DEAR GOD! Looks like their were alot of people waiting on the Devils to lose one to lay it down on us!This is crazy...I am tired of hearing about BIG 9 THIS AND BIG 9 THAT!!! We aint in your conference so give it up. Not like the fans or the players have ANY control over who they play.

Our boys play their hearts out and wether it is a win by 20 or 3 it is still a win. We won our games and that is all we care about. The loss to Hampton was crazy and from the sound of it, we played like crap and the Dogs were dead set on winning. But if they hadnt gotten the chance to step up to the free throw line every two seconds then it would have been a different story for both teams. But one game lost isnt a life threatening situation for us. We are still going into turney time undefeated in our regular season conference games.... we won the title and looks like it was just an off game for the Devils and a great night for the Dogs. If anyone wins 27 games then I think they deserve a little bit of respect especially when we beat some of your teams. Everyone looses so no one has any room to talk about US!

I think that the Devils will do great in the next few games. They are gonna be against teams we have already beaten and the guys will be ready. The game against Hampton showed them that they are not perfect and that even the best can get beat on an off night. So they will come prepared for these games and come off with the wins they need. The games after that will not doubt get harder for us but dang thats the whole point. I have all my faith in the Devils and We can go as far as we want to. If they keep their heads in the game and play better than they did with Hampton then no doubt that they will be able to go as far as they want to.......Now guys dont freak out I am not sayin that are all powerful get whatever we want kind of people but I think that if anyone wants something bad enough they will get it.

GOOD LUCK BLUE!!!

as far as the "how many students do you have? why not move up to AAA..." comment...unicoi county high school has a little over 1,000 students. nearly 230 of those, however, are not considered part of the high school but instead are known as "a school within a school." that leaves the *high school* with almost 800 students, grades 9-12...so it isn't as if UCHS is playing in a lower division to pick on smaller schools. Unicoi IS a small school.

i, too, would have loved to see the blue devils play sullivan central this year. the games last year were some of the best i have EVER witnessed. the intensity of a game between the cougars and blue devils would be out of this world...too bad we didn't get to experience it.

i admit..i'm actually GLAD to see the devils get beat. while i am incredibly impressed by the season they have had so far...i feel like a shot to the ego was much needed...possibly more so for the fans than the players. sometimes it is good for a team to have a bit of a cocky swagger about them...it shows they are having fun. i think it may be possible that the devils became too accustomed to winning and simply went through the motions in the beginning against hampton. they stopped having fun because they didn't expect much of a challenge... which resulted in getting themselves in a hole they were unable to escape. i agree...the loss was more of a positive than anything else. yes, i would have liked to see them win that game (or hear, since i wasn't actually there)...so i'm not trying to defend them. i just think they forgot to enjoy what they were doing. --i'm not throwing off on the guys by any means in saying that. that happens to a team when they're successful sometimes.

but most importantly...that loss was the most beneficial for the fans. i believe some people forget that this team is comprised of young men that are, believe it or not, HUMAN. they are not superheroes...they are not perfect. sometimes a team can be weighed down by pressure they receive from outside influences that expect perfection at every competition. it just isn't possible. i am not criticizing anyone by saying this. i am actually quite proud of the support the basketball team has been given. but sometimes i think we, as fans, forget to let the TEAM play the game. while fans may have some slight effects on the game, 99% of the time players on the court pay no attention to them. as an athlete, i can promise you that. if anything, the players find the actions of fans amusing.

here's a question...what has happened to the lady devils basketball team? it seems all you hear about anymore is the guys team. is there no support for the ladies...or are they just the opening act, just a little entertainment for the big show? sadly...it appears this is the case with nearly all girls' teams throughout the area.

Im not disrespecting the devils at all, very talented team. But comment to you is you guys were lucky to win 27. you guys probably had 6 or 7 wins with five points or less. I know, I know you won thats all that matters. But those were the teams you were supposed to beat by 20+ points. But playing like that in tourny time will get you nowhere. That record don't mean anything to most people. The real fans know where the competition is. And thats something English didn't want you guys to have this year. And yes, I know the coach has some say so on who he plays. Trust Me :thumb: I Know. He wanted to get all the easy games he could, so he could get that record that last years squad put in the books. True props to last years team with the tougher schedule. If they would have left the conference alone, then you would see about 3 or 4 more losses on your record. They got rid of three excellent teams and in return gave you one, South Greene. I don't care if you lost in FL, thats the only tough games you had. Think about it for a minute, if you played the three teams that left and the FL games. You would have 9 tough games instead of only 3. Plus tourny games with them. Don't start about South Greene being good either, they only got one player.

I went to some of the devils games, especially the hampton game. I'll tell u one thing, hampton deserved that game. They played so much harder than the devils. You could see the desire to win out on the court. Your blue devils have so much talent. But they don't know how to use it. Ike don't know how to do his moves on guys a ft smaller and a hundred pounds lighter. And colton i don't want to get started on him. That guy was such a dissapointment this year. Does he not realize that he is 6'4''. And most of the "college bound" guys that are 6'3 and taller are taking the ball to the hole. He must of not gotten the memo. All he wants to do is take jump shots. If he thinks he is going to get by with that in the next level, IF HE MAKES IT, hes got another thing coming. That boy won't hear the gun go off. Your boys need something to get a boost, because if you bring that game to the region. It will be a long ride home from Union County. But first you have to make it through the District. So don't go making threads on here about how great of a season you had, when there is nothing great about the teams you played. Im not starting anything with you or your devils, just stating the facts or opinions, however you want to take them.

Good Luck to ALL the teams in the conference.

unicoi is a (TEAM)!!!!!! i'm not trhowing back down on ya but these guys play for coach english and the fans. not one of them can be criticized for not knowing how to do his moves or a dissapointment to this team. there is not one of them that stands out like in other schools. check the erwin papers and see all of them. check the johnson city press and see omar wattad. when you go watch them play you love what any one of them bring to the table that night. futher more you see who they play for ITS THE NAME ON THE FRONT OF THE JERSEY NOT THE ONE THAT GOES ON THE BACK. good luck on your quest bluedevils. ROLL ON ROLL ON!!!!

I think everything you said was true in most aspects. We do put alot of presure on the team but we really dont mean to. We mean it in good spirts. The lost game should prove to them that they can lose and they will be more careful through out the touney games...

Some of the posts that other people have put up on here put the Devils down. And even more the other teams we play. That is just disrespectful of the whole conference since "We didnt play anybody that was all that good"...Just chill out on bashin us we aint doing that to your teams although we very well could. So if you can find it in yourself to grow up I think most people on this site would appriciate it. THANKS!

I LOVED the games with SC last year. Altough I really didnt like anything about that school or team..lol.. it was still a great matchup that i would have loved seein again. "The Hess Lovefest" wouldnt have lasted too long..Goodness I remember that night the dude got upset and actually hit at the daughter of the man who wound up hittin him...heck i do believe that SC fans spent the rest of the season trying to justify that...blamin it on the ...sounded like they were discribin the Hulk to me...but now its over and we gotta think about our next games.... Now lets just see how the first round at DCHS works out for the Devils...

GOOD LUCK BLUE!!!

the sad thing about the girls team is that they do not play well together, anyone who watches one of their games can see them going down the floor b*tching at each other. also, our middle school feeder program has been down for a couple of years so that is also hurting our girls team.

Sadly, things haven't been the same since "Slaglefelt" left the middle school.

Unicoi has a good team this year. But they are like Happy Valley last year. They think they are a whole lot better than they really are. They barley pulled out two wins against University High. At Unaka, they only won by 5, with the Devils shooting 23 of 29 from the line, and Unaka going 0 for 0. And people are right. You need alot of luck in the post-season, but it also helps to be really good too. But come Sub-State time, this topic will be though, because I don't think any Region 1 team, including Unicoi, can get past the Austin East/Alcoa/Fulton road-block.

yes it is easy to say the hess lovefeast would not last long when you dont have to play central.... Hess is having a good year in the big 9 and so is central... i wish central and the devils would have played this year to.... the reason you did not like anything about central was because they were better than your team was and you would be saying the same thing this year to because they would run you off the floor again.... there is no way the devils could match up with central.... if they played the score would be something like central 84 devils 60!!!!! and if it was at your place a couple of our fans would be threw out by your stupid renta-cops for some reason....
