David Lipscomb should repeat as Region 5-3A Champions and make another run towards Murfreesboro. Offensively they return the touchdown scoring machine known as Matt Elrod. The Mustangs also return both Holt and Davis to the backfield. Replacing Clay Smith at quarterback is the primary concern on that side of the football. Defensively the Mustangs are going to be stacked. Donnie Hudson and Mitchell Tempenny will anchor a stout defensive line. Despite losing all everything middle linebacker Braden Binkley I personally can't see a team in all of 3A having a better core of starting linebackers than Lipscomb will in '06. Ben Lehning and Dale Binkley both return which is great news for Lipscomb fans and terrible news for other teams in the region. Defensively the big question is NOT who will replace Binkley. The big one is who will be in the secondary when August arrives. Burton Wood is the lone returning starter for the Mustangs back there in '06. If Lipscomb can fin replacements for Gott, Hillin, and Neelly they'll be darn near impossible to score against once again next season. With Lehning OR Tempenny the Mustangs have two capable punters but place kicking wise they need to find a guy to replace Jason Hull. As a Cheatham Co. supporter I will not miss that young man whatsoever this upcoming season.

whos gonna be the quarterback and receiver connection for lipscomb like elrod was with rogers

Well heading into this last year had anyone said "Clay Smith to Ford Hillin" they would have been laughed at. That worked out pretty well.

They have to have a bye or they would have 11 games. I think everyone that plays week 0 has a bye somewhere in their schedule.
