  1. Actually 49-7! Cloudland with the win! Holy WOW.
  2. Just got a report that the Lady Landers was up 30-5
  3. Anyone know Cloudlands game time and who they play today?
  4. Great win and all that got to watch this and actually stayed after half time, got well their price of admission. Great job Landers players and Coaching Staff. Not so good job so called Lander Fans. I bet their was less that 200 Cloudland fans there to support these young men on in first round Playoff game.
  5. Maybe see ya if you come to concessions King. I'll be behind the counter serving up sodas and hot chocolate.
  6. Looks like Ole Pace is gonna be tuff to contain. From what I've seen I'd rather see him throw the ball than take it and run. He's pretty slick on them feet. Not really seen much on his receiving core. But if they can get open and catch the ball they could put up some points. I feel that we can score with them. Maybe we can ground/pound and keep the ball out of the QBs hands and control the time of possession. Any way should be fun to watch. Whatever the outcome I just say to both teams, Leave it all out on the field and give all that's in you from opening kick off to the final buzzer. Seniors this could be your last game as a Cloudland Highlander. Be proud and show leadership to them younger fellers. Good Luck Landers and safe travels for them Harriman folks. Days like today reminds me of the old days when I was walking the Halls of Cloudland High(1991-1994)on Football Fridays, and us with a Home playoff game. Nuttin like it then and stills feels the same today. A lil different in those years teams and these past years team, but still High school, Highlander Football. Can't Wait. Looks like the Man above has blessed us with a beauty of a day.
  7. Im gonna go ahead and admit and say shame on me. I chose not to go to the Game last night because in my mind we didn't stand a chance. My bad Cloudland football team and Lander faithful. that's prolly the first Cloudland\Hampton game ive missed in as long as I can remember. On the other hand WOW what a showing by the Home town squad. According to all the talk on here and in Roan Town early this morn and going on now, we played our tails off all 4 Qtrs. Unlike Avery game. Whew that was a real tuff one to swaller. Any way I know that from reading on here that we made some mistakes at a crucial time in the game and Hampton didn't play up to par. Kinda hit n miss from reading both Coaches comments following the game. For us just to play like we did with a Hampton team that has been destroying pretty much every one they play, is a major boost for our team and Coaching Staff. Its something we can build on for next weeks game. No matter who the team is or what their record is. No matter if it is Homecoming. Its not always a gimmie. If we can play like that every play for the rest of the season will only result in good things. No matter the Win Loss record at the final snap. They will know they gave their all at least the last half of the year. And no regrets to look back on from last night on. Good job Landers and Coaching Staff. Also hats off to the way the game was played and handled last night with good sportsmanship on both sides of the field. Like I said im going off of from reading on here and family and friends talk. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise I will be there next week. And if anyone is interested we could get back to some good ole cooking before the game.
  8. If we can control the line of scrimmage, run the ball right addum to control the tempo and the clock I think we be fine. But if we let them throw us with their speed out in the flats and us being very young in the D backfield then it could be a lil higher scoring game and give us some problems. The Vikes D have allowed just under 900 rushing yards in 3 games. Watauga's RB Suggs ran 5 TDs last week against Avery. But according to the paper Watauga's line was the big player in the game. Avery has right around 400 yards rushing in their 3 games so far this season. I know all this is just numbers and what really counts is when there are 11 on 11 out there on the turf come Friday night. That's why we get so pumped about talking about it and watching the game. Im gonna say we come away with the win tomorrow night but could be closer than some might think. We HAVE to play Physical tho.
  9. I'll be honest, when I walked up the steps and onto Orr Field last night! I had a bad feeling about the game. I watched our team going through pre game warm ups and I seen 5 plus young men in slings, braces, casts n such and I got worried. I mean C Mon we are a Small 1a team up here as far as you can go in East TN. We just couldn't afford ANY injuries this year! Especially on starters and season ending ones at that. After the first Qtr I was still a Lil worried that their short passing was gonna beat us! Even tho our pass D with fresh young men startinh was better than I expected. At half time I still wandered if our boys could get their first W of the season! Then in the second half itbseemed that our line started plowing ways for those backs to run through, passes started to land in the right hands and I really believe we had a couple young, big men to realize that its ok to hit. I seen a Lil momentum and excitement in those Landers actions and that was huge. I seen our coaches running the sidelines and clapping and high fiving which was a great thing for us all! Players and fans. I seen a couple young running backs they will have impact in Future Cloudland Ball teams. That game is behind us now and was good for them boys to experience, but now its time to look towards Monday and get to work on what they need to do to beat The Vikes of AC! I know one thing they, AC don't like to do and that's hit. From what I've heard from Avery players when they played Hampton, they don't like getting hit. Good job last night Young Lander squad. Hang in there and work hard. It'll pay off even if you was to lose the rest of the games of the season. Its contagious from one player to another. Seniors step up and help these young fellers along day in and day out on and off the field. BTW, I hope the Oakdale players that got hurt last night are ok! If possible I'd like an update on these young men from you Eagle fans. Those fellers faught hard all night. Win or lose its all about the kids.
  10. So I was right, That was 2001. That SP team was no push over for sure. The O Line we had that year just plowed holes I could have crab crawled thru. And with the backfield we had then was pretty dangerous too. I was looking earlier at the TSSAA State records and Ole Shelly(EH QB) still holds a lot of passing records and JUST so happens to be in the era of us getting them in the Big Game. Oh well, everything happens for a reason.
  11. Never mind I was way off on the year! Lol! I'm getting too old
  12. Ha! I remember that game on Orr Field well. One of my favorite all time. I remember the QB from the visiting team actually clapping for our boys in that game. Was that 99 or 2000?
  13. Is The Injuns, Coafeild and GP really that weak this year? Surely they won't let Greenback beat them by no less that 3 TDs!?! I'm just asking!
  14. NO BODY, stays within 3 TDs of them? I'm not gonna argue that they could prolly manhandle us but I just don't see them beating every team Reg season by even 18! Maybe I'm way off but that's just my opinion.
  15. If our backs are healthy, our O line can open up holes for them to run and HV has NO passing game then we win! Lol! That's a lot that's gotta happen for us. But home field advantage with more excitement and a winning attitude in the air, we stand a better chance than most think. Cant wait to watch the game and also see that Hicks Young Man play, even tho I wish he was on our side.
  16. Not really ready to pick this game. Not sure about what the Warriors have this year. I do know that if they still have the "Real Warrior" the Hicks kid then he himself could make it tuff for us. I feel that our heart and effort is for sure there this year. And after reading the Star write up I'm hoping for good things from our line. Hope our RBs are back to full speed come Friday night
  17. Yeah I seen the cramping online. It seemed like the later end of 3rd Qtr was full of it. Was the fumble and us recovering a bad call in second half? Doesn't matter now and I'm not laying blame or trying to make an excuse! Just wandering what it looked like live! That couldve been a major turn of events and boost of momentum for us.
  18. Anyone know bout how many players NV dresses out for Varsity? And did most of them play both ways tonight or do they have a 1st String O and 1st string D of fresh players every change of possessions? Not trying at all to make excuses! Just wandering because I'm sure most of our kids went both ways most of the night. Makes a difference round bout 4th Qtr. I heard SM mention on the Voice of the Highlanders Live tonight that it looked like NV had a whole slew of players on the sideline. And yes I know only 11 can be on the field at one time from each team. But a fresh set of legs means a lot after you have played the whole game. Btw anyone got some stats from both sides! Sounded like their QB is their strength. And sounded like a Heartbeat was ours. Just my opinion tho. You Landers Coaches, players and fans have a safe trip back to RM and keep ya heads up.
  19. I really don't see Sanchez stopping McClain even in the first Qtr! If he was lead tackler last year and they rely on him to stop the Ground Pound then he could have a long evening. Just out matched! This is just my opinion tho!
