  1. Maplewood wins this hands down! FYI -Clarksville may have,as you say, "put a spanking" on Shelbyville as the score indicated but the stats indicate otherwise. CHS had 273 yards offense compared to Shelbyville's 213. Each team had 2 turnovers and the ones Shelbyville had were questionable. Terrible officiating in favor of Clarksville seems to be a rampant theme here as well. Shelbyville held the CHS running game to under 100 yards. The difference in the game was 3 breakdowns in the Shelbyville secondary. Golfendude stated that he felt Shelbyville didn't deserve to be in the playoffs which was a pathetic thing to say in the first place when we are talking about kids who have gone through a great deal of adversity the past several years. It looks like to me they had every right to be there and played their hearts out. Footballfan77 was right - if Shelbyville had anyone that could cover the pass the other night it would have been an entirely different ballgame. If CHS doesn't play any better than that they will be crushed Friday night. Maplewood and Hillsboro are just head and shoulders above them. Go Maplewood (Region 5-4A)! P.S. Golfendude, lose the visor man - the sun was not shining at the game - talk about self aggrandizement!
  2. BigCatDaddy08, you might have laughed a tad bit less and instead paid more attention to the post from davidcutcliffe. If you had done so, you would have realized that the post was not from a Shelbyville fan-even golfendude caught that-sounded more like someone from your own region! Golden Eagle fans don't stoop to your juvenile level nor do we trash talk.
  3. Boxman, I find it amusing that this portion of your comment is almost verbatim the same comment heard yesterday from one of your fellow orange&black supporters. Apparently it is not enough to be satisfied with your own team's playoff berth that you for some reason feel it necessary to knock another team's post-season opportunities. FYI - the Golden Eagles didn't back in to the playoffs - perhaps you might read a good article on the topic: http://www.t-g.com/story/1289086.html How sad that you felt it necessary to come on this thread to voice your ill-informed opinion/insult under the guise of a less than sincere compliment. There are many of us that truly are happy for the Golden Eagles for their major improvement over the past several years and this being only the second year under Coach Hardy's guidance. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> GO EAGLES!!
  4. 51AFBFan, you said yourself that Nick was told even by the Cascade administration that it would be hard for him to be eligible if he transferred. He was IMPLORED by many people at Shelbyville who really care about him as a young man first, not just for his talent, to stay put and not throw away his senior year of eligibility. So why would he insist on going ahead anyway-there is definitely more to this- why would you insist on going ahead when everyone tells you UP FRONT that what you are doing is wrong and against the rules of your association and you will have to face the consequences. Don't blame Don Embry - he is only doing what is required of him by TSSAA rules and regs. Also, he was not the principal in years gone by at SCHS; whatever you THINK happened in the past, is just that, in the past, whether true or not - and it is only being brought up to now try and somehow justify this unfortunate situation. No one from Shelbyville is whining about Nick leaving nor harbors ill will towards him, although many were very disappointed in his decision making. I doubt very seriously if anyone from Shelbyville would even have come on this forum about Cascade, if not for some of you all putting down the school or bashing Mr. Embry. A poor decision was made and now the consequences must be faced and it is very sad-just a shame! I don't think it is fair to publicly delve in to this young man's personal family situation either and there is no way that this situation can be compared to that of Kelby Sanders. Just ask Nick's sister who attends Shelbyville. By the way Cascade 11, no one, and I mean no one I know from Shelbyville is even a tad bit jealous of Cascade -that's just plain funny! You just keep on living in your delusional fantasy world. It is not the fault of the kids who are playing at Shelbyville that the program got in to the shape it did but we still have pride in our school and it's winning traditions and do you seriously think anyone is afraid of Cascade-good grief-what a dumb thing to think, much less say out loud! We have a long road ahead but are on the right track with a great new coaching staff. Whoever said it was right about one thing, Nick did not see eye to eye with the coaches, because they apparently did not give him enough of the individual kudos he felt he deserved. Since when did a high school coaching staff need to bow to the whims of a student, anyway? What would that be teaching our kids? That doesn't sound like wanting to be part of a team effort to me, nor does forsaking your lifelong friends and teammates and as far as getting beat up every week, isn't that a part of football ? How many runningbacks expect to run from sideline to sideline and then downfield unscathed? HOMECOOKEN, seriously, where do you get off saying that Nick wanted to go where they play like a team and strive for a winning season and then say you don't mean to disrespect the Shelbyville players. Give me a break. Rebuilding the Shelbyville program is all about a team effort and believe it or not, a good scout knows a talent whether they are playing for a winning program or a losing one. Are you all also saying that no one from Shelbyville is worthy of being recruited and that no scouts are there to look at any of these players? Get real! You are wrong again. Scouts are more interested in the individual than the team record; at least that is what they tell me. Often times, mediocrity is overshadowed by weak competition and a winning record. Real talent and character can always be found in the trenches, if you know what you are looking for. This is not about any one school vs. the other. This is simply about following the rules. A bad decision was made, rules were broken, there is more to this than meets the eye, and it is a real shame. Bashing another program or a principal is not going to change that-just let it go.
  5. Cascade 11, please do not make Mr. Embry of Shelbyville Central out to be the bad guy in this Nick Batt's situation. Rules are meant to be followed and that is simply what he and the TSSAA have done. If every player that was part of a program that was down or being rebuilt decided to jump ship for his/her own betterment, there would be total chaos. In today's society, it seems that many people, and especially athletes, feel they are above the rules. It is important that TSSAA stands by their eligibility requirements. Nick IS a good kid but it is a shame that he has foresaken his senior season of football with lifelong friends to chase his own glory. He could have been playing at Shelbyville and contributing to the team effort. He would have shined this year in Region 5-4A and gone on to bigger and better things afterwards. And Cascade 11, if you knew much about football in Bedford County, you should have known about Nick's talent and come to watch him at Shelbyville.
  6. Boy, I bet the fans and players are glad to have a new face at the baseball field this year...I'm sure Coach Hall will not be missed from Shelbyville. The attitude and professionalism that was showed at some of the games last year was just ridiculous. I'm glad for Coach Frazier and I think he will take this program to the top.. GOOD LUCK COACH FRAZIER!!! at least you know how to treat the kids.
  7. You can say what you want to about Coach Hall, but he has been seen in action by many screaming, yelling, throwing temper tantrums, an embarrassment to the Shelbyville community. Now, would would you say about someone of that calliber.
  8. Some of you may think Coach Hall is a good coach, but he definiately does not know how to treat his players at all. He has no respect for his kids and treats them like dirt. Just ask a few of his players what they think about him.
  9. Do they have an All Region Team. If so I think there definitely needs to be some changes made to the Shelbyville list. It would be hard for me as a coach to show my face knowing I left off a kid that deserved to be all district that didn't make it. If I'm not mistaken I think this has happen to the same kid 2 years in a row.
  10. My source is telling me that Woods is on the hill for the Eagles on Monday. Saving Brothers for Wednesday. Sanders will be coming in as relief...Let's see how many times they steal base with Stewart behind the plate...Should be a great ballgame..Do you think the weather will hold out
  11. I have not seen all the games this year, but the ones I have seen nobody even attempts to steal on Stewart. His name is out there. It sounds like this kid is not getting the credit he deserves. Can anybody relate to this.
  12. I haven't seen this Spurlock kid play, but I have the Stewart kid. He has a rocket for an arm. His pop time has ranges from 1.8 to 1.9. Pretty amazing for a high school kid.
  13. Did the catcher from Shelbyville not make all District. I think his name is Stewart. He is probably the best catcher in that region and did not make all district. There is definitely a problem somewhere.
