I just think the league is more balanced than some might think.

My biggest surprises are that Claiborne & Rutledge haven't won more, and that Union Co. has accomplished what they have done.

Congratulations to the Patriots for their success thus far.

I anticipated that the standing right now would be:

1- Claiborne

2- Cumberland Gap

3- Pigeon Forge

4- Rutledge

5- Union Co.

6- Gatlinburg-Pittman

I guess that shows just how much I know.

The first round byes are still up for grabs. We will just have to see who takes care of business in the next couple of weeks.

Hey Sports Guy, why arent you impressed with Cumberland Gap? I know you had them second in the preseason. but you always say how this team has impressed you or this team hasn't. Have you forgot that they lost 4 seniors last season and the majority of their scoring and rebounding went with them. CG stumped their toe last friday, guess we'll have to see how they bounce back from it. Still not alot of respect for my Panthers out there but i can understand people being sceptical exspecially after the performance they gave at PF. I believe they will be ok down the stretch. Looks to be an exciting tournament down in Union County in a few weeks.

I don't think CG is getting disrespected at all. They were in everyones preseason #1 or #2 and they have lived up to those expectations. They are a very good team. It is almost impossible to go undefeated in this district with the balance it has. Even going through the regular season with only one loss would be a great accomplishment. I think everyone respects CG and their ability. People just aren't surprised by their winning, like they might be with PF or Union, because they were expected to be there.

I agree though, it should be another great tournament.

Come on shotdoc. You substituted Impressed for Surprised.

I AM impressed with the Panthers, but not very surprised by anyone on the roster except for Tyler Brim. In my opinion, Tyler has gone from being the best point guard in the district, to the best 2 guard. That's not always an easy transition, and Tyler has exceded my expectations.

Not sure of the order of the tie-breakers. It was a huge win for PF at a very talented Claiborne. I still think that CG and Claiborne have the most talent in the district and PF still has to play them both one more time. PF at CG on Fri winner will be the front runner for the # 1 seed. I expect CG to win at their place, but the Tigers have proven to be a team that plays with a lot of heart and refuses to lose, so I guess we'll have to wait and see. Should be a good one to watch anyway.

Unicoi and South Greene seem to be the obvious favorites in District 1. There is no way to know about District 2 until after the tournament. Everyone is so even the only way to guarantee a spot in the Region is to earn the bye (not sure if that is correct spelling for this use) in the tournament. That is still up for grabs between CG, PF, and Claiborne. Claiborne could still finish #2 if they win out (GP and PF) and PF or CG loses out. PF and CG need one win to get #2. PF needs 2 wins with one being over CG tonight to finish #1. Anything can happen from here on out.

If PF could stay hot they have a chance, but Claiborne and CG still have to be the favorites.

Hey tigerball12!

We will have the game on the internet tonight for all in PF that are interested.

We broadcast on WLMU 91.3 FM, with a simulcast on http://radio.lmunet.edu.

You can also link to us at http://www.913thegap.com. Just click on the broadcast tower in the upper right corner.

If you're at the game, come up to the crows nest and say howdy. I'm the old fat guy wearing the light blue Panther cap.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
