  1. I say you go 3 divisions...drop the multiplier Closed (all schools that have closed zones) 3 divisions. Open (all schools with open zones or privates who do not give financial aid) 3 divisions. Privates (private schools who give any financial aid to a student-athlete) 2 divisions. Have fun with it, if you wish...
  2. I would take either Rankin from Alcoa - he has an impressive resume Rusty Bradley from CAK - new upcoming head coach with a dynamic system that would attract players. someone may want to check me on this but I think Rusty Bradley played at BA while his dad coached at vandy. His dad coaches with him at CAK and would probably travel with Rusty. So it would be a two for one deal.
  3. maybe you should define qualified... I am sure a bunch of people would have different views of qualified. example in point...Jerry Cook was the HEAD COACH for a football program for 10yrs+ yes it was middle school, but does that not count for something? Then had a chacne to move up did so and has been on staff for 4 years or so (someone will have to check me on these time frames) I guess you will come back with the idea that it was youth league football and if that is the case we know who the idoit is...the fundamentals of running a program are the same, granted on a bigger level, yet still the same. 11 on 11, tackle, film, scouting, coaching fundamentals, and hoping to get someone blessed with talent in your program. Look at any level of football the things that make a great coach are the same, just like the things that make a coach fail are the same (as far as coaching goes). I am sure or at least I hope that the people in charge try to find the best fit! The most qualified person is Adams from Alabama...but is he the best fit? Do you really want to hire a guy who may only coach three to five years then hang it up? Is that a good hire because he is the "most" qualified? Sometimes you have to get into the grey area to hit a homerun...without sitting down with all these guys and seeing 4 to 5 years in the future it really is hard to hire the "right" guy...but I would not want to be the guy who passes on a hometown guy, only to go watch him be succesful somewhere else. (all this to say I am glad I have no part of the hiring, it will be fun to watch this playout)
  4. having played my football at Rhea County I understand the passion of players and fans. When I moved to Blount County after graduation back in the day I wrote off Rhea County football. It was a long drive and the 90's was tough to stomach. I have tried to stay away, but seeing Fitz. step aside I decided to get back on coacht and see how everything shakes out. It is really sad to see most of the programs in despair, like it or not that is an admin. situation. This is my imput not that you asked, but from an individual who graduated from Rhea, played at Rhea, and have followed football my whole life. I would 100% back Jerry Cook and only Jerry from the list of candidates. (played for Ryan, not a fan) If you read between the lines most of the others, if hired will be gone in a matter of two to three years. (you can book that!) Rhea County like it or hate it is a special place, and it takes an individual who WANTS to be there to stay there and do what is best for the program and not for the resume. Rhea has put some really good coaches out over the years. Why again would the admin. not choose Coach Cook? Personally, I truly hope they give the job to the guy who bleeds Green and Gold and will do whatever it takes to get the program back. Having said that, I am sure the at the end of the day egos will win out, the new admin. will continue the pursuit to destory Rhea County as it was, and football in Rhea County will see the dark ages again. I hope only the best for the new coach and his staff, the players, the parents, and the fans. Until then I will enjoy watching Maryville and Alcoa pump out state champs from the cheap seats...
  5. looks like central may be on the up swing...Allen has them going in the right direction and with cook as the d cord they will play fundamental football. Someone told me that they left the potential starting QB at home, because he was late! that will get your attention everytime. Good Luck Pounders.
  6. so when is stanton going to be announced?
  7. A bunch of old men riding round on horses, while attempting to stab a sword/spear in the ground...nothing good could come of it, but hey who am I to stop from watchng some carnage take place. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Now for the goods...who is the player this year who steps out and becomes the player to watch....
  8. Will Rockwood do their "wanna be" Alcoa chant during stretches? GP by two TD's
  9. Had a chance to check out this game last night. I agree the refs did not have a good game, but I feel that they blew calls on both sides! Also the ejection I think was because the player had two personal fouls, anytime a player gets two personal fouls in the same game he is ejected. It was a pretty good game and goo dluck to both sides as they enter the playoffs!!!
  10. Sounds like an interesting thread so who's playing in the game??? Mustang vs vandy are those starting QB's or wide outs, my bad the old guys who stand at the fence and *@^$h about the coaching and officials
  11. Sweetwater wins big or at least by a couple points....The wagon is moving and #10 in 2A state sweetwater has plenty of room
  12. Agreed I only hope it is a close game...... CAK45 Loudon 21
  13. eye saw myne after kutrina eye as well acidentaly piked up a player or four for da bank poor guys needen to play futbal sumwear.
  14. My heart is with the Owls, but I think it is hard to beat the same team twice in the same year when they are both equally coached and with equal talent. I hope you guys over at the nest prove me wrong. Because there is still pleanty of room for the red and silver on my wagon leading to state! Farragut by 3
  15. won tyme I found me won them there possoums own a haf chell. Could not four thee life of me feagure how to eat it.
  16. SERIOUSLY, you maryville and Rhea county people need to grow up! Both sides are acting stupid at this point. let the whole thing die. Fans, Refs, etc. everyteam has their good ones and their bad ones. Let's just try to enjoy a great game this friday between two great teams!!!
  17. Sticky Fingers en racks what u doin before thee game? If'n n you wanna me and thee bowys can putta summp'n on Ole' grill. Ifn when you come up in your garbiage truk bringin them animurals you sea on side of rode.
  18. u murvil folk knedd to come eurly it gonna be paked! gearonteed. RED BANK BY 6 Jump on there is pleanty of room on the Black and blue wagon!!
  19. We do not need to count chickens or eggs, red bank rolls big! 38 to 7
  20. NO! You bowys in Rhea cannot win the big game and the LION train keeps on rolling, jump on board before you are left behind. Red Bank has too much speed and too many play-makers for the eagles. Ta-Ta will have a huge night friday. Red Bank will leave no doubt. Red Bank 35 Rhea 6
  21. I think the bank will continue to roll all the way to the show, Cleveland will slide in at a close second with Hixson and White County finishing out the region. And as far as Brainerd I went to the Rhea and Red Bank games (vs Brainerd) It look like Brainerd lost some of their players and had way too many mistakes aganist red bank. It seemed like they turned the ball over four or five times to red bank inside the red zone (or close), you cannot do that and be succesful on any league!! And Rhea did not look good at all in the Brainerd game.
  22. Unstoppable line??? ask the owls how unstoppable it is! You guys in evensville need to dominate more than one game before your heads get so big!! Corvin?? has he even made a tackle this year, man where do you get this stuff from! Soddy has a good defense and you better not be overlooking them or it will come back to bit you.
  23. Rhea has some players, but until they get the soddy trojan off their back I'll pick the Big Blue. When was the last time Rhea beat Soddy?
  24. Please, Maryville is unstoppable and you know this!!
  25. I was wondering how Baylor looked?
