  1. Congrats! I hope that my Millington Trojans will get a chance to host your Spartans in a couple of weeks. We each have tough games before then.
  2. How can a 7-2 William Blount Team be considered better than either White Station or Millington ( Who are both Undefeated). It is unfortunate that only one of the two aforementioned Memphis teams will get to compete for the State Title. I truly believe that they are the two best teams in the entire state.
  3. The question is.... Will Kamiko even be the best player on the floor that night?.....
  4. Northside did get a transfer from Millington. Asia Minter was a starting guard for Millington before being dismissed from the team midseason last year. It's unfortunate that she wouldn't make the sacrifices needed to be a part of the Lady Trojan Basketball Program. I commend Coach Gat and his Team for not making exceptions!!
  5. For the first time in a VERY VERY VERY Long time...... The premier team in Class AAA could reside in the Memphis area.
  6. Binnis...I mean gaWildcat.... You can't vote for yourself!!! The best HS Radio Personalities in Memphis don't even do Play By Play or Color for games..... They are Mark Healy and Jason Smith. These guys are the most knowledgeable duo in regards to HS Athletics in the Entire State!!
  7. In my Opinion.....The Poll Should look like this: 1. White Station 2. Millington 3. Houston 4. Olive Branch 5. Whitehaven 6. CBHS 7. ECS 8. West Memphis 9. Fayette Ware 10.Fairley 11.St. George's 12.SBEC What do you think??
  8. Using that same logic.... One may ask... How did Millington allow Central to score at all?.. White Station won easily vs Germantown as did Millington vs Central. The final scores are not important. I am pretty sure that the JV squad for White Station and Millington both played a ton this past friday night, thus the scoring from their opponents.
  9. White Station is definitely the best AAAAA team in Memphis. I think that there is probably a group of teams just behind them ( Millington, Whitehaven, Collierville, Houston). The Matchup between Millington and Collierville next week will really tell the story for Millington. If they are able to win at Collierville in impressive fashion, then you might push them up above the group mentioned above and into a class with White Station. It is kinda hard to seperate them from the pack until then because of the schedule they have played so far. They have been quite impressive but, the quality of opponent is a definite question mark. I think that Collierville faced those same question marks going into this past weeks matchup with Whitehaven. Millington 27 Munford 0 Millington 47 Arlington 0 Millington 35 Craigmont 0 Millington 41 Central 14
  10. From what I hear, Coach Dunn is looking at this job as strictly short term. He has his eyes set on getting back to the college level as a DC. Family commitments are the only things keeping here now. Regardless, I am sure his team will get better as the year progresses and his players get used to what he is asking them to do.
  11. The Melrose "D" is very good. Probably the best in the area. The WhiteStation "D" appears to be really good as well. Major Wright is a heck of a coach and has assembled a Top Knotch Staff! The Millington "D" is much improved and could take the trojans from being "Good" to "Great" Only time will tell. Until proven otherwise, Ridgeway is still champ in 7AAAAA. I think that Ridgeway is way way way way down this year, but they deserve the respect of a champ till it is proven on the field. ( It didn't help that Denton transferred to OB).
  12. The Cannon Smith transfer was out of necessity as I understand it. He was ineligible to compete for a TSSAA sanctioned school. I didn't mean to excuse OB for their recruiting prowess. They too must have a recruiting budget that rivals the U of M. Denton and Walls just didn't happen to choose OB by chance. OB did miss out on Eric Watson (CBHS RB). There was rampant speculation during the off season that Watson was going to either be at OB or Melrose. I wonder what changed his mind? He sured played awful in week 0 vs Melrose. I wonder If his teamates decided to give him a nice "Payback" by using the "Ole" style blocking during that game. He fumbled a number of times and totally looked overwhelmed. A far cry from the young man that played quite well as Freshman starting on the varsity team last year.
  13. I really enjoy Jason Smith's work in the Commercial Appeal, but It is ridiculous to have ECS ranked ahead of Olive Branch. If the two teams were to play, even at ECS, Olive Branch would win by 30pts. Olive Branch should be the #1 ranked team in the area. It has been at least 3 years since they have lost to a team in the Memphis midsouth area. My Top 10 would be: 1. Olive Branch 2. White Station 3. Millington 4. Whitehaven 5. Melrose 6. Collierville 7. Houston 8. Fairley 9. ECS 10.West Memphis Notice that I have Whitehaven and Melrose, both with losses, ranked before undefeated Collierville, ECS and Houston. St. George's, as good as they are in their division, would get beat by 5 td's by most if not all of the teams listed in my top 10. CBHS is WAY overrated this year. They are not near the team they were the last few years. It's not for the lack of trying though. They continue to recruit from the public school talent pool at a frantic pace. I am not so sure that their recruiting budget isn't larger than that of the Memphis Tigers!
  14. There are a number of options this week...Both Friday with week Zero games and then Saturday with the Bridges Classic. You are right about Kennedy, He was on the staff under Coach Tommy Harrison at Millington. Harrison was blessed with one incredible coaching staff during his tenure in the 90's. There were 4 future Head Coaches on his staff ( Kennedy, Hawkins, McFerran, and Fisher). What are you thoughts on Bartlett this year?.... I think that in time Armbruster will raise the level of play back at bartlett to where it was in the 80's and 90's. It is going to take some time though. I caught the Jamboree this past weekend, and Bartlett still has a ways to go. I like your Tandem of RB's. But other than that the talent is not there. One of the two greatest HS Crowds I have ever been too was the 1993 Millington vs Bartlett game at Millington. Unreal Atmosphere. Bartlett entered the game undefeated and ranked #1 in Memphis and in the top 3 in the state. Millington was undefeated as well. Millington runs away with the win in route to a undefeated regular season..... Next time you call Coach Harrison's show, ask him about that season and that team.... Millington eneded up losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs (They had a first round bye) to Nashville Strafford. In my humble opinion, Millington shoulda, woulda, coulda won the state title that year....
  15. I didn't get a chance to say anything to Wes, But It was nice to see him. If you remember, He was an assistant coach, and brief Head Coach at Millington in the Early to Mid 1990's. He is a heak of a coach and an even better person. Like MG said before me, The score of the scrimmage between the starters was Millington 20 Dyersburg 10. Scoring looked like this: Dyersburg RB 60plus TD Run. Eric Knowlton 60 plus TD Run Tyrel Garner ( 6'2 215pd Soph RB) 70 plus TD Run. Randon Frierson (QB) 8 yard TD Run. Dyersburg 30 plus Yard FG. Neither team passed the ball well at all. Millington played with out Top returning WR (Mario Justice 6'3" 200 SR). It was a nice way to end the preseason. I am looking forward to Week 1 ( M & M Bowl vs Munford )
  16. Two of the Top Teams in West Tennessee matched up in a Late Afternoon scrimmage. I have seen a lot of talk about the Dyersburg Trojans on the board the last couple of weeks. I would love to hear their take on today's scrimmage. I was there today and have my own opinons, But I would like to see what everybody else has to say.
  17. I think that MW is going to be heading to Knoxville and not Oxford.
  18. I am sure it is the cast of usual suspects at the Jamboree. The one matchup that I am sure is going to take place is Millington vs Germantown.
  19. Add to the growing list of Olive Branch "recruits" Ryan Denton. (who was the starting QB at Ridgeway High last year)
  20. I caught some of the scrimmage as well. Millington looks like they have added a lot size to the core of the team from last year. This should mean big things for them this year. I would have to think that they are the preseason favorite to win their region.
  21. From what I have seen and heard, Whitehaven is going to be really good this year. More than one of their players is going to be recruited by the big boys. The Wr's stock is on the way way up. Date Opponent Details Sat Aug. 25 at Whitehaven Whitehaven Classic Fri Aug. 31 at Melrose Fri Sep. 7 at Daphne Daphne, AL Fri Sep. 14 at Fairley J.P. Freeman Thu Sep. 20 Hillcrest R Whitehaven Fri Oct. 5 at Frayser R Greenhill Stadium Fri Oct. 12 at Christian Brothers Fri Oct. 19 Trezevant R J.P. Freeman Thu Oct. 25 Westwood R J.P. Freeman Fri Nov. 2 at Sheffield Wow the team we are playing from Alabama will be on ESPN2.......... Network to televise football game between Daphne, Foley on Oct. 4 That is a schedule.
  22. Olive Branch Recruit??.... You have got to be kidding....
  23. Travis Simpson 6'0" 220 Sr RB, Derenik Culbreath 6'0" 220 SR LB, and Mario Justice 6'3" 210pd Sr WR. are all 3 College prospects for the Millington. Millington could be the preseason favorite in AAAAA in the Memphis area. I think that jury still has to be out on Ridegeway. (Joe Lee Dunn is the new HC there and It will be interesting to see what kind of impact {positive or negative}he will have). Woodale has a lot of talent returning, but they too will be breaking in a "new" hc.
  24. Brandon Tucker is a incredible competitor and role model. Fayette Academy is lucky to have him. I remember him as a Hard Nosed FB who opened up holes for Millington RB's and then in the same capacity at the University of Memphis. Congratulations on the promotion Brandon!!. I would love to have you on the Staff at Millington!!
