Clinton vs. Powell

Both of these teams will be playing early to earn their spots in the region. This tough district you cant take an off game. These 2 teams are pretty evenly matched in talent. Hargis and Smith are a good inside/outside combo while Clinton has the Dixon/Dye backcourt duo that could be the best in East Tennessee. I think this will be a close game but Clintons fast style of play will wear down the Panther big men "Smith and McGaha" in the 2nd half giving Clinton enough room for the close win.

My take on it

Hargis where in the world were you playing. He walked countless times tonight couldnt catch the ball, coudlnt shoot, and deffenatly didnt have the passing skills.

I think the Clinton fans were all over him so that probably got into his head I dont know

Mocs you all had a good game plan it seemed but every time in transition the team pulls up and sets up a play

i think they maybe had 6 points off of fast breaks they should have had 20 or more

they got stuff to work on but great game and a good way to start off

Give credit where credit is due. BOTH of Powell's big men....including McGaha, controlled the pace of the game opening up the outside game for the guards and shutting down Clinton's inside game (what little they had of one, anyway.) There should have never been an overtime. My advice, don't underestimate what you've got in the big 6'7 guy. He's a very coachable kid and a good athlete. And yes, I think he can go the duration of a whole game both mentally and physically. Incidently, it doesn't matter that Hargis may have been "off," because he knows he has a whole team that will pick up where he is falling short. Congratulations Panthers on the win.

IMO Powells best chance to win will be when they pound it down low to Smith and that other big fella. Smith will be virtually unstoppable in the post if he sets his mind to it. Certainly they will take the break if they have it. If they are effective in the post that will open up the perimieter for Hargis, Conner, etc... If Powell gets in an up and down game they will not be nearly as effective. Powell must control tempo to have ultimate success.

Congrats to the Panthers on a big District win.

Hargis hit some big shots for us in that game. I know he made some costly mistakes with his walks and some bad passes but the kid is a player and he's going to be just fine.

Lee is an unstoppable monster in east tennessee. Hes taller stronger and quicker then most kids hes gonna play against around here. An amazing athlete.

Hanson played better then I personally have ever seen him play. Im not sure he scored a single point, or for that matter even had a shot attempt. What he did do, however, was handle the ball extremely well against Clinton's pressure D, made some nice passes, and played great defense all night long.

The "other guy" down low for Powell is Jared McGaha. At 6'7 and close to 300 with the footwork/quickness of an offensive tackle, he could be a good one. He's got a long way to go but hes a hard worker and will continue to get better as the seaon goes along.

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
