  1. When juggling an actual soccer ball is not possible, hacky sacks might have a place. However, while this will improve coordination, I feel that it doesn't improve touch in a game at all. I think it's something to do for fun, but the value in actual game skill improvement is minimal.
  2. I'm with you on this one. The first half was definitely Siegels, second half, Blackman's. I do think I've seen both of these teams play better games, though. If Siegel's last goal wasn't scored on a missed offsides call, then he was only on by a fraction of an inch at the time of play, which is possible. Far be it from me to say a ref made a bad call--or missed a call completely!
  3. Region 4 District 7 AAA 1. Riverdale 2. Blackman 3. Cookeville 4. Siegel 5. Warren County 6. Lebanon 7. Oakland 8. White County
  4. I don't think poorly called games is limited to Tennessee only, however, I feel that there are just as many well called games that are never mentioned. Keep in mind that, as a general rule, your refs are not making bad calls intentionally. Refs don't really enjoy being heckled, ridiculed, booed, or insulted; therefore, they would rather make a good call than a bad one. Also, unless the ref is using his position to take a little power trip, which does happen occasionaly, he's not going to be out there throwing cards and making unfounded calls. Give the guys a break. They're performing their job to the best of their ability, just as the players are. Most importantly, never, never, never argue with the ref on the field. It makes you, your coach, and your team look bad, and the ref is not going to change his call. Chances are, the ref will remember you next time, and then...well, you know what can happen. It's a lose-lose situation.
  5. Brentwood, Houston, Science Hill, Farragut I haven't been able to see all of these teams play this season. For those of you that have, who's best and what are their strengths and/or weaknesses?
  6. 0-0 wouldn't be a surprise, it could easily go either way.
  7. I'll say it'll be a hard-fought and frustrating 1-1 tie.
  8. TNFC's 90 team(s) are alive and well, I believe. There are other select options available to you, however. Brentwood, MSC, Tennessee United, and Xtreme all have 90 teams that are either D1 or D2. You might look into any of these as a possibility.
  9. Neither, actually. I'm more of a select soccer follower.
  10. That's fine. It's a free country and we're all entitled to our opinions, but I've watched this kid play in high school for two seasons, select for four seasons. and indoor for four seasons. He's skilled, solid, consistent, and level-headed even under pressure, and I cannot count the number of times he's saved someone else's butt out there on the field. He has stopped the 'unstoppable' forewards on opposing teams over and over again. I think someone described him as not a showboat, but a real workhorse, and that's the kind of player a coach needs on his team.
  11. I'm sure that a weekend practice schedule will be worked out in this case.
