  1. Look at what happened to Region 8! Four teams playing each other while two teams from Region 9 (none of which have a record as good as the Region 8 teams) play each other! TSSAA really blew it this time.
  2. This is insane! You have JCS,Westview,Milan and Peabody (all from the same region) playing one another. Then you have have Booker T and Carver playing each other (same region). Booker T and Carver's records are not even as good as the wild card from the other region. I'm sure youve got this right but the TSSAA has really messed this up. You should never have to face someone from your own region in the first round.
  3. I understand but the projected scenario in the first round of the playoffs would have Westview playing JCS and Milan playing Peabody(if Milan beats Westview JCS and Peabody swap). All four teams are in the same region and playing each other. Then you have BT and Carver playing each other (same region) that have sub records of the afore mentioned teams. In the previous playoffs you would never face someone from your own region in the first round (usually not until the third). Were just happy if we get a chance to go at all. Just thought I'd point out one of many flaws in the way they have set up the playoffs. Maybe they would be better off taking the top 2 teams next year and seed the rest based off of record.
  4. Looks like a win would put us playing westview or milan. Thats kind of crappy! Having to play someone you have already played in the regular season.
  5. I think this whole discussion is way off base. Matt and Bill are good friends. If Matt had stayed at USJ at quarterback you would always have one camp of "fans/press/coaches" second guessing any mistake. If Matt had stayed and Bill was QB the situation would be the same for Bill. I think Doug Hudson stated it very perfectly that It worked out to be the best of both worlds for everyone involved since both boys got to play at QB. We are very blessed to have Matt and his family at JCS, not just for their football skills. It goes much deeper than that. Like wise USJ is blessed with Bill Hardegree and family. I sure any team in 82A or West Tennessee would be overjoyed to have them (including JCS). Matt had a great game Friday but there was nothing wrong with Bill's game. The difference in the outcome was that JCS had a better game plan and executed it. Coach Marley took full blame for this. Something special happened to our team (and our school) last year much larger than winning the State Championship and it continues to grow. I credit this to the players and coaching staff. USJ is vastly improved this year and we took this game very seriously. I'll say again the difference was game/plan execution and the bond of these young men.
  6. I was so happy to see Matt enjoying himself. David Payne had a big night too!! They were saying on the radio that Ethan Cooper had a broken rib. You heard anything?
  7. Actually, USJ's current enrollment would put them in 2A without the multiplier.
  8. Humboldts 2 scores were interceptions in the end zones and returned 100yds for the TD's. JCS recovered 2 fumbles and returned them for TD's, kicked 3 field goals and a saftey. Strange game.
  9. Thanks Jaxman We've been playing ball with Chase since he was 9 or 10. We've gotta great bunch of kids at school and it feels like they are our own. It just hurts to see these things happen. I saw on the other post that the surgery went well. I have to work this weekend so keep us updated.
  10. Jaxman Has anyone talked to Chase or his parents? Hows he doing other than the obvious? My wife and I could hardly sleep last night thinking about this.
  11. I'll second that. Fayette never gave up. They played their game plan and frustrated our offense throughout the night. Gotta go to work. Have a great weekend.
  12. You are up awful early Jaxman! Josh's dog got me up about 5 am, so I decided to go ahead and compile the game DVD. I have a feeling its going to be watched a lot this week.
  13. Is todays game gonna be on the web or any radio stations here in Jackson?
  14. I admit had Doyle not missed the first 3 games due to injury, he would have easily been the leader in tackles. Doyle is leader in tackles in JCS history! Mangrum had a great season, especially in the post season. They all should have made it! Ben Cooper, Cliff Wallace, Greg Wood, Hadley and all the rest of defense were incredible all year long. But the one that did make it had pretty impressive numbers for some one on the line (i.e. not a LB or CB) being doubled up on much of the time as well as good blocking on the offensive side. It is a shame that they weren't all recognized for their contributions, we had so many. They are truly a team. They played that way and live that way.
  15. Had Rainer not caught the pass in the final seconds of the game, small Lake County would have taken you to the woodshed instead of JCS. what would your excuse be then? Go buy some cheese to go with your whine and take this to the public private thread.
  16. I agree. You were a very class team and stayed in the game till the very last seconds. The way the game was played and the way the fans and players of both teams conducted themselves made one thing clear. We were all champions. JCS Fan
  17. The schools get to keep half of the tickets they pre-sell. That's all. Go Eagles
  18. Yeah, It's been great and these young men will always remember this (and I don't just mean the winning). I'm burning your DVD right now. Have to go into work at 7 on what appears to be 3 hrs sleep. Oh well, it was worth it!
  19. What's wrong Jaxman? Can't sleep? I can't either! Too much adrenaline. Seems we are picked as the underdog Friday. We need to keep it that way and stay focused. Of course I'm sure Stew will take care of the focus part.
  20. I have to agree. I can see the difference in these young men on and off the field.
  21. You've done a lot of big talk the last few weeks but are strangely absent tonight Butchie. Is our mouth full of crow?
  22. When my son was playing travel ball (60/70 games/yr), i purchased a program called fixed for $40. It did everything the TAS does and you could even score the games using your PDA (palm pilot etc.) and not have to wag a laptop around. It was easy to use. My wife could do it and she is a blond.
