  1. Does Houston County have some really great players moving up or something? They had a very competitive team last year, but they just didn't have enough to really make a run.
  2. I've heard different things from the guys on the team. Some say they think he'll play when it comes time. All I know is that his main goal is to go to college, and that basketball is secondary to that. This guy definitely has the ability to play at the next level.
  3. Malcolm Smith-Clarksville Academy Sam Porter-Clarksville Academy
  4. Thomas Leamon of Clarksville Academy is getting some looks from SEC schools from what I hear along with other D-1 schools.
  5. If you think that cheering shouldn't be allowed in the dugout, then you should tell the Vanderbilt baseball team that. If you watch one of their games, you will notice that everyone on the team is standing up in the dugout and cheering on their teammate when they are up to bat. Cheering in the dugout is important because it also loosens up the dugout and the players performing, making them not afraid to make a mistake and adding fun to the game. When you take away the fear of making a mistake the players perform better. Baseball is a mental sport and cheering is part of both keeping a players mental state intact and helping them enjoy the game.
  6. They tend to be rude. The worst thing I saw was after the District 10-A final when the tournament awards were handed out. I saw very few of the NCS fans, except for the parents of the students, show any respect whatsoever towards any of the players who earned the great honor of being considered some of the best players in the district and going out their giving their all. I know it's nothing personal from their fans, they're just fans who want to win like everyone else, but they have to learn that when the game is over, It's over. When it get's to the point where you lose respect for a person because of the team they're on is when it becomes a little pathetic. So fans shouldn't stop having fun, they should just have the respect added in when it's needed. Even if I want my team to win a game and I see a fantastic play from a player on the other team, like a slam dunk, I tip my hat to those guys because not many people have that ability that early on in their careers.
  7. I would say that the region tournament will have at least one blowout, but most games should be good one's since it is the time in the season where upset magic occurs. One possiblility of a blowout could be the NCS-Cascade matchup. If NCS gets on fire with shooting the 3 and Cacade doesn't block it out of their minds and slow down the tempo of the game they will lose big. The Van Buren-McEwen matchup shows possiblity of a blowout, however this game shows the upset magic with McEwen riding high after a big win over East Robertson . The Eagleville-East Robertson matchup is actually a decent matchup. Both teams have guys who are athletic and can get the ball to the hoop, but what could make this a possible blowout is Eagleville's size. Eagleville's Lillard has the ablility to rebound and score, creating a possible mismatch in this contest, but not if East Robertson's Woodard can help it, he just may have the athleticism and ablility that could help overcome this. Lastly, the CA-Forrest matchup is a good one, but if CA gets rebounds and get's penetration with Porter and company this could be a huge loss for Forrest. Forrest's ablility to overcome their lackings with great hustle and desire to win could also make this a decent game, and possible upset. All of these matchups look promising and I can't wait till Saturday when the tournament finally begins.
  8. Who in their right mind, within this decade, would ever post a comment saying South Pittsburg "stinks"? I'm glad whom ever posted it deleted it.
  9. Actually, you have made a very good observation here. The four games they played in Florida aren't accurately reflected in their schedule strength. Because they are not accurately reflected in their schedule strength, no one can accurately say that NCS has the 100th toughest schedule. From what I hear, the teams in Florida, like McClay and others, are very solid basketball teams with a lot of size in their inside game.
  10. Clarksville Academy played Sycamore last night and lost 63-45. Clarksville Academy should have played this game closer, and it was fairly close until Sycamore was able to go on a couple of runs towards the end of the first half. By the time CA was able to slow down Sycamore it was too late. I credit Sycamore because of their outstanding athletes, especially in Pierre Mitchell and Chase Kilgore. It would have helped if CA had Malcom Smith back in this game because instead of having an 18 point deficit, they could have played them close and possibly beaten them. This is a good game for CA to play because it gives them a taste of what they are going to need to do if they want to make a run in the district tournament and regionals if they go that far. Hopefully playing the likes of this competition becomes a hugh catalyst in bringing this team's play to the highest level it can go by the end of this season.
  11. I would like to see Nashville Christian play teams in 2a and 3a, like Bolivar Central and Raleigh Egypt, to see how they match up. I don't think I have ever seen a team as good as NCS at shooting the three pointer, and under pressure as well. A team that averages nearly 10 or more 3 pointers in a game could beat anyone around when they are hot at shooting, which seems to be every game for this team. It would not surprise me one bit if Nashville Christian ends up in the State Title this year (and playing against Union City too, it should be a great game if both teams make it.)
  12. If the big guy you're thinking of is Leamon, they aren't losing him. It will hurt them after next year though because he does plug up holes and really lays the lumber on people.
  13. Albright is definitely a special player because he has a great talent for shooting the basketball, especially from beyond the arch.
  14. I was looking at the playoff matchups coming up for the semifinals in 2A and saw that there is a possibility, though small, that two region 5 teams could face each other in the Championship this year. DCA is facing Alcoa, an excellent football team that could run away with that game, and Goodpasture, of course, faces Peabody. Have two teams from the same region ever squared off against each other in the State Championship? (I apologize beforehand for the possibility that this could have already been talked about)
  15. If ya'll keep putting up 75-80 points a game ya'll will definitely have a shot at the winning the district(maybe even state). So far, I am extremely impressed by the athletes that are on this year's Clarksville Academy basketball team and if I were the other teams in the region I would watch out for them in the years to come.
  16. I am thinking that this will be a very emotional game for both teams that have found themselves come so close to going to the State Title the past couple of years. I feel that both are excellent teams, and in this meeting I am going to pick Jo Byrns. This game could easily go either way, I think it will come down to who wants it more and who wins it in the trenches. Both teams have athletes that are dangerous with the ball in their hands and both are strong and physical up front on their offensive lines; look for another exciting matchup between these two teams. Jo Byrns-28 Mt. Pleasant-24
  17. I don't know if he can defend five people, but he can score against five people.
  18. Just wait until you see this kid play...he is good...very good.
  19. Man, I didn't even know it was possible for it to get that ugly after only one half of football. Most of the time when something like this happens the team that wins leaves their starters out there longer than they should, but from what I hear South Pitt. is, top to bottom, one of the best teams in 1A.
  20. I think clarksville academy has really improved, but the other teams in the region have really improved as well.
  21. Even though it isn't a very difficult looking first few games, it is a good thing that their coach did schedule easy games early on. If you get a couple of wins early on it can get a team fired up and give them a mindset where they think "hey, maybe we can compete". I notice that the way their schedule is set up, they have a great chance of getting a few more wins because they scheduled their games in a way where they can get their confidence up. Since they have passed all of the confidence tests they have to see if they can pass the next test which is playing out of their minds in such a way they will win and make it to the playoffs, and who knows they could do it. Forrest is an excellent football team and I think they could be a sleeper this year and have a chance at competing for a region title. This could be a very, very good game if Nashville gets some turnovers and keeps the Forrest defense on the field, otherwise it will be a blowout for Forrest. Forrest- 28 Nashville Christian- 24
  22. I agree with you, it is a team effort. I just think they would play better as a whole with Potts as the quarterback. They started the season with him so they should end the season with him, unless his play is not at the level Coach Finley feels is necessary.
  23. I agree, there really is no sure fire way of making out who will win this game. All I know is that it's always close when these two teams play each other. You really can't know what teams in the region, like Riverside, will bring to the table in a game like this until it happens, especially when Riverside has played the likes of playoff teams Camden and Lexington.
  24. Unless the Cubs get Potts back at QB, they won't stand a fighting chance. Even if they do have him, as athletic as he is, it probably won't be enough to beat a very, very solid Lipscomb team. Cheatham has to rebuild after losing the likes of Joey Beech, Cory Randolph, Kevin Elliot, etc. while Lipscomb just reloads year in and year out. Lipscomb- 56 Cheatham- 13
