  1. "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19) "There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way; whoever hates reproof will die." (Proverbs 15:10)
  2. That's a lie..... No player is shooting 65% from the floor and 70% from the three point line on the whole season, lol. Malcolm Smith was averaging over 24.1 points a game, 10.7 boards a game, was shooting 200/327 from 2pt range (61%), and had shot 14/20 from 3 point range (70%) prior to the Jo Byrns game (11 pts) and the East Robertson game (33 pts). I don't know whether or not that man is a liar since I don't know him, but he's right about the stats.
  3. One quick question Just because NCS is a Christian school does that make them better than everyone else? Thank you for opening a door. The Word must be spoken, because the Holy Spirit burns within me (Romans 9:1). If they are a Christian school, then those students who profess to be Christians should walk as Christ did on this earth (1 John 2:6) and keep his commandments (1 John 2:3-4; Matthew 22:36-40). That means putting to death everything that the rest of the world does- all anger, wrath, malice, slander, obscene talk, sexual immorality, and anything else that is contrary to the Law of God (Colossians 3:8; Romans 1:18-32)- as they humble themselves (Proverbs 15:33; Zephaniah 2:3; Phillipians 2:8; Ephesians 4:1-2; Matthew 23:12) and are transformed by the renewal of their minds (Romans 12:2; Colossians 3:8-10) as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). In short, they are not better than anyone else, which is a terrible thing because Christians are not to conform to the rest of the world (Romans 12:2). Christ's Word is not taking this out of proportion. Christianity is not a game because there are many who will die without knowing who Christ really is and they will be cast into the eternal fire (Revelation 14:11). We must test ourselves to see if we are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). Now that his Word has shocked you into life, everyone: we must stop conforming to the World, we are leading people astray. This Word is being written because I care for you not because I hate you; this goes to say for all of you. I am not on this board because of a game today, I don't want anyone here to fail to know who Christ is and l don't want people to believe that slandering each other in a basketball game is True Christianity. This may very well be my last message on this board, and I don't know why God has placed it on me to write this message. Whatever happens it is for the glory of the Lamb who was slain. This is a message to any of us who claim to be Christians or do not know anything of Christ. I will not keep silent for his sake (Isaiah 62:1)! You will be angry, that's what the Truth does to us all, to you and to me. To some, Christ's Word is foolishness and is a "stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense", but to others it becomes and "is the power of God to us who are being saved" (1 Corinthians 1:18). His Holy Spirit will teach you all things if you let him. I am just a vessel, so give glory to God.
  4. CA has had a few guys step up in the past weeks in terms of scoring. I'm not so sure they have reached their peak yet, which is scary to say! They have done a good job of playing team basketball and distributing the ball. Yes, Malcolm Smith is a baller and so is his brother, but they score so much because their team sets them up so well. Their point guard, Travis Russell, is really quick, has good ball-handling skills, and is good at getting open looks for other guys off the dribble. He's a pass-first type of point guard, but he gets his looks in the games and can shoot the 3 really well when he is on, along with having a solid midrange jumper. He's a very coachable player, gets better every game, and is a great kid from what I hear. Heith Dyer is a good shooter and has a pretty decent handle as well. He puts a great deal of effort into his play and is a solid rebounder. Martin Crozier, a shooting guard/small forward, has stepped up a great deal, going from nearly non existent earlier in the year to being a lights-out 3 point shooter. Don't underestimate this team! They are physical on the inside, can drive to the bucket, and they can shoot the 3. When you've got these elements, you've got at least a decent chance to beat anybody on a given night if everything is clicking. Not to mention, they played a great Ensworth basketball team neck to neck with the difference of the game being in a big 3rd period for Ensworth. The final was 98-82. CA scored more points against Ensworth's men's team than any of the teams Ensworth has played in games this year, which includes Clarksville Northeast.
  5. CA-90 HC-53 -I wasn't at the game, so I would like to hear from some of you guys that were present this evening about what happened to cause the score to become so lopsided. I had heard Houston County had been playing better team basketball since Cooksey had left. Were there many uncalled fouls that should have been against CA's side? If there were, did the no-calls make much of a difference? Seeing that CA made about 10 3s in the game and had five players in double figures, I would think they wouldn't have. But I would like to hear some stuff from you guys that were at the gym tonight; some eye witness reports. Grace and Peace!
  6. I completely agree. I wasn't there, but I would want to see the supposed dominant team in the district have a chance to be proven as the dominant team by great refing and great, disciplined basketball on the team's part.
  7. Well, from reading the article in out of the Leaf Chronicle this morning about Clarksville Academy getting a big victory over Waverly Central, this year's team is going to be "high flying." There were 3 dunks in the game, two by Malcolm Smith and one on an ally oop to Martin Smith. Malcolm's dunks came on a missed shot by Heith Dyer with a put back and the other came on a breakaway. The team also shot well behind the arc in making 8 3 pointers, with Dyer making 3, Malcolm making 2, Martin making 1, Miles Barger making 1, and Russell making 1.
  8. I would have to agree that both are good point guards, but at this point in the season it is hard to justify who is the best. Clarksville Academy played a Northeast team that has all of the tools to repeat the State Tournament in 3A; as for the Dickson County team that Houston County played, I can't say very much about them. What I can say is that it's hard to compare a State Tournament caliber team, who blew out Dickson County by 30 points each time they played them, to a team who is coming off of a 7-19 year. Northeast's pressure is drastically different than the pressure received from a team that has not made a State tournament appearance in several years.
  9. Does anyone know the final scores of the games that have happened tonight?
  10. I don't know why, but with all of this conversation I have a feeling that Summertown is going to win.
  11. I just wanted to thank the guys on Clarksville Academy's basketball team for their hard work. Even though I am in college right now, I was able to come back to my school and enjoy the experience of you guys going to state. You guys all have a lot of heart. Work hard, since I want to see you guys back in the boro next year. You've got the stuff so keep it up!
  12. AAA- Bearden AA- Livingston Academy A-I feel like this tournament will have a champion that is contrary to what the popular vote claims to eventually be (Manassas/ Humboldt); however, I don't know who. All I know is that I have seen teams in the tournament this year that have similar athletic ability (Temple, CA, Grace Baptist). -If in the future I am wrong, I grant permission for anyone to diss my post.
  13. With both districts going 2-2 in the region so far and looking forward with match-ups between Clarksville Academy-Cascade and White House-Heritage-Eagleville in the semifinals, how does everyone think these two games will pan out for each of the teams? I see Eagleville beating White-House Heritage by at least 10; the Clarksville Academy and Cascade game I am not so sure about.
  14. Well, we have at least two representatives in the region semifinals so far in White House-Heritage and Clarksville Academy. I wonder how Houston County did?
  15. Clarksville Academy is up 26-19 over Forrest at the half.
  16. As a former student at Clarksville Academy, I am just going to have to flat out say it...BEAT THE ROCKETS COUGARS! Good luck to both teams.
  17. How did Spurgeon do overall in this game? I was wondering if conditioning would be a huge factor after coming back from such a long time off.
  18. It sounds like it was an excellent game. This is exactly the way a tournament game is supposed to be. I do see some light for both of these teams with CA having a monkey off of their back and Houston County looking really good going into the district finals. It seems like our district may fair pretty well come region time.
  19. I am interested to see how NCS does tonight. They have really improved ever since the beginning of the year and I remember that their head coach said he felt they would be ready to compete when tournament time rolled around. If the way they have competed over the past few weeks is any indication, he could very well be considered a prophet by the end of this school's contest tonight.
  20. Wisdom isn't measured in number of posts.
  21. I also wanted to ask anyone who may have seen this game how the Russel kid was?
  22. Congratulations to the seniors at CA and the performance they had tonight. I was not there, but apparently CA made 16 3 pointers and scored 96 points, the most points scored in who knows how many years for this team. Good luck in the tournament.
  23. Does anyone know what the final score of the CA-JBHS basketball game ended up being?
  24. I would definitely have to agree. To add to your statement, this team not only has a pretty good starting five, but they have developed depth throughout the year with players that can come off the bench and help the team out. You have to credit players like Crozier who can come off the bench and make a few 3 pointers when you need them and the guards that sub in who can bring the ball up the court and play solid defense. You've got Malcolm and Martin, but then you have their older brother who is improving every game and is doing a great job of giving some extra inside presence. This team is deeper than many people try to think.
  25. I will not rule out the possibility of an upset since they have happened before; however, the Academy has beaten a pretty young, but talented, team in Sycamore and have shown a lot of will and determination as of late. When the #1 team from Class A district 10 goes over to play the #2 team in Class AA district 11 on the road and beats them by 27 points I find it hard to say that the team from class A will be upset by a team they beat earlier in the year, especially when it was at a time where they had not yet peaked in potential. I know WHH is a much better team than they were at that time as well, but because of the caliber of competition CA has endured (3 games against 3A and 4A schools from KY and 3 against 2A schools in TN) I would have to honestly disagree and say that CA gets the win. I wish the best of luck to both of these teams, and let the best team win.
