  1. I definitely agree with that. You have to see how you measure up to good teams. I just dont see that you have to travel from Evangel to take on DeLaSalle in Concord California. I think some good rivalaries can be made in neighboring states like when Valdosta in Georgia plays Tallahasse Lincoln out of Florida. Thats big time without getting thier heads beat in by the likes of Long Beach Poly or Southlake Carroll. I think what Herbstreit did in his challenge is really cool but its even better because the schools dont take on all the costs of the trips and thats what i think hurts the schools is the costs. How cool would it have been to see Maryville at the Herbstreit challenge though? I have a lot of respect for that program and would be interested to see them play one of those teams there.
  2. High school programs dont need to play on ESPN to get noticed or be on MTV, for scholarships, who cares. On the first season of Two a Days none of those kids got D-1 offers. They were decent high school players who won the state as a team but not individual world beaters. One kid went to to Furman but not because of MTV. Repete couldnt get a sniff at college, ends up walking on at Auburn then quitting.
  3. Rebels you are exactly right. The Head Coach opened his program to all this scrutiny and the kids are paying for his arrogance. I wont commit on any alledged wrongdoings because they have to be proven first but i will say that top programs do not have to "prove" themselves nationally by playing out of state teams. This is high school football, not the BCS. I bet Southlake Carroll is seriously regretting bringing Miami Northwestern to town and ending their 49 game winning streak. What you do in state is all that matters, why do think Maryville and South Panola have yet to take on other USA today teams. They dont have to.
  4. I have heard of Billings brothers at Munford and I can tell you now, the entire region needs to be worried about these two LBs. They are the dynamic duo.
  5. GOOD!!, its dropped, lets kill the thread, get in the weight room, blow the whistle in the fall and get after it. PEACE!!!
  6. Well, well here we go again, the correct remark to Coach Gaddis after the game was "as#****" because Gaddis did not exactly enjoy getting his pre-season state championship team beaten by the stepchild of West TN. He was completely unprofessional in displaying his displeasure and trying to avoid the handshake after the game. Several faculty members were there celebrating on the field and witnessed it all. End of discussion.
  7. "EXCUSE" is the appropriate word here as it seems an entire one-third of the state is looking for some "EXCUSE" for losing to sorry ole Munford.
  8. 5 Months, 5 New Coaches, 4 Transfers, 50 Attitude Changes, 8 Wins, and 1 Region Title later and we still can't accept the fact that Munford no longer has its neck under the foot of the rest of West TN. Munford's the Champs, PERIOD. Don't like it? Get better coaching.
  9. Congrats to the Patriots, from Munford, good win and continue to represent this region well as you face Hillsboro next week.
  10. Hey B, great analysis, you sound extremely knowledgable of the game. I'm sure that Gaddis has the tapes for this week but in the Memphis paper they wrote that Melrose put in a new offense this week. What did they do that was so different and helped them score more points than most of there other contests?
  11. Yes, you heard it right. Money was spent but things change, principles change, attitudes change, presidents change and winning does not mean as much anymore at a school that wants its emphasis placed elsewhere. This poor guy walked right into a situation with a foot in the grave on day one. Athletics has taken a back seat to other academic and theological pursuits, and thats fine but as a coach you're paid to win and if you can't, you teach and let someone else handle the football. Although you would be hard pressed to find a miracle worker that can win under the conditions set at Briarcrest now. No scholarships, practice restraints, academic restraints and overall and administration that just wants to give the kids "something to do" after school.
  12. Oh man, can't wait to see this one. Brighton really likes to run right at you pretty good. They ran up and down the field aginst the only game i saw against Sheffield, who is pretty good. I dont know if Munford can handle a power game like this one with those athletes at Brighton. What do y'all think?
  13. Dominique Allen and Calvin McNairl, DT #58, Henry Co Hunter Deberry, WR #4, Hardin Co Tavis Hogsett and Gavin Hardin, WR #2, JCM Jerry Jackson, Tommy Henderson, Coutney Madison, Munford Deaundre Williams, Brighton
  14. WHAT DO YOU THINK NOW ABOUT THAT REGION CHAMPS... WHAT ABOUT THAT LOCK WE HAD ON LAST PLACE!? THEIR BACK & HERE TO STAY.... GOO MUNFORD!
  15. Ignorance rears its ugly head again. Perhaps we're suffering from amnesia of the past 9 seasons of football up in Munford, TN. They have not had a winning season in those 9 consecutive years under numerous coaches. Was it the players? the coaches? the administration? the community? who knows? Simple fact is they couldnt beat anybody consistently. Munford finally has the luxury of having a coach with a couple of rings on his fingers and a parent has the nerve to question the manner in which he received them. "ACT LIKE A COACH" Wow!!!! I think what needs to be REMEMBERED is the fact that this TEAM has numerous players who contribute but ultimately the best players play. I refuse to believe that a coach who has averaged 10 wins a year for the past 8 years has not taken the time to get the best player on the field and win a FEW MORE GAMES. Perhaps you would be happier losing to Southside and Jackson Northside as long as your boy got to play and wear that pretty jersey on the field. Nevermind the losing, nevermind the humiliation, nevermind the scrutiny from his peers, nevermind not having the privlege of being one of 32 teams playing in November, nevermind the consequences of never being a part of winner in life, nevermind facing adversity and becoming a man, as long as your boy gets special attention and Coach Randall loses and gets sent down Highway 51 with the other numerous losing coaches. All would be well in your world. P.S. Munford Touchdown Club does a great job for those boys on the TEAM
  16. That tailback and wr who transferred to Melrose were gone because they were staring down the barrel of sitting on the bench for ten straight weeks because 2500 yards of offense was in front of them in Cameron Boga (Starting tailback at Cumberland) and Cassius Vaughn (Cornerback at Ole Miss). Bottomline, control was always in order at East but it seems today that theres this "I want my own guy" disease going around with all these new principals in the city school system, principals who dont know the first thing about winning on the field or in the classroom which is evidenced by their schools academic progress, teachers filing for transfers, (50 at East) (30 at Kirby) as well as the "guy" they bring in to replace good coaches losing their ######. Ex. East 0-2, Kirby 14 game losing streak, Hamilton 0-2, incidently the Head Coach at Kirby is now 0-23 as a HC dating to that stellar 2004 opener at Westwood in which he walked off the field at halftime b/c he was down 42 -0. Its clear that theres only one direction these principals want their programs to go. [/b]
  17. Wow, its funny how loosely we throw that dollar $ign around. Everyone thinks they know the real story. I DO. I'm in the room. Rumors, innuendos, and flat out self-serving lies are thrown around to advance certain peoples agendas. Its funny how this person wanted to take HIS program into a different direction. Congratulations, toast to success with a resounding thud vs. Wooddale last week. Additionally, how did they fare against the Cardinals last year? Different direction? Oh yea!!!!
  18. Munford could have trouble coming off a heartbreaker against millington, i don't know if this team can bounce back. They lost every game they played last year when they were down after a second half loss. Why should this year be any different?
