I think Smyrna will have a high powered offense and Oakland will get a ton of starters back that have talent.

Neither of which will be winning state...if Smyrna gets REAL lucky, they might finish #2 in the region unlike recent history where they haven't broken the #3 spot. And if Oakland gets real, REAL lucky, they might make the playoffs for the first time in more recent history.

I just think talking about them in a "State Championship Contenders" thread is a little bit out of the question, when neither of them will be their own region champions.

jmu031 is right though, this is Smyrna's best chance ever at state, it still won't happen though. I still see Smyrna finishing 3rd, and going no father then the 2nd round in the playoffs. Yes I do know their talent, who they have returning and such, it looks REAL, REAL good until you remember who their coach is.

I highly doubt Riverdale will be winning region

The only team with a realistic chance of beating us out is Smyrna, and they haven't even came within 14 points of us in recent years, despite having great teams. I mean yea, it looks like talent wise they have a chance of beating us, until we remember who their coach is and realize they don't have a chance . It doesn't hurt either that we have 70 straight region victories dating back to 1995 and winning the region 15 consecutive years. Share with us who you think will win the region...you can highly doubt all you want, Riverdale has been highly doubted in the past but thats never changed anything

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
