Becci took 3rd in the state. Chalifoux won the state and finished 8th at the Prep Nationals. Elkins beat Becci at the state to finish 2nd and did not place at the Prep Nationals. You had to either win the state tournament or finish runner-up in DII to qualify for the National Prep Tournament. Becci was not eligible. Please quit making foolish statements.

Idiot alert!!!!!!! Becci could not go because Chalifoux and Elkins went at 120 lbs. Also, it does not matter where you are from as long as you go to school and represent the same. This is a team tournament for private schools. As for having wrestlers from other states, this occurs in Tennessee as well.

Great job by all of these programs for having open night at their schools to encourage more wrestling during the off-season. This has been going on in Chattanooga for some time.

State Duals are as follows: 1.) Baylor 2.) Father Ryan 3.) MBA 4.) McCallie 5.) All of the others Baylor has proven they are the better team twice this year. If weights are changed and wrestlers wrestle to their potential, things could change. At this moment, Baylor is the #1 team followed by Father Ryan. If teams change their line-ups during the consolations, #3 and #4 could change. It would all depend on how important they think it is finish #3 or #4. I could see line-up changes at this match if it occurs.

The Chattanoogafreepress reported tonight that UTC will be cutting the Men's Cross-Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track programs to get in line with the Title IX. This is not good for UTC or for male athletes in these programs or for the athletes in the state in high school. My concern is that this does not creep closer to the wrestling program.

They have a big match next weekend against MBA and Father Ryan and the coaches did not want to risk further injury at Brentwood. They did not have the option. Why do you continue to talk as if you are in the know. This was not an option for the wrestlers. They were held out due to injuries. Two of them sustained injuries at the Prep Slam and the third was held out of the Prep Slam due to an injury. Do you think the Prep Slam was optional for the third wrestler? Soms, Why did you not cover the issue a couple of years ago when UTC gave a wrestler a 2nd chance and he blew it? If I remember correctly, it was barely covered and you certainly know the individual. If it was not covered then, then this incident should not keep coming up.

This is great that some schools will broadcast their matches live for all to see. Thanks to all of those who broadcast the matches for those of us who are unable to attend. I do not know what it cost to broadcast these types of events; however, I do know it cost money. Maybe you can get somebody to sponsor the event to allow those of us who can not attend still see the matches. There was a parent from Siegel who posted the finals from the Beech Tournament on the internet for all to watch. I know from watching that McCallie and Cleveland show matches live. Who would have thought of this 10 years ago. What a great tech advancement for all.

There was a situation a couple of years ago where Coach Heath gave a wrestler a 2nd chance and they stepped over the line again only to be removed from the program. Great weekend of wrestling this weekend in the Chattanooga and Cleveland, TN area. You have the McCallie Invitational and the Bradley Invitationals. Both tournaments have quality wrestlers which should prove to be exciting. Best of luck to all this weekend and hope the wrestlers wrestle their best and come out unharmed. This area is the mecca in wrestling for the state of Tennessee and this weekend should provide all wrestling fans a great opportunity to sample the best of the best. Get out this weekend and enjoy some great wrestling.
