You might not buy it, but you're certainly smoking something good. It's wishful thinking at best and delusional at worst for you to think that these schools would have a realistic chance against the large (well, Alcoa might be small in numbers but it's big in athletes) schools you mentioned in an actual game. In the CAK/Halls context, the size difference alone would have resulted in a lopsided score by the end of an real game. Also, believe me when I say that after the second defensive series many of the starters were watching from the sidelines. My personal knowledge of that could not be any more intimate than if I were one of the players themselves. Many of us wondered why we were scrimmaging CAK, particularly in what would appear to be a down year for them. The coaches appear to have realized that and called off the dogs early. With that said, I don't think Halls was using 2's for coverage early. We did get beat bad on one pass down the sidelines, and that was 1's against 1's. Otherwise, it was a pretty good night for Halls given the personnel being utilized.

I agree that the talent is spread a little more evenly in the Region this year. I'm particularly anxious to see how Clinton does early. They are scary for others in the Region in the sense that this could be a breakout year for them.

Amen, LSMFT, about the loss of Coach Ward being harsh. Be careful what you ask for, they always say. I've heard some express glee at Coach Ward's departure, but he had been around the block a few times and had, as IM80 has said, developed patience and wisdom in his many years of coaching.

Absolutely -- he's getting looks from Tennessee, Auburn, MTSU, Air Force Academy, Rutgers and others. He's the true sleeper with athleticism (he's an excellent wrestler too) with good speed and he's 6'4"/275.

I'd have to disagree with you there FBE, 'cause it looked to me like Brent willed that 38-30 win against Halls last year. Without him, I think you'd suffered the L in that game and probably in a few more. Zmellr, though, has his facts a little out of kilter. The Burnettes lived in Maryville when he says he saw him leave from Halls.

The varsity did not scrore and I'm 99% sure the JV did not either.

I haven't been to a practice either, but I too heard the buzz about the Woods kid. I thought he was a DB; anyhow, he apparently is a head-hunter who enjoys laying the wood (there's a pun there somewhere).

I've heard that Channel 6 News is going to do a spot on Halls tonight or tomorrow night in connection with the start of Spring Practice.

MHS has been running and throwing. The TD's have mostly been in the air for both teams. MHS has not punted and it's the 4th Q. RB recovered a fumble before it's last score. MHS just scored on a pass. it's 49 to 20.

Complete domination by MHS so far. RB tried to run wide early. Bad move. RB is threatening right now. well, RB just scored. It's 42 to 20 with 32 sec. left in the 3rd Q.

Big loss for Halls both in terms of a quality coach and a quality person if Houston Qualls leaves.

Not a Maryville fan, but as a visiting team fan I've never been treated with anything but courtesy and respect. But I think that policy was implemented by StarsNBars just in case the visiting fan happens to be the parent of an all-star athlete who he might want to recruit -- honey draws more flies than vinegar.!

I agree, awesome job this year Halls. Next year looks great, although there are some big (fast) shoes to fill. I'll be posting more later. But for now, hit it hard in the offseason!

I hope you're right, matback. If our offense plays like it did against MHS and our defense can limit Red Bank's offensive series, then I like our chances. If not, then it will be a long ride home. Maybe if we suit up the all-star powder puff girls?.... That is funny. The RB fans have disappeared. Orangeskin, who did you see RB play?
