  1. So did anyone get turf? New Stands? Better drainage? Any improvements to their stadiums or fields? What with all the cutbacks I'd be a little surprised, but hey maybe the DII's got something.
  2. Ooltewah Lady Owls scrimmaged McMinn Co. at Redoubt @ 6PM. Due to the heat index they played an hour later and used a mixed play format to prevent overheating. Ooltewah Varsity vs McMinn Co varsity for 30 minutes with a water break at 15 minutes Ooltewah JV vs McMinn Co JV for 15-20 minutes Ooltewah Varsity vs McMinn Co Varsity for 30 mintues with a water break at 15 minutes Ooltewah JV vs McMinn Co JV for ~30 minutes with a water break at 15 minutes Both teams seemed very well conditioned, and not exceptionally depleted by the conditions. Both had good periods of ball possession, and both played tough defensively. Scoring for the Varsity went Ooltewah's way. Both coaches moved people around and seemed to be trying some things, as is normal in scrimmages. No one got hurt AFAIK and I'm sure the coaches will be taking what they saw out there tonight, right back into practice tomorrow. The JV squads played very close and it may have been 1-1 or 1-0
  3. Is this a school funding issue? Heat? Early April Fools Joke?
  4. Isn't Sanchez a Freshman this coming year. She may not have to sit out. Grace has 8th graders on their Varsity if I remember correctly. Heck of a foot on that girl!
  5. I hope and really expect our girl's will out perform that prediction. Tryouts completed yesterday and a summer of conditioning ahead of them to look forward too. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Here's hoping that everyone has a terrific year and our ten varsity seniors have the season of their lives. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  6. From the Chattanooga Times article I only saw the following... http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_96635.asp I guess I totally missed the thing about Notre Dame, why are they are under probation and is this boys soccer, boys/girls or all sports? Can someone give me a link that explains that particular ruling?
  7. I respectfully disagree with this one. I expect McMinn county to give Ooltewah a hard game but will be very surprised if Ooltewah doesn't win this. They may have nearly equal records on paper but Ooltewah has a much higher SOS in my opinion. Anything can happen in a single elim tournament though, so we will take McMinn Co very seriously until the whistle blows and the game is over. Best of luck to both teams and everyone stay healthy and uninjured!
  8. AAA Region 3 District 6 Soddy Daisy 4 - Red Bank 0 Ooltewah 7 - Chatt Central 1 Final 10/20 SD vs Oolt at Soddy Daisy
  9. So what's the drainage like on the OR field? I love a good mudbowl! Slogging thru mud can actually negate a speed advantage.
  10. www.tssaa.org does have a feedback function on their home page. Option two allows for feedback on officiating. Never having needed to use that function, I can't say what response you will get. Hopefully you have film and/or the names of coaches and or other officials that witnessed this refs performance and prior actions that will support your statements. Hate to hear about things like this.
  11. No idea, but really they are supposed to play unless there are dangerous conditions. Danger usually involves lightning or in one case my Senior year, running water that swept the ball, and nearly one player, off the field and into a flooding stream. Our girls are supposed to play at Soddy, Tuesday night. 90% chance rain today, 80% tomorrow. For those that don't know SD's field is in a natural basin. We may have to hand out swim fins, but hey both teams have to deal with the same conditions.
  12. Personally I don't mind low scores: Well executed attacks and defense are equally challenging and enjoyable to watch in my opinion. Soccer + Snooker (English Pool) = Snoocker (sounds like a drinking game ) 15 small agility/touch training, type red balls 1 Yellow Ball Size 4 1 Green Ball Size 4 1 Brown Ball Size 4 1 Blue Ball Size 5 1 Pink Ball Size 5 1 Black Ball Size 5 Point values for object balls: red-1, yellow-2, green-3, brown-4, blue-5, pink-6, black-7 Then you can add rules about Black can be shot only from outside the penalty box. Pink and Blue from outside the goal area. You can add bonus points if you can get eight or more reds in one goal before they can clear them. Sounds a little freaky and you may need additional rules: Require the goalie(s) to clear balls from the net in a certain time period or risk more points being added (especially black, pink, blue). You sort of need a score keeper if you care about actually keeping score. Deal with the fact that those red agility balls may go right through your netting Played this once at a college, and it was madness but fun madness.
  13. Just a question from a parent: How late or at what point does a coach have to submit a final roster to TSSAA of all girls that will be eligible to play in post season? Our coach last year decided not to bring any JV players up to Varsity and carry extra bodies into post season. Starters got hurt, injured, couldn't play and one just got sick; if I remember correctly . He ended up with quite a short bench of substitutes. I was just wondering if there is a TSSAA rule about finalizing your roster before post season play begins?

You gotta give props to a 69 scored/1 allowed though. They may meet their first true competition this year at regions. Best of luck to them!
  16. I apologize that this isn't about dist 7AAA standings but I did have a question about Tie breakers in a district... I've wondered about this as it seemed to work otherwise in our district (small with only four teams) Try this on an see where you think the tie break went. Oolt beats Central 2 - 0 Oolt beats Red Bank 5 - 0 Soddy D beats Central 3 - 1 Soddy D beats Red Bank 3 - 0 Soddy D ties Oolt 1 - 1 Head to head tie Same record against district opponents Same score differential (max counted diff is 3) .... There was no coin flip AFAIK. Soddy got the Home field based on the more goals scored on Central, as I understand it. I would have thought giving up a goal would have counted against them. Oh well they played really well and we will see them again in the District playoffs, I'm sure.
  17. Helped take Baylor to the State Finals last year as a Freshman.... yeah she's that GOOD! She was the Goalie for my daughters 8th Grade MS team (Hunter went undefeated that year). She's a great kid! Hope she heals completely and as quickly as possible.
  18. Soddy Daisy 1 --- Ooltewah 1 Both are 2-0-1 in District Points diff seems to give SD hosting Home field Adv. for the District. Scoreless 1st half 2nd half Score by SD Kelly Downs 2nd half Score by Oolt Morgan Shelton/Katie Finkle
  19. From the chattanooga times article Hixson Ties Notre Dame in District 6 A/AA Soccer Game posted October 3, 2006 Hixson surprised the undefeated Lady Irish of Notre Dame scoring a second half goal to tie the top ranked A/AA team in the state 1-1. Notre Dame's Jaimee Cooper scored Notre Dame's only goal and Andria Aurand scored Hixson's goal. Notre Dame out shot Hixson 20-7. Hixson is now 7-7-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the district. Notre Dame is 11-0-4 overall and 2-0-1 in the district.
  20. Does ND tying an unranked A/AA team in thier region impact their standing? Just an off night or does #2 in A/AA move up, all other things being equal? Just wondering and congrats again to Hixson, must have played a heck of a game!
  21. Extreme Kudos and Congrats to Hixson. They have really improved through their season and this looks positive for them peaking at the right time. Here's hoping the Lady Owls can do as well on Saturday vs ND! I know it will be a tough and physical game and now the Irish have something to prove, darn it!

That win against BGA and close score with Siegel should put a little respect into anyones estimation of them. Best of luck to both of you in the tournament.
  23. Now that we know who has 'em are you planning to host a AAA JV state championship tournament DonCChatt? Seems like they should get something for all their hard work, besides a promise of Varsity play in some hoped for future season. BTW just wondering... Do other schools let Seniors play on their JV squads?
  24. Sweetwater still has to play Tellico 10/03 which looks like a given with their record. NOTE Euro shows them as 4-0-1 with no score on a CSAS game on 8/29 (is that a make-up/rainout?) Grace still has McMinn Central 10/03 which they should win IMO. NOTE that Euro shows Grace at 2-1-1 in district not 4-1-1. Boyd doesn't show any more district games on their Euro Sport sched. Sequoyah shows they are done in district CSAS is done McMinn Central plays Grace Tellico plays Sweetwater so unless there is a big upset in those last two games they should finish the way you have them. Best of Luck to all!
  25. Ooltewah AAA has a JV - 2 JV freshman are also on Varsity, one injured I think. They have played or plan to play JV teams from: GPS Cleveland Notre Dame Soddy Daisy McMinn Co. Boyd-Buchanan Bradley Co.
