny doesnt play then I have to say it is Blackman's game to win or lose. Especially after hearing about the way Smyrna's line played against BA. IF Sonny can play then great bring it on. But the kid needs to do what is right for him in the long run. He doesn't need to risk his career in baseball and/or football. He already has a scholarship to Vandy which is worth a lot more than a high school football game. The outcome...(assuming Sonny doesn't play. Looks that way as of now) Blackman 13 Smyrna 9 Should be a great game not quite as high scoring as last year. Go BLAZE!
  23. Blackman's Defensive Domination: Brentwood had only 66 yards of offense and 1 first down. They also turned the ball over several times.(I believe 3 TO) As much as I would hate to beat Smyrna without Sunny. There is no feeling sorry for anyone. Go Blaze! Let's beat SHS!
  24. This is the week that I see Blackman's offense breaking out. We have got to stop killing our own drives with stupid mistakes. The defense is good and solid. Blackman 31 Brentwood 6
