  1. Coalfield made it to the Big Game. Not any team they have played in 1a this year. Win or lose it is a great experience for those young men just to get to go and if that entire team feels as if they are beat before they even get on the bus then no they prolly shouldn't go. But any of us on here know better than that. That Coach will prepare them as if they can win just as easy and UC could mentally and physically. And should do so. I know the only time we(Cloudland) made it to the big game those boys caught til the last min with Ezel Harding even tho we was out manned, to a team that beat us pretty good on the scoreboard. It was an experience that I'll never forget as a fan and I'm pretty sure those boys on that team will never forget. Yes we would've rather won and brought home that coveted Gold Ball. But that didn't happen and now in 2014 we are Still Cloudland and need to look at the game ahead and carry on the rich and strong tradition every day on and off the field. Those young men can't help who is put out there to guide them in those games but they can work on it in the off season to better prepare themselves for the next day in life whether it be The Great game of Football or just life. Thats what its all about is life's lessons and learning from them, respect, discipline, prompt and when its all said and done who is really in charge. Good Luck Coalfield. Enjoy every second of this great accomplishment because before u know it yall will be walking across that stage and getting that diploma and some going on to College and the rest well Life begins and you will be watching from the sidelines next year and it will hurt.
  2. Job well done Jacket. I know your proud of your boy and that whole team, staff, fans and community. And for good reason. Good luck next week. I hope hope the Jackets bring back the well earned Gold. I'll be a rootin for y'all up here in Lander Land.
  3. Not taking anything away from the Jackets at all but, ARE U KIDDING ME? Coming from a Lander fan and knowing how we didn't show against Coalfield when we played and what could've been! Any way Congrats guys! Hope u bring home the Gold!
  4. Prayers from Nole in Roan Mtn. Actually I'll put her on prayer list at my Church on Sunday morning. If that's ok
  5. Ha ha. Yeah and there are plenty of them that you will never know. Got a new lil boy now. Lives in NC around 1 year old. Nephew of Pujo. Little ball of lead too. I get to See him at Church from time to time. We might not pull for Hampton or get along with that pack from time to time but I myself like Lil Jerry. Good kid, hard worker and earns anything good that he gets. He should be a stud next year. Enjoyed getting to hang w him, 91's boys(well 2 of them) other one didn't wanna miss B ball practice, and Jonesy!
  6. Ha! I hear ya. He mentioned that he was having some trouble with his Toyota Friday evening but finally found something to fix it. That's why he was running late. Seemed to be a good kid. I say kid cawz he was bout 10+or- years younger than me. I enjoyed getting to meet you guys tho. I'd liked to have meet ole Spike as well. Hh
  7. You wouldn't like it up here Raven. Unless it be that u wanted to take that Yota off roading. We could arrange that for ya. By tha way, did u get all the nuts n bolts put back together on your ride?
  8. Sorry fellers but I've gotta try and put some meat in the freezer for winter. Havnt got to Deer Hunt the first time this year. So hopefully I'll get to go Friday eve and Sat morn! U guys kept me out too late this morn. Lol. Nah I had a good time and hope that I get to make the trip to Cookeville with youins. I wouldn't mind going to see the Jackets play. But then again I'd prolly just get ticked that I know that the Landers couldve been playing in the Semi's just as easy as anyone. When we heard the final score last night on Radio I ask one of the Lander players what they thought about Coalfield winning and he said he would rather not talk about it. Not taking anything away from Coalfield, they won and we are practicing B ball but we could've won just as easy as we lost. Any way next trip I make with that pack I'll bring some Rook cards and show Ole Pujo a couple tricks.
  9. They are strong and actually kinda impressive standing right beside them but I'm gonna go with Marion Cnty just because I'll take a team that can beat Trousdale because that's a feat in itself and they must be able to play some ball and to survive TC you gotta b tuff. Just my opinion tho.
  10. Carter County has talked consolidation of some of the county schools for a while now. Its been brought in to public hearings more than once and will probably happen eventually. Its been a big topic on this thread of how good of a Football team that school could have. Both schools are due either a huge upgrade or new school like within next 5 years or so.
  11. Well there you are Papaw. I thought you had give CoachT up as a bad habit. Good to hear from ya and for the most part I agree. We(CHS,HHS) can play with local teams and some a little more west but the farther ya get down the road the less likely a win. But nuttin at all wrong with those kids willing to put in the hard work in off season training. That's one thing thats not coached. Either ya got it or ya don't. But when 3-4 works hard year round and the other 25-30 wait til the first day of Summer practice then it hurts the team as a whole. Dont get me wrong I appreciate the heck out of the kids that train hard pretty much all year. Work ethic is hard to find these days seems like. Or maybe its just in RM. But ya never know next year could be Dawgs year to make a trip to Cookeville.
  12. Hey 91 y'all still loading up the wagon and heading to the reservation Friday about 3?
  13. Yeah buddy! Nuttin like like late night Waffle House. King I know it might be a while but we have some good looking ball players coming up through Jr High and down. Should be an interesting year coming up both Girls and Guys.
  14. Ha. With the Holiday season coming up I'll be sliding right up under the table for more than one plate of cobbler n fixings. We are blessed that's fer sure.
  15. Aint that the way everyday life goes Uknoit? I mean I'm sure u can remember your boys playing little league and seems like a couple days go by and boom they are in HS and graduating! That's the way it all seems to me any way! Don't seem like long ago when I was helping Ole 91 coach his youngest boys B ball team in Elementary school. And now here he is watching his oldest play his senior year. I was just thinking the other day how it would be awesome to watch his 3 boys play B ball in same game in HS but don't guess its gonna happen. I'm not talking about 91's boys but kids just dont appreciate the time, effort, work and $ into their kids playing sports. Especially youins with 3 or more playing something year round. Hats off to all of you parents, grandparents, guardians..... Any one that puts this time in these kids(young adults). I'll go ahead and say "Thank youins". Ya know not all kids have that luxury. I'd say 99% of y'all on here know exactly what I'm talking bout.
  16. Well Jacket I can bout guarantee ya that u won't have to wrap her up like u did last Friday. Ha. Your pops was covered up with a blanket plum to his head. But y'all sitting on that old cold hard concrete couldnt have been comfy. That's not the only reason I walk the fence but it did help keep my feet a lil warmer and closer to the game.
  17. Yeah I was thinking he wouldve ended up with around 100-150 in rushing by games end. Before the game started idda bet 150-200 easily in rushing. Good hard nose runner
  18. I'm thinking and hoping that some of those young long legged Landers step up this year for us. There is a couple of them that are very talented and capable of carrying this years squad. We will just have to see. Can't wait to watch them. I'm not counting out the upper classmen by the way. Just wanna see them young ones step up and be a big part of it. They could help us out Big Time. I know one of them that I am pumped to get to see play. He is a baller.
  19. Wow 4 picks? I was thinking only 3. Any way 1 is bad buff especially in a big game like that. And yes I know these boys are still young and only human but 4 picks in a game is in heard of. I'm not and have never been a QB but I did see a Lander receiver down the field alone waving his arms to get the pass more than once. No excuses coming from Nole, just stating the facts. At one time I remember one of the fence crew saying that we had help Bible to 19 yds on 13 carries. That is a feat in itself. I'm thinking that was at halftime. Although I know a couple of his big runs was called back due to yellow laundry on field. Also on a positive note I thought our little ole line done pretty good against the Future Vol player. And the stiff arm from our QB needs to be on a highlight reel. Maybe Channel 5's Hometown Highlights. Hope our guys hold their heads up. High School Football is a game and a GREAT game at that and we up here in RM hate losing but these boys need to hold their heads up and prepare for the next step ahead of them. They have far more huge feats to overcome in their lives but with the right leadership, respect, guidance, drive and attitude they can do whatever they desire. This is just a small step at a time to a long stairway leading up. In more than ONE way.
  20. Sounds good 91. That's what I'm used to riding. Ha. Yessir Orngnblk 1 time as one of our boys was trying to get in endzone.(sloppy handling of a cold slick football) Then again on about 8-10 after a good momentum building drive after the half on about 8-10yd line.(this one came more from Coalfield on D)I'm actually thinking it came in 4th. But it happened and its in the books. Can't take any of it back. Did get to meet Jacket and 34's grandpa and enjoyed that.
  21. I might just hop on that train Friday evening if you have room bud. I'll pay my part in gas n grubs. As long as your boys are going. Ha. I Love those younguns. Just makes me miss mine tho. Any way just let me know if u have an extra spot. Text or call me if u need
  22. 1-fumble 1-fumble on their 8 yd line 1-int 1-int 1-fumble on their 1 yd line 1-blown coverage pass play +1-TD off of kicking after us big score = End of season for Highlanders Coalfield won the game fair and square and no excise from Nole but we had it to win but I guess we felt like we should go ahead and give them their Christmas gift(s) early. Cloudland beat Cloudland Friday night in 2nd round of TSSAA playoffs. Don't get me wrong tho Coalfield guys wasn't chumps. They played hard and will be playing next Friday night and we won't. Thanks Landers especially the Seniors for the season and for your hard work and dedication to the Highlander Football team and community. The game last night wasn't the last one you will play. Even if u never play another sport. Everyday life has its big tackles, interceptions, sacks, TDs, fumbles, losses, and yes BIG wins. So go out there(world, life)play hard every snap, give it all you got, always look up and no matter the outcome NEVER be a loser.
  23. Thanks Jacket. Good to meet ya and good luck to your son. Hope y'all have a safe trip home. And no you don't need to hang it up after this year. Gotta stay on here to chat with us.
