Ole! Ole!
It would seem logical that it would be D1???? Not that theres not good players or talent in D2 or NAIA but that D1 should have the most talent?? Correct Me If Am Wrong....
Welshdragon
D1 - Should have the most depth and the best D1 teams will be (usually) better than the best DII, DIII or NAIA. DII - Some good competitive teams, but an awful lot of teams not very good at all DIII - No scholarships, but some very good players who choose to go to the school for education first NAIA - Some very, very good teams, who could compete very well with a lot of the god DI teams. A lot of foreign / older players traditionally played NAIA, new rules are limiting this now. Junior College - Some good junior colleges, once again a lot of foreign players involved. I def agree with what is mentioned. The NAIA has no age restriction and there are even pro's from overseas playing in this division. The top NAIA teams can compete with any team in the nation because the average age of their players is around 22. Just take a look any of the NAIA national championship teams and they don't even have an american on the roster. THere 33 first, second and third team all americans put together, and only 2 or three every year are american. When IU was winning all those NCAA D1 championship they would scrimage Lindsey Wilson and IU would tie or loose every year. Those were the years when Lindsey Wilson wasn't even the best team in the nation at the NAIA level. JUst some info. D1 overall is the highest level of collegiate soccer in the US Also NAIA schools are usually enrollement driven so they can offer more scholarships
hattrick7
I agree that the top NAIA teams are as good as the NCAA D1. But all in all D1 has better competition.
soccer4life
...I dont know, does D-1 have to do with school size?
lcsoccer
D1 players get the publicity and usually go to bigger high schools and play for highly publicized club teams. It's all about publicity (obviousoly you have to be good too) D2 and NAIA are just as capable. Anyone signed recently?
wmsmphs
D1 players get the publicity and usually go to bigger high schools and play for highly publicized club teams. A good way to judge the quality of the collegiate players is to look at the rosters of the USL PDL teams in the summers. The best play in the pdl and 29 pdl players last year are now in the MLS. It is loaded with DI players, but there are scattered DII, NAIA, and a few DIII playing right with the DI players in the pdl. It is the best way to compare the talent level. An example is a Lincoln Memorial (NCAA DII) player Jon Williams(CBHS 2003) was just signed to play with the Indiana Invaders of the PDL. He will play this summer with DI players from Univ. of Indiana, Notre Dame, and others. DII, DIII, and NAIA are just labels. Good players in any level will be noticed. lcsoccer
Well said. Jon is a good player. He stood out on an LMU team loaded with Brazilian talent. Congrats to him.
