  1. Of Booker's yardage, 90 yards was on the one break down the field for the touchdown.
  2. What cost CA the game to Stewart County was a 15 yard penalty that allowed Stewart County to tie the score near the end of the 4th quarter. Without that, there would have been no overtime, and CA would have won the game. BTW, CA deserved the penalty, but that was a costly mistake that led to the one loss.
  3. CA 79 McEwen 56 Congratulations Cougars
  4. That is easy; I don't need a calulator for that. The percentage is 0%. I'm going back to CA's regional game.
  5. Let's throw in some statistics to this accusation against 5510. I have just read 20 of 5510's more recent posts. Out of the 20, 5510 has complained about the officiating in 13 of the 20 posts. In particular, 5510 has complained about the refs calling CA games in 12 of the 20. This means that 5510 complains about referees 65% of the time, and in particular, about officiating over CA games 60% of the time. Let the stats speak for themselves.
  6. The reason you do not see scores from regular season with CA beating opponents by 30, 40, or more points is because in many of their games, the second and third teams have played 25% - 50% of the game. I am very proud of Coach Smith for not running up huge leads on the opponents; we at CA know all too well how that feels. In addition, there have been many CA games in which all team members dressed out have been able to play. I know there was at least one regular season game where every single boy on the Cougar squad scored.
  7. I have been associated with CA for 10 years, and I can tell you two things. First, we have never had refs "cater" to us. More often than not over the last 10 years, if anything, refs have been prejudiced against us. This season, I have seen some refs be inconsistent, but that inconsistency went both ways - one minute they would call it tight and the next they were allowing the boys more play. While I cannot speak for other private schools, I can tell you that CA does NOT recruit players. If we recruited players, we would be up at the top of every sport on a frequent basis. The Smith family brought all four of their boys to CA about six years ago. It was a blessing but not recruting.
  8. CA over Huntland 63 - 34, or something like that
  9. Then you know that for many of CA's games players off the bench have often played anywhere from 25% to over 50% of the game with most, if not all, of the starters on the bench.
  10. CSAS versus CA was a very enjoyable game to watch, and not just because CA came out on top. It was a well-played game both ways. The officials allowed the boys to play, but when they did call things, they called it equally on both sides, which is something we do not always get to see, so it is very much appreciated. CSAS has a great team, and #4, in particular, is an excellent player. Their fans are classy, too. They wished us luck before we played Wednesday, and our students were impressed to have some of their fans congratulate us after the game today. I left M'boro with a good feeling not only about our team but about our day's opponent.
  11. Another quote from today's Leaf-Chronicle; it is from the article "Clarksville Academy uses tenacious defense in 14-point victory" I encourage you to read the whole article. In the four Class A state tournament quarterfinal games played on Wednesday at MTSU's Murphy Center, only one team scored more than 55 points, and no team shot better than 45 percent. Clarksville Academy and Oliver Springs each shot 45 percent in their respective quarterfinal games. Clarksville Academy, the state's No. 1-ranked team, beat Wayne County 54-40, while Oliver Springs was knocked out of the tournament with a 50-44 loss to Grace Baptist. Knowing offense alone wouldn't be enough, the Cougars placed a premium on rebounding and defense, and executed both to near perfection.
  12. Good Morning, As I read this morning paper (The Leaf-Chronicle), I thought about this, so I thought I'd share the opening of "Cougars Get the Job Done". Quote from the article: MURFREESBORO — It wasn't pretty. It wasn't perfect. It wasn't even typical Clarksville Academy basketball. But a win is a win, and Cougars coach Josh Smith will take it. Have a great day!
  13. Quote from today's Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville: Wayne County (20-11) tried desperately to get its star shooter, Tyler Rice, into the flow of the game in the second half but Heath Dyer's suffocating defense on Rice forced the Wayne County guard into difficult shots outside his range. Rice would finish with 12 points, half of which came in the fourth quarter as Wayne County scrambled to close its double digit deficit. Heath fouled out late in the 4th Quarter.
  14. You didn't see me running down Westwood....I wasn't running down CA either... Giving an opinion and running down someone are two very different things...Don't be so dramatic... Okay....in my opinion your opinion sounded as if you were running them down...just a bit. I'm sorry if I offended you. You didn't answer my question, though. Were you in the gym today. It seems you are going by what was on the radio, but I was there and saw with my own eyes, and sometimes that makes a difference. I've got steaks on the grill, so time to go away for now. Have a good evening.
  15. If it was number 11, then that is Heath Dyer. He fouled out very late in the game. He has excellent defensive skills. I was not paying so much attention to who was guarding whom, but if you can give me the number or a physical description, I may be able to tell you who it was.
  16. I'm curious Purple & Gold Standard. Were you even at the games today? If not, I was there to see each team play except the last two who were paired. BTW, I remembered where I had seen your posts before....four days ago you were running down Westwood. You said they had no depth and would not be a threat to Humboldt....similar to the way you were running down CA earlier today; however, Westwood was almost god-like to you today. You're making my head spin.
  17. I will give you that....based on today, but Friday is another day.
  18. Did the boys from CA play as well today as I have seen them play? No. Many more shots were missed than should have been, but they should have a better feel for the gym and the baskets now. While we are talking about missed shots, it seemed as if about a third of WC shots were air balls....they did not even bounce on the rim and come out. Was Wayne County effective in steals? Yes. CA will need to make better passes and get good control of the ball before taking off down the court if they want to continue. Were the Smith boys in foul trouble? Yes, but it was not because of anything they were doing. All those two had to do was get close enough to breathe on a player and a foul was called. If it had really been called equally both ways, despite turnovers and not hitting the percentages CA boys normally hit, I am guessing it would have been about a 15 - 20 point greater spread. Heck, this might work to CA's advantage. The next team to play CA may underestimate the team. One thing is for sure; CA did not get the number of wins they have because they stink.
  19. 10A District Tournament Game @ 5:30 Game on 2/19/20 Clarksville Academy - 60 East Robertson - 36
  20. Way to go Cougars! There truly is next year since you are a young team. CA was the only Class A school in the state tournament who had not been to state before, so you have gained that experience. You will know better what to expect next year, and I fully expect to see the team back in M'boro next year.
  21. # 10 in you Class A Loser list, Clarksville Academy, just happened to make it to the Final Eight , and they are going to STATE. Sounds like big time winners to me. You missed that call!
  22. The link for Clarksville Academy is incorrect - it takes you to Clarksville High School http://www.clarksvilleacademy.com
  23. Saw the game. Given the difference in the size of the schools and the age of the players on each team, CA has the better team. The score of 21-14 in favor of WHH does not reflect the game played. If you want to talk about turnovers, it takes a good team to force turnovers while not having them.
