I am going to say that Jackson Co wins the gold ball, and Clarkrange or Gleason gets the silver ball, depending on how the bracket falls!

Who might be some more sleepers in single A?

Oliver Springs?

In west TN:

Trenton lost a lot but will still be solid, but not enough to beat the 3 mentioned above. USJ has moved to AA, so they are out! Union City girls are improving and going from AA to A will help, and the Greenfield girls should have a solid team.

I would say that in west TN single A...it is Gleason at #1, and then 4 or 5 teams behind them, but no one who could threaten the top 3 right now!

I don't consider Oliver Springs a sleeper, they are a real possibility. They have a young star coming up, BUT, Jackson County has A defensive player that can possibly handle her. Coach Brown is probably concerned about this team.

Coach Brown will be kicked back in his recliner the night before he gets to play Oliver Springs! :D

Also, that seed Coach Brown left in west Tennessee during that 7AA/13AA challenge has sprouted. She is going to be a banger, with a little hook shot! Any homes available in Gainsboro?

I don't understand the (seed) comment at all, but I hope your right about the recliner statement.

7A - JC has the tools in the right places to do well this year. Clarkrange has size and depth to do great things.

7AA- LA is my front runner with 5 starting juniors that all can play, UHS has 5 sound players but need depth, SC has potential and are tougher this year, and York still has Brandi Brown. Tough call preseason... Everyone needs to take care of business at home. Road wins will be very hard to get!

I may be a year early on this one, but I have heard some great things out of RBS though they are very young, but after some of the wins they got last year with only one senior, you gotta believe they will compete! Last season they beat Westmoreland twice and Celina twice and gave Clarkrange a good game and lets remember that Westmoreland team was a team that went to state last season! RBS only has one senior again this year with the 8th graders coming up from last seasons TNT state championship team! Like I said with the youth on this team I may be a year early, but still something to think about! :)

I said earlier that JC and Clarkrange are definitely the favorites, but there will be some other rumbling in 7A. RBS could very well be one of those and there might be another. The question is: will the other noise come during regular or post season?

RBS is the team to watch as the Cinderella of the district. :thumb:

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
